World at War (A dark, gritty, visceral, horrific, and morally ambiguous depiction of the war with extremely memorable missions and characters. No other COD or WWII game like it). 2. COD 2 (Everything a WWII shooter should try to be, does everything COD 1 did but better. Iconic missions and moments, an all around classic game). 3. COD 1 (Genre defining for its time, still holds up extremely well for its age, an intense WWII shooter with a ton of memorable set pieces and moments). 4. Big Red One (Easily the best console exclusive COD, several unique fronts and missions not seen in many other WWII games. A really well done Band of Brothers type story, with well acted and memorable squad mates). 5. United Offensive (Pretty much just more of COD 1, which is a good thing. Larger more cinematic levels and interesting moments, all around solid expansion/game). 6. WWII (A very nice return to the WWII setting with a few new interesting inclusions. Another pretty solid Band of Brothers type story, with a more cinematic and gorgeous presentation than any of the previous outings. Brought down by playing it safe and retreading a lot of what has been done in the earlier titles and WWII media in general). 7. Finest Hour (Extremely nostalgic with some very memorable missions, as well as probably the best introduction to consoles the franchise could have at the time of its release. Sadly the most dated in terms of both presentation, controls, and difficulty, making it less enjoyable today). 8. Vanguard (An extremely beautiful and all around cinematic game, with some very interesting set pieces and varying environments. Sadly completely brought down by its cliche, nonsensical, and fictional secret ops wraparound story. As well as its shifting tone, one-note poorly written characters, and blatant unbelievable historical inaccuracies). 9. COD 3 (Very interesting focus on one campaign/front and on forces we usually don't see, such as the Canadians and Polish. That said unlike COD 1 and 2, there really isn't any memorable missions or set pieces here for me. The game feels samey through out as well as rushed, and the scripted moments and cutscenes feel extremely dated by today's standards. Still a solid WWII shooter, but ultimately very generic and run of the mill). 10. Final Fronts (Sadly the only game here that runs pretty poorly and is filled with obvious bugs. Definitely an extremely rushed game, not given the time or resources it should have. I do enjoy that it is it's own unique title and not a copy and paste of WAW. I like how we get more of the pacific front as well as the western front in the WAW format, but the game ultimately fails to capture that game's unique style. Call of Duty World At War is one of the best, or probably the best World War 2 game ever. It captured the brutality, heroism, and inhumanity of WW2 all in one game. Such a shame that World War 2 and Vanguard couldn't match it.
_Finest Hour_ on the brand new Playstation 2 Slimline was my first introduction into the series. The campaign had strong campaign moments and settings, but also several that were notoriously difficult. If one bad in-between game wasn't bad enough, I actually played the poor second-gen World at War game too; that game was far more egregious than the first. But the one thing it did right was have more frequent and terrifying Banzai charges than the few scripted moments in the official World at War campaign.
It's good to see "The History of" series is back. Unfortunately, the earlier videos are now completely removed from the channel. I used to enjoy watching those and would eagerly wait for the videos. The videos were very in-depth. I have a request, please make a video on Age of Empires.
Zombies in World at War is very similar to GoldenEye’s multiplayer: a very late-game addition that came from some developers experimenting that ended up becoming the game’s most iconic feature.
COD 2 is still the best one out of the WWII cods. i recently went back to it last year, and it was fun and one mission just gave you infinite supply of nazis and you could pile them up on a staircase, loved the campaign and the gunplay though simple, beats WAW, which i still enjoyed playing.

here is dude who start whit cod1 and cod-uo....was realy long time ago ....remember cod uo map name foy....that was hell fun time in online gaming
Call of Duty World At War is one of the best, or probably the best World War 2 game ever. It captured the brutality, heroism, and inhumanity of WW2 all in one game. Such a shame that World War 2 and Vanguard couldn't match it.
Crazy how cod ww2 was after bf1
I really loved Call of Duty: The Big Red One. I played it through many, many times.
I Miss the real old ww2 games not Hollywood vanguard
Call of Duty 2 still looks great. Ageless beauty.
I remember cod 2 being so damn good on 360 when playing the demo at walmart. What a great intro into that gen. Along with gears and oblivion
As far as I'm concerned, there's only one COD WW2 game and it's called WaW.
It's good to see "The History of" series is back. Unfortunately, the earlier videos are now completely removed from the channel. I used to enjoy watching those and would eagerly wait for the videos. The videos were very in-depth. I have a request, please make a video on Age of Empires.
I was a kid when Cod 1 came out and man was it a fun experience. We're all spoiled now.
I think you think you know what shell shock means, but it really means PTSD.
