The switch has such a solid library, it's insane. If the switch successor has backwards compatibility, the library will be insane
If only there was some software method to preserve the switch library and have it available to play on multiple devices and platforms. If only
If the new Switch has backwards compatibility then I'm definitely on board 😱😱😱🤞🏿🤞🏿
@@nickentros Yeah, and if only Nintendo wouldn't try to sue and shut down that software method because it offers better compatibility than an actual switch
It will definitely be backwards compatible. Their comments make that clear and they also have started to care about user accounts and purchases.
The next Switch has to be backwards compatible. I mean maybe it doesn’t “have to be” but like I’m expecting them to make the next device backwards compatible if it’s not I’ll be….just a loss for words.
I’m totally expecting them to make it backwards compatible based on everything they’ve said so far.
It doesn’t feel like 7 years, this system really reinvigorated my video game playing.
love playing rereleases that much?
@@budfahnestock2418Yes, playing the complete games of the past reminds me of the previous generation of video games, that were released in their complete states and not need DLC
@@budfahnestock2418 honestly yes, I loved playing the first party Nintendo games, playing some old NES and SNES games and replaying some old RPGs was a blast.
@@stephens9772 i've been emulating since the mid 90's so i don't really feel the need for a switch for that. i literally have a collection of systems that can play 30k+ games including switch. the switch literally felt like going backwards when i got one. now that we have things like the steamdeck, it feels obsolete
@@EXShadowEX i'm just not cool with paying full price for games that i already own, or games that i've been playing for free, or playing said games on inferior hardware. the only game i can say that i had no issue paying more for is mario kart 8 and the dlc. it has a special place in my heart for me and my wife and i will always play the series and whatever new tracks that come out. other than that i feel the switch was outdated on release. the few comments i got on this comment kind of opened my eyes though, didn't realize people actually felt this way when it's so easy to emulate
11:10 It's worth pointing out that Gabe Newell has stated the Steam Deck is *not* sold at a loss, it's just sold at an extremely thin margin (which is part of the reason that don't sell it through retailers.)
And having their sale once a year
Selling it at loss would be also illegal in some countries
its sold at most game stops in the us right now there is like 4 close enough to me all of them have the oled lcd and the dock
@@thebeast7590new?
@@AshLordCurry What countries? Almost every console is sold at a loss.
I legitimately bought my OLED this year, I’m 36 and haven’t owned a Nintendo product since GBA, that being said, I was very happy with it.
Legitimately, you say? 🤨
Did you illegitimately acquire a switch last year or something?
@@YixdyOh God, why is this funny, don't be mean but also why am i laughing 😵
Switch helped me immensely in early sobriety and helped me fall in love with gaming again in my 30s. I be questing and handheld pcing it these days but thats all thanks to me falling in love with my switch when i only had a few weeks clean time and then the world shut down for covid.
Thank you Nintendo
I’m so proud of you, Keep up the great work! Glad you were able to kick an awful habit while also rediscover your childhood love. That’s the comeback of the year!
Congrats on your sobriety. That is all I wanted to say. Hope you're going strong! Keep on keeping on! You got this!
This truly is, a top 3 Nintendo console of all time. Incredible games, fun ability to dock/play portably. Just an all around fantastic console.
Let’s be real, it’s the best one.
@@ZumiiPossibly. If you were around for the SNES era, that was an amazing time.
@@johnmarstall I was, but I was a Mega Drive kid :)
GameCube/Wii number 3, Wii U number 2 , Switch best Nintendo system
With the circumstances of its release and the competition the Switch has faced, I'd say the Switch is the best gaming system ever even over the DS and PS2.
The year of the backlog, its time has finally come! 🙌
That’s what I’m saying. PLEASE I have so many games I wanna play…
As I play only Balatro with hundreds of games in my backlog. Such is life.
Finally someone saying that! I really can use some months with no big releases and catch up
For reeeal I’ve gotten through like 1 backlog game in the past year😭 working hard on the 2nd!
We need something new, it really is time.
