  • Magic Kettle effect from his classic TV show,also known as Any Drink called for or Think a Drink,not sure of origin but I think it is David Devant.

    Brilliant. He’s lucky no Indian was in the audience. They would have said sattu ka ghol and it would have been a disaster. Unless it did and then we would truly know the power of the kettle. Great work and brilliant show ❤️❤️❤️

    My thought was that the kettle had a coil running around the inside of it with different compartments of liquid and depending on the angle he tipped it that would dictate what gets poured out. I'm pretty certain that it's actually a magic kettle though.

    I remember watching this when it was on TV in the 1970s or early '80s.😁

    I really miss this kind of stuff. The BBC should’ve kept the show going. Probably too expensive compared to cheap reality/quiz/we’ve got talentless minor celebrity volunteer shows. “He wants us to buy him a KETTLE!? Tell him we can’t afford expensive props!! Spend the licence payer’s fee on something more important like giving us producers a larger proportion of the cash instead!!”.

    0:32 - Notice how when someone shouts out "Ouzo", Paul somehow can't make that drink come out of the kettle, because he never thought of it. Well done the audience member for that little curve ball thrown at Paul.

      I was really amazed when i heard Ouzo because it's a greek drink.I am from Greece and i know that it's a little rare for foreign people to know this drink.

      He could do it, if he knew. Could. But there is no point in doing so till all drinks called for... the routine needs to be fast paced. Every drink can indeed be produced. No limit as far as the trick goes

      @@Zheugma There is a limit - you do realise there is real liquid coming out of the kettle?

    • @Zheugma
      @Zheugma 8 місяців тому

      @@johnking5174 sure. And you understand that as long that is liquid in there, there is no limit in producing whatever drink. Well, listen, i have performed this trick before. Paul was a friend of mine, the person who built that kettle is a friend of mine and i have pictures of these apparatus (i side and outside). Trust me. No one spent more time than me most probably (i still do) researching and studying this particular trick. I discussed with many old timers who I happen to be friends with. I hope you understand that I am not allowed to discuss more on this. We, in our circle, operate in specific ways. I hope you understand and enjoy paul at work, he was a terrific performer. Miss discussing magic with him

      Remember it's not a puzzle it's an illusion. I've been a magician a long time and I actually like it when someone does something I can't pick cos I get to go back and see what it's like to be an audience member

      @@alexasachs939 there are powdered things for the drinks. so basically the pot has water inside but the cups have, for example, lemonade powder.

      You're all wrong, the kettle it's self has compartments and a switch switches to the next drink. He let them yell it out and once he heard the next drink in line he picked that one. It's why it seems like so little is left in the kettle each time he pours. Because each capartments holds enough for one drink

    OK so this is how it works - two kettles - one just full of water - one rigged with different drinks the people taste. 1st part - water onto dry colourant powder. don't drink. slight of hand swap kettles to rigged one - once empty don't open this otherwise you will see the rigged inside. go back behind counter swap kettles to a normal one full of water again - do last part of act - pour water into beer glasses - show inside!

      Does that make you feel special or something to give away tricks even though you're completely wrong
