This is so inspiring and encouraging. You radiate a lovely light of positivity! The footage of you watering your garden made me so happy, I want to start a garden too. And omg bunnies!!!
Would love to have a private practice one day, you're so inspiring! You can work but also have a sense of free time, self-care, it is so so important!!
Hi Deyanira, I enjoy watching these videos and I actually want to become a therapist as well. I've been doing some research and your videos have been so helpful! As a Latina who has always sought after a Latina therapist, I would love to be that for someone as well. Thank you for sharing your journey!
Question: I am currently applying to grad school for clinical mental health counseling, and I speak Spanish. Do you have to get a bilingual certificate to be able to counsel people who speak Spanish?
@@jb0958 That’s great! No you don’t. There are some agencies that require you to take a Spanish test during your hiring process and interview but it’s not very common.
It definitely depends per state because they require different things. Most important thing is knowing what you want to do with your degree post-grad and pick the program that offers you the best path. If the rules hadn’t changed in Texas for lpc-a’s to have their private practice and I knew what I know now I would’ve gone the social work route instead. I’m glad it worked out though because I loved my program. All of these fields offer career opportunities but definitely go with the one that gives you the opportunities you want. 😊 You can look at it more in-depth on O*NET online and see the breakdown for each career field to get an idea.
Hi! I have been watching your videos for over a year now, and i am half way thru my program,! I just wanted to ask if the feeling of incompetency go away? I feel like im always so in my head during my prac and intern sessions with clients, and i tend to beat myself up for saying something that isnt perfect 🙃
Hi! I wish we didn’t feel this way but we all truly go through this because we want to do a good job. So you’re not alone in that no matter how confident others may seem 🫶🏼 For me it did gradually get better because my supervisor was really supportive and told me that this feeling just meant that I was trying to do the best for my clients and I had to chill and not be so hard on myself lol. First year is like that because we’re also trying to create our style and approaches. Try to remind yourself that your job isn’t to have all the answers or always say the right thing but to be there with your client and get to know them so sometimes it’s more listening and reflecting back to them or I say in session things like, “did you want feedback or did you just want me to listen, either is ok”, “I’m really proud of you because I can see that…”, “Would you like me to send you information on that topic so you can learn more about it”. You’re practicing and learning, and side note: congratulations on being one step closer to graduating 🤎
@@Keep_On_Growing thank you so much for your response. This helped me relax a lot! I’m getting new clients soon for internship and I will take your advice with me. TYSM!
I love your videos, I am starting my Private Practice (month 2 now). Your videos are very inspiring and motivating! You also have such a warm presence. How happy you look coming out of session every time tho! lol I always look forward to watching your videos! thank you for the content.
Thank you so much! Congratulations!!!!!🎉🎉🎉 I’m so happy for you I feel like those first couple month are a whirlwind of creating and learning. Sometimes I come out crying or frustrated in wanting to do more for my clients but I also get excited seeing them learn something new or make progress in different ways. Some sessions are tough when they’re going through hard times but I’m glad they have us with them through those times too.🥹
Your videos are so inspiring to me. I’m a senior in college. I’m interested in becoming a Therapist for preteen to transitioning adult age youth here in Atlanta.

Would you say there is better career Opportunities in doing your masters in IO psych , or MFT ?
