I’m a „Switcher“. Sometimes I play portable, sometimes docked. The only Reason for me the OLED Switch is interesting is the Screen. But it’s ok for me not to have it. I’m happy with the Og Switch and I can put my money in Games.
That is kind of my point of view on the switch OLED. Mine lives in a dock. I know some people rarely or never use theirs in a dock. I just don’t see enough of those people looking for an upgrade. I also can’t imagine that many people have been holding off and then will go for this especially after all those switch pro rumors. That being said, anyone looking to jump into the switch this late in the game will certainly get a nice screen etc. I just can’t quite figure out who this is for other than this last group and a few groups that I think are very niche.
@@rinyuni the original or the OLED? I saw a few OLEDs on the shelf of my local GameStop yesterday. Kind of makes me wonder if Sony and MS chasing those high end chips on the middle of a supply drought while Nintendo soldiers on with a nearly decade old mobile SoC is a wiser choice in this day and age.
For any secondary consoles just launch the game while connected to the internet. Then as soon as it boots up, put it in airplane mode. The game will work exactly the same minus the online features.
I honestly don't get people buying a second switch for portability reasons, the console is already portable and the lite isn't that smaller, sure it can fit a big pocket but you're not going to carry it around on a pocket, and if you throw it in a bag then it's literally the same if you had a regular switch
After having played both lite and the normal switch. I can safely say, the lite has less moving parts (the non removable joycon) makes it feel more sturdy when you're carrying it into the world...
@@bryndougo It does feel more toy-like and less special. And the "checking to see if this software can be played" thing is really annoying. BUT the controllers never get wobbly... Do some Lites have drift? Mine doesn't (touchwood).
Most of the problems you talked about weren't about the OLED switch itself, it was more about Nintendo's policy and other things that aren't the OLED switch's fault
Appreciate you doing the burn in test! Tbh, if that scenario you created didn't result in burn - it's hard to imagine a normal user being impacted for a long time. I think the best thing is to just leave auto brightness on really, there are a lot of smart compensations for OLED burn in now you just have to not disable them
Auto brightness is super dark on the OLED, so that's probably not a reasonable solution (and not necessary). Turning it on kind of defeats the purpose of the beautiful bright OLED screen. I keep it at about 2-3 clicks below max brightness.
You have an oled that you buy games for why own a molded banned in 3 months CFW. Why pirate if your paying for games on a diff console. Good luck. Kill that switch like you did countless X360 right. Modding/hacking consoles is a death certificate for that unit.
Same. I prefer physical and it's a fact the japanese market still values physical releases for games and music. That's most likely the reason the Switch transfer procedure is the way it is.
I appreciate youtubers willing to go the extra mile to make their sponsor segments not boring and bland, Bob and Arin from Game Grumps do them so well.
Yeah found that out when I thought I could use my SD card with over 200gb of games , it says its for another account/console (?) ...even though its same account at least ....scared of a psp type scenario Im guessing (hacked to shit)
So the sd card it's linked to the switch not account? After transferring you can't just put the new sd card in the new console? You have to reformat it then redownload everything? I'm thinking in getting a new switch
The nightmarish faff of transferring save data does definitely put me off upgrading. Try harder please, Nintendo. It's a gaming console it's meant to be fun and easy.
I also did it earlier today and literally took about 5 minutes, really simple. Now if you've gone digital for all or a good portion of your game library the re-downloading would be a pain in the ass/take a while, otherwise it's a cinch!
I am 100% digital with my Switch games so it would definitely be more of a pain in the butt for me. But I'm glad it was easy for you folk, hope you're enjoying your new Switches. :)
The auto save sync absolutely works flawlessly. The catch is, on the new system, you have to manually redownload the first time. THEN it auto syncs. You can do all your games in rapid fire from the menu.
Same, it actually does fix a lot of design issues The flimsy kickstand, now being sturdy and adjustable A bigger screen without the bezel A wider color range, especially blacks, now truly solid black The Switch Lite's ventilation style, so it won't slightly seperate like the original An actual Ethernet port instead of needing an adapter with a confusing USB port And better ventilation on the dock itself (the dock might be significantly redesigned, too)
@@altermike3197 I love those features, but as a switch owner I don't see the point in upgrading especially with the issues that come with having more than one switch, but I genuinely hope that those people who've never had a switch before find value in the OLED switch. Also I play most games docked personally so I wouldn't benefit as much as someone who wants to use their switch portably.