That being said, I still rock my Switch, in some aspects it's still fresh as day one. My favorite console of all time.
Im sure there will be future mods once we are a couple consoles ahead ?
Still as “fresh” as a turd can be. It has the worst feature set out of any of the consoles. It’s only saving grace is it’s portable and even that’s not unique anymore. Terrible account system, inconsistent and frankly bad performance, overpriced and stagnant game prices, ect.
@@INCINERATEDDthere are already ways to mod them. Taki Udon actually has a good video on what it can do currently. That being said i think once official support is dropped for the switch we’re gonna see all kinds of crazy mods and homebrew for it
Me too! I've turned to playing mostly on PC in recent years, and sometimes my Switch remains in standby for a couple of months. But I always come back to it and play one of the hundreds of games I have on it.
You know what I almost never play? My PS5 😂
The SWOLED was a great system refresh, really gave my library a second life.
Switch is a huge success. Not only in sales but it has reinvigorated the portable market.
That raging "So where do I get my ROMs dog" 😂
Knew it was vimm’s layer even though the out of focus blurred screen. Bob’s a real one
Sorry to be that guy but vimm's lair is just mid.
@@onusc7578 If your post starts with "I hate to be that guy", and you post it anyway, you're that guy.
How @@onusc7578
@@onusc7578your not that guy pal... your not that guy
@@onusc7578Could you explain WHY it’s “mid”? I personally don’t see anything wrong with it and I’ve used it for a few of my game downloads
I got my Switch in November 2018 right before Smash Ultimate released, in that time I've gotten probably more out of it than any other console I've owned, definitly more than any since my DS Lite or PS2... I got back into Mario after nearly a decade with Odyssey and I beat my first Zelda, Metroid and Kirby game on the Switch with BOTW, Prime Remastered and Forgotten Land among many others and I've still got a huge backlog.
I'm ready to move on but that's just the circle of life for consoles, the Switch generation has been incredible!
I always say, the weaker the console the more people will enjoy it. Whoever thinks they need 4K 60FPS is delusional. For example you have played it more then any other console ever. 720p 25/30 fps is all we need. I hope the market adapts
That short compilation of you raging at Mario RPG had me ROLLING!!! XD
I'm in the same boat as you Bob, my switch collects dusts now. I found more enjoyable experiences on my Asus rog ally/PS5. I'm really happy alot of switch owners are extremely happy with their switchs. It just doesn't offer me an immersion that I need in gaming anymore. Its a potato 😅
I couldn't get into Princess Peach 💫🙆♂️ in my late 20s, im more into Assains creed rn and Call of duty. Princess is cool but ya. Not playing my switch these days
Some people will definitely not buy the new switch. They believe its only a good console if its outdated and junky to play. If Nintendo makes a more powerful console those fans will not buy it. They'll play on there cell phone. They can't tolerate big, high quality games.
Bruh ppl buy Nintendo purposefully for the bad graphics, thats a fact. Nobody would buy it if it had ps5 or Xbox or pc graphics. Its about the low res thats the appeal!
The bad graphics is kind of the point? Look at the DS vS the vita? With Nintendo the fans only want bad quality graphics. That will never change
@@Hackysmacks300Cyou think? I've never seen a Nintendo gamer enjoy higher quality games and visuals. And thats ok. Just cuz a console plays games slowly or Janky doesn't mean ppl dont want it
I love my Switch. I bought one day 1 and I do still use it too.
But it’s time. The chip in the Switch is 9 years old and it shows. We all just want the same thing but stronger. We want to play our games at frame rates that don’t make us feel sick.
FYI - Valve has a contingency plan in place for unlocking everyone's purchases in case they shut down, or so I've read over the years
I wouldn't believe any such thing about that company. If you look into their business practices they are a lot more sinister than their public image would have you believe.
@@darinherrick9224 OK buddy thanks for the heads up!
You should be a voice actor. Bobs voice on a Chihuahua is the next airbud movie.
