I do believe we will eventually see smoothbore autocannons; Primarily for APFSDS and shaped charges, but it would make canister rounds(like the 120mm XM1028) for them a more attractive option. Or maybe rounds with multiple flechettes, all of them guided to different targets...
It looks like something out of Warhammer fantasy, the Dwarven gunners. They also have six-barreled muskets. It's not impossible, but it doesn't seem terribly practical or safe.

I had the Triple Threat, it was fun to shoot. I ended up trading for a Garand. Funny thing, I bought that Triple Threat off GunBroker, and I have never seen another priced for what that one was...it was $950 buy it now. I think that was a mistake, because they are usually about 4-500 more than that. I traded for a pristine Garand though, but wouldn't mind having another Triple Threat, they are pretty cool with the way the stock can be shortened. This Lancaster...wow. I don't have the scratch to even compete in that auction. I'm sure it will fetch a hefty bundle.
@@john-paulsilke893 hmmm.... interesting. I have seen the Charles Daly triple honcho models (pistol grip, but still 18" barrel) of the Chiappa here in the States. I haven't seen a 14" barrel version though. Here, one of the classification criteria is a 26+" overall length w/18+" barrel. I would love to try to import this into Australia just to give the authorities a headache over how to classify it - we're (broadly) allowed lever shotguns but not pumps or semi-autos... but this has four barrels... Not really as it'd be a nightmare of paperwork, but that's certainly an interesting gun. My brain can't decide if it's like a double-decker side by side, or two over & unders next to each other.
In vanilla 2033, the Shambler (revolver shotgun) was a waste of ammo. Far too weak. Not gud enuf 4 Git Gud mode. The Duplet was much better overall. Not only was it more powerful, but you could also sell it whenever you had the chance, because you would almost instantly find another one. For the same reason, you could swap it out at any time if you needed something else.
leighrate nitro proofed Damascus so you don’t have a butt pucker when you shoot modern higher pressure rounds, (well high pressure for a shotgun that is). Looks like a great birding gun, I wonder what chokes it has.
John-Paul Silke Given the guns age, and bearing in mind that those are wound wire Damascus barrels I would be extremely conservative about what I put through it. Butt Puckering has absolutely nothing to do with it. Incidentally guns do go "out of proof" as a consequence of either: Excessive use, modification or simple age. Besides I would want to shoot it, but I wouldn't want to be the one who blew it up.
We had a single back in the day that was Damascus including strangely parts of the breech face. It failed at the face and vented backwards into the stock and cracked it. (Nothing too bad but........). In any case the softer metal can separate from the harder metal and blamo you done broke the gun, although unlikely anything catastrophic.
