  • Here's a very quick unbox, a nice tip for a fix with the battery straps, and the maiden. The trimming of the jet has been edited out of the video. I like this jet. There are no settings for a mix for flaps and elevator, so I'll post another video once I've worked out the good settings. I'll also put on all the extras that came with this jet on the next video. I've been traveling quite a bit, along with work and many extremely windy days, so I've missed quite a bit of time with posts. Here's the first of many to come as we approach Summer. Enjoy!

    Ahh yes, the E-Flite F-4. Too bad it’s discontinued now. I had the opportunity to get one in December, but I missed out. I hope I’ll get the chance to get one again, but as the old saying goes, “Opportunity only knocks once.” I hope I’ll get another chance though!

      It happens just a bit too much with the discontinued aspect. I know that money needs to be made, but jeez.

      @@MrOOSTUOO I’ve got a few stories about discontinued airplanes!
      1. They discontinued the F-16 Falcon 64mm, so I went to the “spare parts” section on HH and bought 1 of each spare part (I already had the EDF, ESC, receiver, and servos from my crashed F-15, so I only bought the foam, Carbon fiber spar, plastic canopy, and metal gear/pushrod parts.)
      2. Then, they discontinued the night Radian (FT) right after I crashed my first one. Had to get one shipped from a hobby store in Iowa or something like that. It cost like 200 dollars more because of that! Oh, and less than a month later they came out with V2! 🤦‍♂️
      3. They axed the EC-1500 in November, but I went to a hobby store in December and picked up a used display one for half price. That’s when I came across the F-4. It was unboxed, hanging from the ceiling, cost about 50-70 dollars less than box stock, and was UNFLOWN! This thing was the crowned jewel, I tell you! The holy grail. Unflown, cheap, DUDE!!! Unfortunately, because I was in the process of moving and the car was already jam packed with moving stuff, I couldn’t get it (and because they wouldn’t accept credit cards, and there was no ATM nearby!) Hey, at least I got the EC-1500!
      4. Horizon discontinued the A-10 2x 64mm back in early January. Good thing they re-released it soon after, but I was a little worried there for a while.
      5. Last one, My dream plane ever since it was announced was the 80mm F-18 Blue Angel version. I waited so long for it, but we couldn’t purchase it because of the move and we were so busy with that. We finally get to our destination, when, bam! Horizon discontinued it. Scrambling, I called all the local hobby stores in the new area to see if they had it still in stock. Fortunately, one did, so 1 week after discontinuation, I got it. Phew, that one was close! (Oh, and they also had a discontinued p-39 and discontinued Havoc 80mm in stock too.)
      Here we are, talking about discontinued airplanes, but the first 3 big jets from Horizon (they didn’t make big jets for a few years) were the Viper 70, F-16 Thunderbird 70, and F-15 64 (all of which I own) are STILL being sold. (I think it has something to do with them being Rebranded FMS products, so FMS is taking care of producing those ones.

    Here's another note as of June 26 2019...The front retract will not take much abuse. Avoid grass! Don't even turn in around to taxi back if you think you are going to take it over grass. As of right now, the front retract is sold out as ALL places. The earliest to get this part is August. This fact does not take away from the quality of the jet. They don't belong on grass anyway. I imagine that putting green grass would be ok, but not fairway or rough grass.

    I seriously don't understand how they could go to great lengths with so many scale details - and yet not include the WSO... really, really weird - and something that imho spoils the look of the model!

    • @aerospacematt9147
      @aerospacematt9147 2 роки тому

      They did that with the F-18 80mm as well. Oh well, I guess enough people complained, because on the new 2x 40mm F-14, they installed 2 guys.

      @alexbody3502 2 роки тому

      @@aerospacematt9147 the F-18D would at least fly with one guy. I don't think an F-4 ever would?

    • @aerospacematt9147
      @aerospacematt9147 2 роки тому

      @@alexbody3502 Yeah, I don’t think an F-4 would ever fly without a RIO (that’s what I think they called it in the F-4). The F/A-18D would almost always have someone in the back as well, because that version was used for air to ground attack, tactical air control, forward air control and reconnaissance sorties, all of which require a WSO.