You did the 5 years video too. Scott the Woz did one for the 6 years. I’ll be looking forward to your 9 years with the Nintendo Switch video~
Honestly the switch is still my go to platform for most games, it's easy to pick up and play, the library is massive, don't have to mess around with settings if i wanna play retro games, and the oled screen is fantastic. I mostly use my steam deck to play triple a games that don't make it to switch, but otherwise the system still holds up fairly well but I am excited to see what's to come next year.
If the Switch successor definitely is backwards compatible AND runs the old games at a better framerate and resolution, that will be sweet as
That's the only way I'm buying one at launch
@@xephyrxero yeah cus there probably won't be any amazing launch titles.
Maybe Metroid Prime 4 but that's most likely going to be cross gen
your ads are always so much fun, i really appreciate that you take the time and effort to make every part of your videos as watchable as possible.
I’m the same. The Switch used to be my main console, and I still like it for first-party stuff, but I buy a lot of games on Steam Deck now.
I think what will sway me next gen, aside from the Switch 2’s power, is how comfortable it is compared to the Steam Deck, whose bulk I do start to feel during gaming sessions.
Well, TuniC switch or TuniC on deck (+whatever pc/laptop)
Nuff said
@@pranze3484er. . . Not tunic the game, right? What's TuniC? All I'm finding is the game lmao
Got a Steam Deck and my OLED Switch is laying around gathering dust.
Major reason i got the deck was because After so long with the switch, ANIMAL CROSSING IS NEVER ON SALE, NINTENDO GAMES ARE MAD EXPENSIVE!!! DAMN!!!!
On my Deck i have cheaper games from steam sales, I installed cracked games too and the ergonomics is just beautiful.
Did i mention how expensive switch games are???
Also, no refunds.
After holding a steam deck for a while and then holding a switch, I got the same feeling you were feeling. It just feels so magical. So small and so handheld friendly. The switch is just purely beautiful.
Sometimes I really feel like hardcore Nintendo fans have Stockholm syndrome.
@@GonzoraDifferent people like different designs and that's okay. The Steam Deck is a lot more comfy but a lot more bulky from what I understand. That said, never really held a Switch....
@@Gonzora i love my steam deck but it does get heavy on the wrists after a while and the switch doesn't, in my opinion.
@@Gonzora don't worry, even if Switch 2 will be heavier and larger than Steamdeck they will still say that Switch 2 feels better than Steamdeck 😂
Because they said PS Vita was too large for a handheld compared to 3DS and then they praised Switch. But "oh no, Steamdeck is an inch wider, cannot hold it". Truly a Stockholm syndrome.
The switch is uncomfortable for me it cramped my hands bad the steam while it’s heavy feels much better in my hands. Also I hate the joycons
I only got a switch for the first time this January. I bought a used switch lite. It is very fun and affordable.
My switch gets more play than anything right now as I've made 2024 the year of the backlog. PS5 plays destiny 2 and that's it. I've been breaking the seal on some games that I bought and never got around to playing and I have all year to play them. I'm quite enjoying this setup because I'm not constantly pushing back the backlog with a new release or new game expansion on either system. I want by the time the switch to eventually drops that I'm pretty much caught up.
Since I got portal I haven’t touched my switch. I miss the 3rd party games
Omg, that ad with your dog was excellent 😂 really made me chuckle, especially when he shouted (yawned).
Do love how UA-cam assumed the game was "Just Dance 3"
Man it’s crazy that when I first got this thing, I was only 12 years old. Now im 19. I have had this thing longer than I had my childhood 3DS, but it doesn’t feel like it. Might genuinely be one of the best consoles of all time, i’ve played so many games throughout these past 7 years especially RPGs that I never thought I’d ever enjoy as a kid. My Switch’s GPU is starting to act a little wacky, so it’s time it got replaced now.
It’s crazier that you were 12 in 2017 lol
@@kalin1786Well 2017 was 7 years ago, time flies
I was 17 in 2017 and it feels like it was yesterday. I don't have a Nintendo Switch but I bought my current phone that year and until few months ago I was still using the same PC as I had in 2017
@@Pasi123I was 17 in 2017 too lol. But despite only being 5 years older than OP, them saying they were 12 in 2017 really made me do a double take
I’m kinda also obsessed with handhelds.