I got mine today. It’s such an upgrade for me considering i’m about 50/50 when it comes to portable and docked and the battery is better. I also get to help my friend out by selling my previous original switch to my friend.
i wasnt planning on getting the OLED model when it was announced but after seeing how the screen looks, mostly the size for me as 99% handheld, i'm really tempted now. i go through phases of not touching my launch model for months though. but my battery life is abysmal at this point and i could "put it to rest with custom firmware" as someone else commented. hmmmm.
I'm fiddling with my new oled right now man and I'd be hard pressed to push you away. I have the V2/mario model and I'm going to sell that to the first person that makes me a reasonable offer now. I got home wondering if I made a mistake throwing that much more $ down but those feeling faded the instant I booted that screen up, it looks SO good man and almost mind blowing how big a difference that 1 inch makes.
Same for me, except for the battery, mine is fine. I'm not buying it, not now. It would sit in the dock without use too much. Not worth it. Wait a while to see how's the OLED holding up after some time.
Is that... “Lower Brinstar” from Tune in with Chewie’s _Samus & Chill_ album playing at 0:51 in the background? The entire album’s absolutely fantastic.
Yup, that's what it sounds like. It gets the melody wrong in a way that I suspect is accidental rather than "deliberately changing it... for the sake of art!!". Edit: If anyone is curious about what I mean, the first three notes of the melody are actually 1 4 8, not 1 5 8 as played in this version and loads of other covers of this tune.
I dont even come for the content any more dude! Your passion for your art shows in each of your videos! The content is a bonus by this point! Keep killing it!
As someone who recently replaced their V1 with OLED, I can’t stress enough how much of a game changer it is. I instantly noticed how gorgeous the screen is. And with my gaming habits, the battery lasts me all day unlike my V1 that can not only barely last a SINGLE session but also drained like crazy during sleep mode. Idk if my Switch was just bugged but it just sucked. My OLED has none of that.
@@retrogamer64007 Yeah? I don’t even need the brightness that high. My iPad pro M1 goes up to 1200 nits which would probably melt your eyeball’s and that’s mini LED. Anybody who values their eyesight isn’t turning up their brightness that high. Both version’s of panels have nearly the same life expectancy in the Switch. If it ever needed to happen I can replace the panel myself but it will probably never burn out as long as I own the device.
Kudos to Wulff Den for priming up his oled model to induce burn in, the first content creator to think of the idea, I'll be looking forward to that. Burn in, & joycon drift sucks. Why is OLED the recommended model for new switch owners? HUD's, minimaps, speedometers from racing games, borders from retro games all of these have static elements that are potential risk to burn in, I don't want to worry about burn in if I'm 4 years behind the nintendo switch's game library catalog, I want to play nintendo games without babying my future switch
Modern OLED does not have burn in issues anymore, unless you somehow manage to play the same game/watch the same video hundreds or thousands of hours straight. My old iphone X has 0 burn in, my friends samsung has 0 burn in and there are no reports of switch OLED burn in even when stressed. If they would be the `original` oled design then sure, but now the tech has improved and oled burn in is just a boogeyman to tell scared shoppers.
I just want a Lite with OLED screen. Also, it seems more justified to make the Lite primary if you have both consoles, because it is more likely to take it with you on the road, far from an internet connection. Anyway, how often does Nintendo allow changing the primary console?
@@daveshank1921 that’s not true, you can manually do it as many time as you want on playstation. Its just that the internet reset can only be done 3 times a year (the one that you do when you don’t have the primary console anymore).
From the few hours I’ve had with mine I love it, it feels so much better than the original somehow, kinda makes me never want to touch anything but my OLED model. Hell I liked the lite more than the original, my normal Switch has been living it’s life in it’s dock for just about two years now and the OLED model might just change that.