You should go ask the late grandpa Carlin about that :)
Zombies in World at War is very similar to GoldenEye’s multiplayer: a very late-game addition that came from some developers experimenting that ended up becoming the game’s most iconic feature.
big red one, my childhood 😭
Vanguard is unplayable to anyone who enjoys war history or has even basic interests in period firearms lmao
Meh
What you talking about, I love my cursed guns
Haha fr M1 garand with drum mags bro like wtf
imagine being in berlin as a soviet soldier in 1945 just to see 10 fucking granades surrounding you
I like how in cod 1 cpt Price wS a character. But it's not our price maybe he's great Grandfather
World at war is GOAT
I wish Infinity Ward remake/remastered its first game. The original CoD. Imagine the first CoD with MW2019 graphics.
Gamespot is killing it with these documentary videos!
COD 2 is still the best one out of the WWII cods. i recently went back to it last year, and it was fun and one mission just gave you infinite supply of nazis and you could pile them up on a staircase, loved the campaign and the gunplay though simple, beats WAW, which i still enjoyed playing.
Cod finest hour had the best intros + speech
Thats all i could say
The best COD is the first one with united offensive, the other is just console port, still remember defend Pegasus bridge from German counter attack with excellent soundtrack from Michael Giacchino.
My first call of duty experience was call of duty 3 and call of duty big red one. I'm glad they added 3 on xbox and it will forever be one of my favorite storytelling
Surprised they haven't made a ww1 game yet
I honestly love them all starting with finest hour of course
Remasters of the old MOH games and COD games would sell like hot cakes. No one makes a proper WW2 game today.
Medal of honor above and beyoned which releases today in quest 2
CoD WW2 games went from documentaries to cartoons
2:50
Vanguard dev:We dont do that here!
I beat COD WW2 from 2017 recently
It was a good game
I bought COD 2 and COD 3 for XBOX 360 at GameStop used for $4 as a bundle in 2013 when I was 11 and I had so much fun playing multiplayer,COD 3 is still one of my favorite COD games to this day
(I‘m still quite surprised that they both had quite an active multiplayer community still in 2013)
So cod was basically battlefield back then and now its just 6v6 on a small map?
Notice how vanguard zombies wasn’t even mentioned, that’s how shit it is.
World at War. The good old World at War! ❤️
I didn’t know price first appeared in the original cod
I don't know why but I love the original!
First one is still the best for me.
My favorites game of cod ww2 is
-cod waw
-cod 2
-cod ww2
COD 2 - For Realistic WW2 experience
Vanguard - For Bombistic movie like WW2
WaW is the best Ww2 game imo, wish someone will remaster that gem
I played 2 cod games since few days ago and i uninstalled both because i decided not play these games again but this my first time playing this
I like how you've explored the history of these games, because Activision are not at all interested in studying history themselves.
World at War is the best Cod WW2 game ever.
The war game mode was featured on WaW too
remember when CoD used to show you the brutality of WWII ????
yeah i remember when i was 10 or maybe 12 and picked this game and I thought horror games were terrifying but until CoD tell the story of the horror of WWII
I remember the early cod ww2 games as extremely jaw dropping. The campaign truly is fun and the experience is unforgettable. Even more amazing is they got even better on united offensive and cod 2. didn't play cod 3 and big red one as i didn't have console. Played waw and while the storyline is better and darker, personally i like cod 1 & 2 better. But i agree that waw is the last good ww2 cod. WWII and vanguard is too historically inaccurate to be enjoyable and too story centric rather than proper action
Full agree!
Not too Historically innacurate it way too Hollywood
Ww2 is famous cause thousands of people make vids of it
in my opinion, I want to Activision to Remake Call of Duty 1 2 3.
Oh yea
Please the nex one the history of call of duty MW and the future part.?
You failed to mention Call of Duty: World at War DS. The COD games in Nintendo DS were actually entertaining.
the era of Cod games from cod 4 to black ops 2 was elite. Anything before then doesnt hold up, and the only good game since was MW(2019)
Hell Let Loose is the most immersive WW2 shooter I've ever played and tons of fun especially if your military.
We need a waw remaster NOW !
call of duty ww2 and other ww2 cod games Before i love
20 minute video on the decline of call of duty trying to be historically accurate. Vanguard may as well be black ops 0.5
Atleast Gunsmith is only in Multiplayer and Zombies.Want 10 Attachments in Vanguard Campaign?
Call of Duty 1 is soooooo underrated and so good. Yes Cod2 and WAW are good titles but cod1 isn't getting its much deserved attention. Also i actully like how they mentioned MOH Allied Assault. Mohaa is the best ww2 fps game with cod1 being in 2nd in my opinion.
Not underrated it's vanilla right now.But it's still a 9/10 game like how it was back in 2003.And don't forget COD United Offensive
That's why Call of Duty was code named Medal of Honor Killer
@@ChandranPrema123 Cod UO was amazing too. They put so much work into it and it worked out amazing