Something about sitting somewhere with a device in your hands that I just really enjoy. Ever since the gameboy days.
Backward and forward compatibility would be lovely! I'd jump to Switch 2 pretty fast!
I got the switch on Day 1 and 7 years later it properly my favourite system after the Playstation 2 and Gamecube. Despite being a underpowered tablet I spent countless hours playing it and it's become my RPG machine, I have almost 100 physical games for this system which is more then any other system I own.
Out of curiosity, what are your top rpgs on it (no need for a precise order)? I would like to see if I missed an interesting title.
I love my Switch, but I didn’t really buy any third party games for it. Maybe a more powerful console will help change that
It is my favorite system. Period. I can't believe what this console manage to accomplished.
I bought a Gamecube at launch (a bundle that included Wave Race, Star Wars Rogue Squadron 2, Madden, and Luigi's Mansion), and not even nostalgia would ever make me rank the GC above the Switch 😅
@@Gonzora Hmm that hard, if i go with RPGs that are Exclusive to the switch
1. Xenoblade Chronicles 3
2. Xenoblade Chronicles 2
3. Octopath Traveler
4. Shin Megami Tensei V
5. Fire Emblem Three Houses
"The Switch has basically nothing slated this year"
- Another Code Recollection--reviving a fan beloved DS/Wii series completely remaking the first game and bringing the sequel to the West for the furst time ever
- Super Princess Peach Showtime--First Princess Peach game in years
- Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door on Switch--on of the most fan-beloved Nintendo games of all time, that fans have been asking for a re-release for over a decade finally being made accessible and available to over 139+ milliom Switch players
- Endless Ocean Luminous--reviving a cult classic Wii series after 15 years
- Pokémon Legends Z-A--fullfilling the fan-request for a a 3rd Kalos game, continuing to build on the experimental, successful Legends Arceus game, MEGAS ARE BACK, not rushed out for holiday sales [2025 i know, but my point still stands. Nintendo has much more planned than "basically nothing". And a lot of it looks great, and is great for game accessibility and preservation]
It's still pretty slim pickings so far compared to previous years, especially from Nintendo themselves. None of their main franchises have anything announced aside from the Peach spinoff and the TTYD remaster both technically checking the 'Mario' box. Nothing from any of their other major franchises, including other spinoffs, or even any of their smaller franchises.
I want to get another code recollection at some point. I liked the game on DS.
That closing comment about the podcast - LOLin' over here. Thanks for that my dude.
The Surfshark spot was brilliant * _chef's kiss_ *
I think you're wrong on the sales being driven by the hardware. Many of my co-workers & friends have a switch, not because of the hardware, but solely for Animal Crossing, Pokemon, Mario, Zelda Etc. Nintendo's 1st Party library is what drives sales of their consoles.
And that is othe only reason left to get a Switch2 because Steamdeck will get most of other 3rd party games much more faster and much more cheaper.
@@Sly2CooperVery few people really ever bought a Switch for the hardware
@@duckyishappy that's what I said. Nintendo games is now the only reason to get a Switch 2.
Tell that to the WiiU
@@CaptainEffortThe Wii U didn't get a system selling game until the switch came out......

i like when he makes the dog talk. its very humorous
I got my Switch day one with Zelda. I was 17 back then. It was a time where so many good things happened to me. Sometimes it was a little to much good things at once. It was a magical feeling to then grab my Switch an play Zelda for ours. It‘s hard to describe what this feeling actually was. I mean its a little bit weird for someone to want to escape from all the positive things happening around them. But somehow my Zelda play sessions gave me strength to keep pushing in a times where I was very exausted
As much as people shit on the switch, The switch walked so the steamdeck (and others like it) could run. If there wasn't a switch, most non-nintendo handhelds wouldn't exist.
Nintendo was walking so that Steam Deck could run. Now Nintendo is effectively sitting on it's arse instead of actually walking.