Switch Lite is sturdier playing on the go, and nice brightness level for playing outside. I wonder if oled model has that both. My v2 kinda shaky a bit playing lying down
i have 2000 hours in splatoon 2. i can just imagine it now. i can see the 8 squids at the top of my screen everywhere. i see it in the plaza menu. i see it in animal crossing. i see it in breath of the wild. i see it when i'm eating dinner with my family. i see it when i close my eyes. i see it in my nightmares. it's been years and i still haven't found peace. i used to love splatoon, but now the image of the 8 squids haunt me everywhere i go. i no longer remember the joy of playing hours of turn war. i just see my screen dying with every second. i see it everywhere. and it will be the last thing i see before i die.
If it takes more than a week to create burn-in I think it’s really your fault at that point. Especially with the auto-dim, the system is doing everything it can to save power and keep the screen healthy. I don’t see burn-in being a problem with practical use.
burn in can actually happen within a few hours. but it takes a long time to be noticeable. now if you were to do what he is doing with botw there then yeah that will do it. honestly unless you play the exact same game non stop then yeah there would be burn in even with dimming.
I upgraded today from a "V2" Switch. Shockingly, Gamestop gave me $260 for the trade in towards the OLED. Unfortunately, it wasn't the white Joycon/dock version, but for not having a preorder, I'm glad to have got my hands on one. My biggest problem with the OLED Model is now I have a few useless Satisfye grips lying around, and the new grips don't start shipping until sometime next month. Considering grabbing the Hori Split Pad.
@@nathansstuff1547 I actually don't mind the neon controllers since I'll use my handy dandy neon yellow ones anyways. Also a black dock isn't all that bad. The craze for white will pass. And it's a easy swap to get 2 white joy con's unless the white dock is a must. I didn't preorder. UT folded and walked I to the Walmart and grabbed the last neon set oled. Liking how the colours are closer to a cell phone oled etc. Playing hades on it. Deep rich blacks.
Having multiple Switch is a nightmare sometimes. For such a “family friendly” company like Nintendo, they do an absolutely horrible job with games and their family accounts and authorizing purchases. I get it, they want you to buy multiple copies of the same game. Just kinda sucks.
I think maybe kids under 12 should have access to their parental account games at least. Both my kids have a switch lite and I have a regular switch, if I put one kids lite as a primary switch with my account then I try to play a game and my other kid jumps on to play another game we are screwed.
@@cheeseprincess647 why not just exclusively buy hard copies of games? The game costs are the same, and you don't have to spend as much on storage, and there is no worry about being kicked off randomly. Plus they actually have real physical value and one day will be part of someone's personal gaming museum. Physical only dude
@@Whatsup_Abroad I do for certain games but I also made my oldest kids lite my primary switch so I only had to buy some games my youngest won't play once. Like I bought one copy of pokemon pearl digital and we can both play the same time and trade pokemon etc. But I had a few games digital my youngest likes that I bought when we all shared a switch but now we have 3.
I was able to get one and couldn’t be happier being that I play in Handheld a bunch. I love it. The best thing - GameStop has never given more for the switch to trade in, $265 with the bonus towards the OLED. It was a fantastic upgrade for only $80
There’s a difference between “burn in” and “temporary image retention”. Burn in is incredibly rare and takes thousands of hours over a span of years to develop. Temporary image retention can happen more rapidly, but, it’s only temporary and goes away as the pixels refresh. So no, your screen isn’t “ruined” if you happen to develop image retention.
@@muertolamento and I've had my note 4 for 5 years and almost no burn in either, but just because it didn't happen to you doesn't mean it doesn't happen. I've known at least 5 people with keyboards burn in into their phones, it depends on your use and brightness mostly
ok you clearly do not know what you are talking about Burn In is with CRTs and happens when the phosphorus layer gets and image burned in to it by the electron ray and was not actually rare i saw a lot of TVs with burn in Image Retention is with LCD this because the liquid crystals can temporarily get stick in earlier screens this was more common but now is actually rare Burn Out is with OLED and happens when the OLED starts to burn out from prolonged use and this is not actually rare it is so common they actually have countermeasures built in to try and prevent it as much as possible yet it will still happen and the only fix for it after it happens is litteraly designed to burn out the rest of your screen to make all of the burn out even thus degradating the life of your screen so on an OLED switch will not get burn in or image retention but burn out and trust me OLED burn out is not temporary i had an old galaxy S7 i used to play Pokémon go with and it had a permanent pokeball on its screen plasmas also had burn out just like OLED and infect most of the countermeasures OLED uses to prevent burn out ware made for plasma screens
heres to anyone thinking of getting an OLED, first if you do i HIGHLY reccomend you to get a clear case over it because the white controllers have turned brown in LESS than a month. 2, get a screen protector, it got scrathed on the very first day just from me trying to put it in the dock.
I wish they would give you a device list where you could keep like 3 primary devices that way you could have multiple rooms in your house taken care of
Obviously the switch won't output 4k, but what I'm betting on for the future, and especially because they already announced the switch is only in the middle of it's lifetime, is that they'll add some sort of upscaling tech to the dock (or a new dock with upscaling capability). They already patented something in that realm, so that's where I'm betting they're going.
they did. its a shatter proof film. you can remove it if you want but be aware that if the screen shatters youll have to deal with all the glass splintering off and what not. *its easy to replace imo* I remvoed mine as it was damaged. just cleaned the glass and stuck a temperd glass screen protector on it. seems slightly brigheter to.
The upgrade to HDMI 2.0 was most likely for support for surround sound in games and movies rather than video upscaling. It may have also been added to allow for 10 and 12-bit color sampling as HDMI 1.4 can only muster up to 8-bit. Also, keep in mind HDMI 1.4 is capable of 4k resolutions at 30Hz or 30 FPS.
I am not sure how surround sound needs HDMI 2.0, since the Switch already technically supports surround sound (game-dependent) Although… HDR doesn’t sound too bad of an upgrade for Nintendo, especially for their colorful games
It being 5 year old internal hardware, is what keeps me from wanting it. You know Nintendo is going to release a more powerful Switch a lot sooner than later. I do like the white color scheme though.
I mean, good luck with that. At the rate the switch is selling Nintendo can milk the lite, v2, and oled for at least another 2 years. Maybe 3. It's still outselling everything else on the market. Another 20 million sales or so and it will officially be the best selling system of all time. They won't release their next system until the switch sales start to die down.
@@Whatsup_Abroad Its not about sales. Eventually its not going to be capable to play modern AAA multiplatform games like it has been. Consoles usually only last 5-6 years and the Switch wasnt that powerful to begin with.
@@jordankelly4684 Conversely, you are vastly underestimating what is required to run the games. The Witcher 3 is 6 years old now and runs on the Switch only with severe cutbacks, with resolutions that would make the 360 and PS3 blush. Or we have DOOM, a game that runs at a close to flawless 60fps on the base X1/PS4 consoles, hitting around 25-30fps on the Switch with what essentially equates to lower than low PC presets. That's on one of the most scaleable game engines out there as well, and is also 6 years old. How do you expect games that are designed for significantly more powerful hardware will make it to the Switch? Where exactly is the baseline limit for visual quality too, are we happy if we're counting the pixels on the screen by hand?
nintendo has been famous for useing old outdated hardware to achive great things. yeah the tegra is almost 7 years old now. but i bet here it is 2022 that the swith will be sold for another 5 years before they make a newer faster version.
I been trying to convince my wife that you and beatemups are two different dudes and it’s been about a year and a half and she still don’t believe me 🤣
I always love it when Bob records going to the Nintendo store :) I'll more than likely never be able to go, but I can see all the cool stuff they have for display
Hope you do some day. Ive had great memories there for over a decade. I was visiting it when they called it The Pokemon Store. Its been sad not being able to be there for the Smash events.
While burn in can be a problem with OLED screens, there are also OLEDs which can run for years without burn in problems. So we'll have to see how it turns out with this one.
@@caquita402 my old galaxy s7 does not have burn in the secret is Always dim meaning lowest dim.. i just auto bright it if i'm out. Got s9+ still no burn in and now s21 ultra.
@@caquita402 actually they could theroetically run indefinately as long as there is never any static elements displayed. the main issue would then be reduced brightness over a extended time period.
@@CotyRiddle from what i remember the pixels degrade over time regardless of it being static or not, burn in is just us noticing that a set of pixels has degraded at a faster rate than the others due to that set being used more. If you never had any static images the whole screen would look pleasant until it dies but it would still loose vibrancy and brightness over time
Screen burn in is exactly why I hate the trend of shoving an OLED screen onto everything. I'm mainly a gamer, and static images like a HUD causing burn in is exactly what keeps me from buying an OLED screen.