1:36 BRO how did you buy 3 Switch games in 2023?!???
1. Fire Emblem Engage (January 20th)
2. Metroid Prime Remastered(February 8th)
3. Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe (February 24)
4. Bayonetta Origins (March 8th)
5. Advance Wars Reboot camp (April 21)
6. Zelda Tears of the Kingdom (May 12)
7. Everybody 1,2 Switch (June 30th)

9. Detective Pikachu Returns (October 8th)
10. Super Mario Bros Wonder (October 20th)
11. Wario Wear Move it (November 2)
12. Super Mario RPG remake (November 17)
13. F-Zero 99
14. Pikmin 1+2
The year was crazy!! How did you buy only 3 games?
I think with his backlog he'll be fine.
@@skycloud4802 yeah that’s probably why he barely bought anything, I don’t buy that many games myself because I have a bunch of games on my Switch already. But I mean he said that as if he didn’t care for more than 3 games on the system which is surprising tbh.
Yeah this video was pretty disingenuous.
I really like these looking back videos!
Thank you for using your platform to help express the community's thoughts and "needs." I'm hoping they give us the Switch 2, "Bob Edition."
I think it’s time we stop trying so hard to play the newest games when we haven’t even played all the classics yet
🫂
It didn't feel like seven years. The Switch still feels so modern and mainstream.
I dont think people gove the switch as much praise as it really deserves. Its the first successful convergent device. Which is a fact that really cant be understated. The steamdeck took it a step further. And its only a matter of time before the feature finally takes off with phones (where the idea started). The primary hurdle is the ARM processor. Which apple is already defaulting all development to. Point is people werent open to the idea of docking handhelds until nintendo came along. And thats huge.
I really appreciate that your ads are so entertaining. I don't skip ads for any creator, but I actually want to watch yours.
Ayyyyy last time I was this early my wife left me 😅

Oh no XD
😭😭😭
Best mid-roll ads on UA-cam. I hope you get paid handsomely for these Bob (and team).
I bought a Wii U right before the Switch was announced, and thus put off ever getting a Switch until I felt I had the time and money and actual reason to, and now it feels like the same thing is gonna happen with whatever the next console is...
I just bought my first switch a few weeks ago, man I've been missing out. It's so fun
I’ve owned my switch since 2018 and I’m only really starting to appreciate it now. I almost exclusively played Pokemon and Smash (with friends), but I picked up Kirby and the Forgotten Land and it’s opened my eyes to the actual quality and fun of Nintendo games. I’ve missed out on so many switch games that I’ll be looking to pick up this year. After the entire video game industry has moved to live service cash grabs, it’s been fun to play a newer game that gives you the entire package upfront, and prioritizes being genuinely fun.
That shot with all the switches on the desk is 🔥
I love how all of your ad reads have funny skits attatched
When coming from actual quality experiences from consoles and PC, trying to play my Switch just makes me frustrated nowadays. The first-party library really saved the Switch
I'm very happy that Switch came as my alternative gaming companion besides my PS4 and PC. I can go to wherever I go, especially if I need some paperworks to do and I have to wait in line for something or some boring family gathering, to keep me company.
With that note, I'm excited for the next Nintendo console and I hope it's less Cloud versions because RE2 remake is locked at cloud version because they can't handle the game's graphics. I'm excited to play that game again but in the next gen and I hope CAPCOM release an offline game of it with full content as well.
still rocking the og model switch which i got with my 11th bday money, still going strong too
Still have never owned a Switch. The reason? The price of software consistently drives me away. Every time I think about picking one up, I look at a few games I might want to buy and everything is still pretty much full price. The games that I was interested in that aren't first party, I already own on Steam (given my Steam account is now 20-years old. Yes, I'm ancient) and I have no interest in buying them for Switch at an inflated price.
Then, I was already burned by the Wii and 3DS, where I bought the same old NES games more than once; I am also not interested in paying extra for basic online services such as Cloud saves.