I was lucky and walked into my local small town GameStop right at open and picked up the white oled switch. It was definitely a pain in the ass to transfer ever from my old day one switch.
The game chips for your old switch, will it work on your new one? I don’t wanna use my Nintendo account for my old switch because my dad put parental controls on it and he doesn’t remember the pin, so I’m hoping i don’t have to rebuy all the games 😞

I got my OLED today after I saw it for the first time in person at GameStop and compared it side by side to the LED version. Traded my V2 and used a gift card to pay the remainder amount. So far, happy with it

@@ZamWeazle Well, when it comes to transfering your data, which is limited to transfering your profile and saves, without even thinking about moving the game. Why would either of you have 4? You only need a lite and a docked switch, max. Having 2 regular switches, a lite, and an oled? Wasting all ur money on Nintendo lmfao tf u doing
The main issue i have with my switch is the screen blur when stuff gets too fast for the screen to handle. Does the OLED screen handle refresh rate better?
I decide to stick with my Switch V2. In Indonesia, the price of Switch OLED is Idr 7,299,000 where the V2 is around Idr 4,000,000. So as You can see, the price almost double with the only "meaningful" aspect is "The OLED Screen". Not to mention the whole ecosystem for the accessories. My main use is handheld but I am not going to spend more money to upgrade from V2 to OLED just because of screen. Its silly since I can get a nice TV for the extra money though.
I only own a Switch Lite because it was a cheaper option for me at the time and it was a perfect size since all I played were visual novels and I constantly travel when I’m on the job, I’m almost never home lol. But now that I’m finally home more often and more financially stable, my desire for a base switch grew. I REALLY regret not going to my nearest retail store to get the OLED because I was waiting for reviews to come out for the device. I thank you for the suggestions on who to follow to get info on any stores that will restock. I can’t wait to get one because the white OLED is beautiful!
I cant help but appreciate this realistic perspective on the OLED switch, rather than being like everyone else that is going nucking futs over the screen alone
I love the Oled switch, decided to get it cause I had my one since launch. Just something about this Oled feels more premium about it, like it feels so solid and i like that, tho mine launch one has done some miles on it. The screen is gorgeous and having that .8 of a inch increase is noticeable to me. Great upgrade and having the net port just makes it even better, only wish Nintendos online netcode was decent.
Wait, why don't you use screen protectors? They help to protect your screen's factory oleophobic coating, and they also prevent micro-scratches from developing.
@@TucBroder I usually go through several screen protectors, before I find one that fits perfectly without any smudges or dust underneath. But, they're so cheap, there's no reason not to use one. Besides, the screen on the OLED Switch as a poor hardness rating (the UA-camr, JerryRigEverything gave it a 2/10 after performing some scratch tests). So, you'll want something to protect that delicate screen.
It would be great if Nintendo sold the Switch OLED without the joy-cons, at a lower price. I already have a pair of their crappy drifting joy-cons, and really don't need to buy a second pair. Just saying...
People, don't worry about burn. Screens are already good enough. Tv, phones with Oled and frankly I haven't problems with burn in. Back in the day with ps vita. That screen was really old technology Oled. Now, it can handle gaming and watching content perfectly
OLED screens are still just as susceptible burn-in. If you only play 1 game for long periods at a time, definitely don't buy an OLED switch. If you play a bunch of different games, it shouldn't be an issue.
@@RockBandRS it's more based on gameplay habits. You just can't turn off your screen, pause it or just press start to the main menu and it will avoid having the same icons on the screen The problem is actually thinking about it, you and I just simple do random things. My personal case is despite I play long session, I drink water, pause the game, sometimes check my phone for message (pause), a little bit of stretching (pause) So I'm pausing the game (kinda constantly), that's why neither my vita Oled has burn, my Sony A8F OLED with ps4, Ps5 and switch during 3 years of full gaming and Netflix, has a single burn. That's why my advice is just enjoy Oled. Unless (like this video) you let your console on the same scenario for unnecessary long time, then you are looking for burn.
@@abeld94 It can also happen gradually over time. On my previous phone (galaxy s8), I got burn in from playing Pokémon go daily during my morning walks. My walks are ~2 hours and my phone was on pretty much the entire time. The burn in didn't happen right away, but it did eventually happen. I think people just need to think about what they play and how long they play it before deciding on an OLED switch.
I got to GameStop four hours before they opened, but another guy had been there since midnight. He got the only Switch OLED...but my brother got me the only Switch OLED at his GameStop, and I'll get it from him this next weekend! I feel lucky...
I came really close to getting one. I was going to sell off my Switch Lite to help justify the expense. In the end though I just couldn't justify it. I play most of the time in handheld mode, and while the screen and everything is appealing, I'm fine. I'll look forward to whatever new developments come down the line maybe next year. Still holding out hope for a Switch Pro (well, at this point it might as well be a Switch 2, no need to go Pro).
I'm still really tempted to just get one, but I just haven't played on my switch in months now, and am already gonna buy the steamdeck when it comes out, so I'm gonna hold off until a game is announced/releases I'm interested in.
I'd really like an OLED Switch since I mostly play handheld, but my launch model still works fine and my wife has a Switch Lite, so we really don't need a third one. Update: We just got Ring Fit Adventure so my wife can have fun and exercise... but that means she needs a dockable Switch at home while I'm gone at work, so now I'm taking the Lite with me and leaving my regular Switch at home for her to use. OK, now I really need an OLED model to upgrade from the Lite. Thanks, Ring Fit.
a whole video talking about the new nintendo switch's issues, 20 minutes long, no fucking timestamps. Sorry, but I hate when people do this, I haven't gotten into the video yet but when I see this it feels like an unstructured video without actual talking points. Also, OLED burn-in is not nearly as easy to run into these days. Keeping something open for days without changing anything is where you run into problems, and I can't imagine someone actually gaming on the switch as it is for days at a time in the exact same game without turning it off for a couple of hours at a time every once in a while. On some OLED screens, it can take 4000 hours before you run into burn-in I've heard. He makes a couple of good points but I'm sure that there are a lot of people still buying this model as their first switch, like myself.
I agree, the setup / data transfer process is horrible. I had to re-download 500+ gb of games to the OLED. The plan now is to setup my old switch in the living room docked for my kids to use. I also disabled save sync so their saves won’t overwrite mine in the cloud.
I definitely want to upgrade to the Oled model, unfortunately, it will be super hard to get one that isn't resold for twice the price. And I know it's gonna be a pain to transfer my save data, even though I only have a fraction of the amount of games this dude got! 😆
I got lucky and didn't have work on the 8th and managed to be the 2nd person in line at gamestop wich had 20 non pre-ordered oleds just before everyone else got there and got mine at retail super unfortunate to those who don't have the same opportunitys
The biggest thing that could cause burn in is the giant black borders on retro games since the aspect ratio is wonky. If you play a lot of retro games that could be a concern.
I traded in my very degraded battery OG switch since I play 80% portable and I love it. The better build quality helps and they improved the joycon rail QC. My split pad still needs it's tape fix to stay tight, but the normal joycons are snug and great. I think it's that little metal bottom bit that flexes but I dare not ever try to bend those out flat for fear of ruining the pins :o
Oh god no... This is going to be something that will ruin my weekend won't it... I want the OLED so bad Bob! Why do this to me on a Friday?!? Should I wait till Monday to watch it???
People lining up for switch OLED is wild to me. Up here in Canada I literally just walked into the store this morning no preorder and got my white Switch OLED. Did the same thing with my launch switch in 2017 too.
My main concern is the HUD's causing burn in. HUD stands for Heads Up Display. In game development class we had to learn how to use HUDs in Unreal Engine 4
I have an LG OLED Tv. Have had it for 2 years. I have done plenty of gaming on it. Never have had any issues at all. I know LG does plenty to prevent burn in, and burn in is not as big of an issue as it used to be. I know the Switch uses Samsung panels instead of LG, but if you don't crank up the screen brightness, and turn on the 'burn in prevention' option, I can't imagine it's going to be a huge issue.