Sure, I'm a PC gamer first and foremost and have been since the early-90's, but I dabble in consoles and have more than one portable first party console right next to me as I type this. I'd love to have a Switch, but with the issues of cost, not making my purchases portable, expensive, necessary repairs (stick drift), I just don't see myself buying one or even a Switch 2. Nintendo games are fun, sure, but not worth the price of entry when I already have thousands of games available to me on Steam and other platforms; am I really going to enjoy Breath of the Wild that much more than Elden Ring that it's worth all the additional cost?
Not just software, but hardware too. I can't even find (actual) cheap deals on Switch consoles. I used to get loads of good late adopter Nintendo bundles late into their cycles.
Like I got New 2DS XL + Mario Kart 7 (digital code), Fire Emblem Echoes Shadows of Valencia + another good game that I forget of, for like £145. I once saw Dead or Alive Dimensions in Argos bargain bin for £5.
I got DS Lite and about four DS games for like £100. Gameboy Advance with two or three games for like £80.
Your ads are amazing 😂😂😂 creativity is beyond mind blown
You're right dude. They have to try harder. They can't just be the quirky family console
101 million wiis sold said otherwise, to say nothing of 140 million switches
not good for gamers but the companies follow the money y'know?
I still use my my OG first gen I bought the day it came out...... works amazing
My Switch is now just for exclusive. My Switch took most of my time but the ROG Ally really wins so far due to the versatility
That ad was amazing man
My Odin 2 basically become a Switch Pro for me. It runs nearly every Switch game at 1080p docked mode on the handheld screen, the screen quality itself is far better than the original model, its got far better ergonomics and its got a 6-7 hour battery life. I'm happy with it as my Switch replacement at this point.
After comparing some games with my switch and ally its been tough going to my switch. The ally is so much clearer and smoother
Got my switch oled back in '22 so it's still new for me . 🤗
As I've gotten older, the lack of ergonomics has really held it back. I can only play it for a little with the joycons and most 3rd part options lack some features. Ive also been playing more on my steamdeck ever since i got one last year
I LOVE Bob’s Ads 😂😂
I NEVER skip them!!
NEVER‼️
bummer that the Switch successor got pushed back, I was really looking forward to it this year.
So glad this video came out
Top 3 Favorite Gaming Devices Ever
1. PS Vita 2000 (black)
Bought it used for $100 in May 2017 on Craigslist. Maybe only an 8.5/10 condition. Wasn’t aware of LetGo/OfferUp until 2020. I’m a Sony guy and PS1 is my all-time favorite console and PSP was my favorite handheld. Vita is backwards compatible to them both. Any PSP or PS1 game, I can play it on a modded Vita.
I don’t think Switch and Deck will ever surpass Vita as my favorite. Perfect size and great and comfortable design. And if it’s modded, it takes things to another level. True, Deck is way more capable with emulation. But my Vita doesn’t feel that dated after a dozen years. And it easily has one of the best d-pads on a handheld.
I’ve had some issues with my Vita since getting it modded over a year ago. Adrenaline used to freeze it a ton if I didn’t close the PS1 or PSP game properly. But the minor issues have gone away with the help of useful plugins. And using DualShock 4 for it can still be a slight hit or miss as it won’t always connect each time.
Ironically, I do use my Vita the least among my top 3. It’s mostly used these days for watching Family Guy and Mike Judge’s Beavis and Butt-Head. Battery health is still surprisingly excellent after nearly 7 years and it could be older than that as I’m just the second owner. Battery health tells me over 90-92% which is insane. I don’t feel the degradation to it either.
If my Vita battery ever does wear out, I’ll buy another battery to replace it. If ever does break, I’ll buy another Vita. Same 2K model because I’m not a fan of the 1K model. I find OLED overrated. Didn’t like the 1K’s proprietary port, rear panel where the pads are too narrow and makes it easy to touch the touch panel, the black blotches, and the weaker battery life.