I got the OLED model this week and I have to say the screen makes a huuuuge difference. I used to play in docked mode but now it’s as enjoyable as handheld mode with the OLED screen.
Great video and looking forward to the OLED burn in test you’ve got going. I preordered the Blue Red OLED Switch from GameStop but hasn’t shipped. Does all of the non sense and pain Nintendo rewards you with for owning multiple Switch consoles, is it an issue if you only own hard copies of games? I only own digital games on my 3DS XL.
It gets rid of the issue of trying to play downloaded games on different consoles. The only thing you'll still have to do is transfer your save data back and forth depending on which system you're using. Any system will play the same physical cartridge with no issues. But the save data obviously isn't stored on the game cart, it's on your system/sd card. So you'd need to be uploading save data to the cloud regularly and downloading it again each time you want to resume a game on a different console.
My Switch OLED arrived extremely early on release day, and I've spent the last two days downloading all of my games back onto it. 🤣 I haven't had a chance to appreciate the new screen yet, but it does look miles better than the previous models.
I would totally buy the OLED switch. It looks almost perfect for me. Barring one thing. I have 4 Switches in this house. 2 for my kids, one for me to play at home, and one for me to take away with me when I travel for work. So the one that stays at home, stays permanently connected to the dock. So I use this for playing online, and so would benefit from the wired dock. But, my travel one is a launch switch, running CFW. I don't want to take all my game carts with me when I travel, as if I lose my switch, that would be bad enough. But to lose double the switches value in games too, that would be hard.

The flimsy kickstand, now being sturdy and adjustable
A bigger screen without the bezel

There’s a difference between “burn in” and “temporary image retention”. Burn in is incredibly rare and takes thousands of hours over a span of years to develop. Temporary image retention can happen more rapidly, but, it’s only temporary and goes away as the pixels refresh. So no, your screen isn’t “ruined” if you happen to develop image retention.
Burn in is NOT RARE. what you're talking about is for LCD, in OLED burn-in IS extremely common and can hapen in months depending on your use.

Image Retention is with LCD this because the liquid crystals can temporarily get stick in earlier screens this was more common but now is actually rare
Burn Out is with OLED and happens when the OLED starts to burn out from prolonged use and this is not actually rare it is so common they actually have countermeasures built in to try and prevent it as much as possible yet it will still happen and the only fix for it after it happens is litteraly designed to burn out the rest of your screen to make all of the burn out even thus degradating the life of your screen
so on an OLED switch will not get burn in or image retention but burn out
and trust me OLED burn out is not temporary i had an old galaxy S7 i used to play Pokémon go with and it had a permanent pokeball on its screen
plasmas also had burn out just like OLED and infect most of the countermeasures OLED uses to prevent burn out ware made for plasma screens
heres to anyone thinking of getting an OLED, first if you do i HIGHLY reccomend you to get a clear case over it because the white controllers have turned brown in LESS than a month.
11:45 I’m pretty sure Nintendo said you shouldn’t remove the pre-applied switch oled screen protector.
they did. its a shatter proof film. you can remove it if you want but be aware that if the screen shatters youll have to deal with all the glass splintering off and what not. *its easy to replace imo* I remvoed mine as it was damaged. just cleaned the glass and stuck a temperd glass screen protector on it. seems slightly brigheter to.
The checking does makes sense because if you sell your switch, they don't want the next guy to have free access to all your digital games
I am not sure how surround sound needs HDMI 2.0, since the Switch already technically supports surround sound (game-dependent)

Why would either of you have 4? You only need a lite and a docked switch, max. Having 2 regular switches, a lite, and an oled? Wasting all ur money on Nintendo lmfao tf u doing
@@Spookypikachuu it’s 100% irrefutably a waste of money, but go off
Linus just made a video about OLED burn in. Watch it before you buy. Burn in can occur after couple of weeks, depending on use.
The main issue i have with my switch is the screen blur when stuff gets too fast for the screen to handle. Does the OLED screen handle refresh rate better?
Idk what I love more the ads or the main content... 😂
Me as a mechanical engineer:
“Why do people say it’s .1” bigger or 1mm? 1mm is .039”?!?!”
I have a similar situation to you, except I don’t have enough money at the moment to get one lmao
That was a fantastic ad placement well done. It looks well shot and everything 🤠.
The OLED Nintendo Switch's Biggest Issue: I can't get my hands on one.
I don't use one, but that's only because I can't get them on without leaving air bubbles everywhere... I just can't.
I'm sticking with my good ol switch until a pro version comes out
Once a pro version comes out I’ll sell my oled
Woah! I can't believe this, I walked right past you at Nintendo New York and I didn't even see you haha. Glad you got a copy!
It would be great if Nintendo sold the Switch OLED without the joy-cons, at a lower price. I already have a pair of their crappy drifting joy-cons, and really don't need to buy a second pair. Just saying...
That's the equivalent of selling the 3ds without a charger
Oh wait a minute
nintendo said the new joycons are more robust
I love the aesthetics of your videos. I watch just for clean shots.
People, don't worry about burn.
Screens are already good enough. Tv, phones with Oled and frankly I haven't problems with burn in.
Back in the day with ps vita. That screen was really old technology Oled.
Now, it can handle gaming and watching content perfectly
I still have my OG OLED vita and she has no burn in at all ❤️🤔
OLED screens are still just as susceptible burn-in. If you only play 1 game for long periods at a time, definitely don't buy an OLED switch. If you play a bunch of different games, it shouldn't be an issue.
@@RockBandRS it's more based on gameplay habits. You just can't turn off your screen, pause it or just press start to the main menu and it will avoid having the same icons on the screen
The problem is actually thinking about it, you and I just simple do random things.
I’m glad someone’s doing this, thanks for taking one for the team!! 👍
I found mine in a Meijers (which is like a more local Walmart) try non-electronic stores!
We have tons available here
Best Buy seems to have some when I checked.
And Zelda games with the red hearts. You’ll burn out red pixels quicker in shape of hearts.
Thank you for the burn in test. Very much appreciated. I think everyone is waiting for an actual answer. Can't wait for the burn in video.
The most nagging issue is the joycon drift something you cannot prevent and it was not fixed by Nintendo and its present in the oled model as well.
Oh deer i hope mine doesn’t do that🙄
Best videos on UA-cam. The editing, cinematography, transitions, everything. Such a vibe
Oh god no... This is going to be something that will ruin my weekend won't it... I want the OLED so bad Bob! Why do this to me on a Friday?!? Should I wait till Monday to watch it???
Watch it, there's nothing to worry about
Already watch it
GO buy the switch
People lining up for switch OLED is wild to me. Up here in Canada I literally just walked into the store this morning no preorder and got my white Switch OLED. Did the same thing with my launch switch in 2017 too.
Lucky 😭
Thanks for the information Jerry!
I got the OLED model this week and I have to say the screen makes a huuuuge difference. I used to play in docked mode but now it’s as enjoyable as handheld mode with the OLED screen.
Nintendo should have just waited until they make a true "Switch 2" with OLED and a bigger screen but with increased power
The end of that Express VPN ad had some strong Aphex Twin Windowlicker vibes lmao
@@kidamnesiak1 Got it, not ideal and Nintendo should be better in 2021 but I’ll live. Thanks!
No issues with physical whatsoever
So I buy a game, dump it, then stick it on my travel switch to play when away. So this switch is always played handheld, and so would benefit from the increased battery life and the better screen. But obviously can't put CFW on the OLED. Yet. As soon as that's figured out, I'm all in on an OLED.
I am sure CFW works fine on OLED they didnt change the bootup systems so its the same as all switches
@@xXLucromXx They have patched the Nintendo Switch from CFW since before the Mariko switches. So there is no way, currently, to run CFW on newer hardware unfortunately. Or else I'd already have a longer battery life version as my travel switch.
@@stewartmacdonald601 Ah fair enough I knew there were some versions for the 3/2DS when I modded that one but I didnt know switch had those aswell (never modded my old v1 switch)
Got my OLED Switch on order weeks ago. Should have turned up on Friday... but will turn up on Monday now. Which is fine.
Does it bother anyone else hearing "Oh-Elle-EE-Dee" instead of "Oh-Led"?
No
I can’t believe I walked into a GameStop and they had ONE! By the time the haze cleared I had it in a bag and I was heading out the door.