I always found the Vita phat to feel bulky and heavy. Was never comfortable to me when I borrowed it from my cousin for a month and then owned briefly for 2 days. I want to try own a Vita 2K model for the rest of my life even if Sony releases another handheld and it can play Vita games perfectly without the need of an emulation app like Vita3K. That Vita 2K form factor is perfect for my needs.

I got the Switch on day 1, the first console I ever got for myself at launch. Now I have about 200 games for it, over 30 of them I haven't even started (they were on sale). Plus I still have a wishlist with another hundred or so games. As much as I'm looking forward to the next system from Nintendo I'm perfectly happy with the current Switch and all the games I have for it, which is more than any other system, even more than my Steam library. It's been a great generation for Nintendo.
Great Stuff, as always.
I’m still plowing through my backlogs lol
Recently, I just hit 150 games on my Switch. All digital, of course, but still, I didn’t even thought I would have bought this many games for my Switch, and have such a HUGE backlog to go through when I first bought the Switch 3 years ago.
I just started playing my switch more recently, before I was mainly playing on pc. I always wanted to play splatoon ever since it first came out on the wii u but i never got the console, now I have the switch oled and splatoon 3 so thats what ive been playing 24/7 since side order came out.
WULFF DEN makes me think of Nintendo, Emulation, and Super Mario platformers the most. I like the videos on indie games too. I found a good handful of great indies from watching your videos and livestreams. Cursed to Golf was a fun pick. Mina The Hollower is in my top 3 MOST anticipated games regardless of console or game status. I would love to even play the outdated demo but dang it. Based on the footage I’ve seen it will be exactly the kind of game I love and very likely will surpass Shovel Knight on my fav indies (is Yacht Club still “indie” .. not sure but you get the point).
you just reminded me that I didn’t finish TOTK, It might be a good time to charge the switch
The thing that would make this device go from great to amazing is if it were capable of doing 1080p@60FPS, because for me, that's the only thing holding me back from using it every single day. I'm used to my PC and PS5, so having to leave those to switch (hehe, no pun intended) back to 720p@30FPS is difficult. Though I've still thoroughly enjoyed my Switch, I started with a Switch Lite Pokémon Sword and Shield limited edition but upgraded to an actual Switch when they went on sale (also to keep the limited edition one in pristine shape because I love how it looks). The Switch has brought me two of my all-time favorite games, being Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. I most certainly hope that their next console will be more powerful and have backwards compatibility with Switch games, because I would love to play both of these games at higher framerates and resolutions.
Most current Switch games aren't even hitting a locked 720p @ 30 fps either... Only a handful of 1st party Nintendo games, and even then they're suffering from performance issues (or dynamic resolution that drops it below HD).
Whatever you’ve been doing with your hair is working bro! Looking good 👍
just got Balatro and finally found a reason to pick up my Switch again. Nothing beats the convenience and battery life of the Switch
I have been using the Switch since 2019 and I still love it for the Nintendo first party stuff and a bit of the third party stuff. I was never the one who was fascinated by the Witcher 3 or Doom on there because it didn’t feel right. I mostly played JRPGs or Hollow Knight.
Now, like you said, it feels pointless to want to try third party stuff on the Switch. I feel more space is opened up to just dedicate it to first party only.
I currently want a Steam Deck simply to play Indies and JRPGs on. I fully understand that I could play AAA games on there, but I don’t find interest in it if a PC is more suitable without draining the battery or damaging something. The Steam Deck feels like the new Indie machine and I am very excited for that because I do enjoy handheld play.
This is another great video. I love your current Steam Deck based content. I can’t wait to see how you expand your content more.
I’ve only just got a switch and have been enjoying it so far
I'm really fine waiting until next year for the Switch successor. The Switch has such a fantastic library of games and I have a lot in my backlog I have yet to play and I haven't even picked up Tears of the Kingdom yet. Even if I'm not ready by next year, I'll still be happy with just having the Nintendo Switch to play games on until I'm ready to move on.
Happy 7th anniversary to the Nintendo Switch! 🎉
Got my switch last December after asking for it for like 2 years, obviously at the end of its lifespan but man I’ve already had a blast with it. Gonna ride the switch until it just becomes totally obsolete or mines gets some problems down the road, cuz I’m genuinely in no rush.
I got myself a Switch Lite last Christmas. Beautiful thing.
I've been playing on my phone for years now, mobile ports were my go to and well I just wanted to step up. Having a phone and a controller wasn't gonna cut it for me and time for me to get an actual decent gaming rig. The Switch Lite was cheap and it was an entry point.
I love it. I got all the Devil May Crys (2 included, got it on sale), all the Bayonettas, Dying Light, Borderlands, all the games I missed out on. All the games. I can finally experience them.
Although the 13k library includes those cheaply made games usually for phones or those ones I once found on a ROM site for the PSP. It reminded me of late android games where they just pumped out very basic stuff. There are a lot but indie titles and big ports as well make up for it. Plenty to explore.
The Switch is a blessing for people of my financial situation.
I've been looking into buying into the PC handhelds as well but if they're just gonna be that bad then I'd just wait for the PSP 2 or the Switch 2.
Plenty to play on my Switch. Plenty to master.
Another great video! I am in the same boat, switched to Steam, it’s just so much more versatile and it has an awesome library. I’m still playing the first party stuff on Nintendo Switch but i’d rather have them release their games on Steam. I don’t want to be forced to play the games I buy on one system. I want to be able to switch from handheld to PC to change the type of experience I’m having whenever I feel like it.
I am unironically playing my wii u more than my switch, ever since I hacked it. Support for the switch has slowed waaaaaay down these couple months. You can really tell they’re putting their cards in for the Switch 2. For now, the only two things I can see me getting on my switch is TTYD and MP4. The last time I sat down and played my switch for a good amount of time was when I got SMRPG, in mid December.
Such a good vid!
I ended up getting a Steam Deck for Christmas last year and I haven't played my Switch since then. There's still games I own that I still want to play on it though.
The Steam Deck is also taking purchases away from my PS5 too, playing through P3R on my Steam Deck and absolutely love the portability factor that comes with the Steam Deck.
P3R is so good on Deck, I can’t believe how well it runs. Got it on high settings with reflections off, at 40 fps, and it manages to last like 8 hours or something insane like that.
I’ve got the same experience tho, once I got my Deck I just haven’t touched my Switch. I mostly used it to play third party games on the go, but now the Deck does that and just does it better.
Ohhh my goooooossssshhhhhh 7 years now THAT one hit hard
I love my GPD Win 4. I specifically bought it with max settings to have a triple AAA, WoW, emulation machine in my bag. The form factor is small for games with a lot of written text, but I bought a dock and have recreated the Switch experience with a system that runs Windows. It is phenomenal for Fall Guys and other casual games.
I’m pumped for ttyd that and helldivers should keep me feed till next year
This and the Steam Deck convinced me that portability is the real future of gaming. I have a PS5 and Series X and barely touch them anymore because I don't want to be tied to a TV.
Every talking head keeps declaring the demise of the Switch and it keeps soldiering on. My son and I are corrently enjoying Mario vs. Donkey Kong and I don’t see the end of the Switch anytime soon.
been sharing a switch with my partner; i a m excited to pick up a switch lite on the cheap and getting a more comfortable shell onto it for my hands :D
I just got an oled switch used today, I’ve never had a Nintendo console and I’d love to play splatoon with my friends. I hope I don’t regret buying it with the switch 2 being so close. 😅
I got big into collecting physical Switch games (around 250). I like the idea of have the entire game on a cartridge that I can play it directly from.
Now that I have my Steam Deck and there aren't as many games I find worthwhile to collect physically, I basically never use my Switch.
The only things I want from a Switch 2 are backwards physical compatibility, better thumbsticks/ergonomics, and the ability to boost the performance of games for the original Switch. I want to be able to play BotW or TotK at 60 fps, and don't even really care if there's a resolution bump.
something funny I noticed about my switch is that 2-3 years in I stopped using it altogether.
My 3DS on the other hand is getting more use than ever before.
