Excellent job again HistoryMarche. This is one of the best series of history made. No one has gone to this depth of information with accompanying graphics. As a history buff I never knew Hannibal's campaign in Italy was so long or how it ends, All I need to know is where the hell are those Macedonian reinforcements!
Hannibal didn't have control over the 'heel of italy', that's the region where Tarentum is located. Which is why he needed reinforcements. With 10,000 - 20,000 he'd be able to control that region, secure a supply line with his new ally in the Kingdom of Macedonia, and be able to implement whatever his 'winning strategy' was. Probably a direct attack on Rome. But due to Hanno II political clout, and the ammunition provided by Hasdrubal's loss at the battle of Hibera, he was denied the reinforcements to make the security of Macedonian supplies reliable.

@Danny Tallmage both fought an empire. Hannibal was better than alexander, because he fought far better enemies and commanders than the persians, and darius ever will, whose main strategy is to flee the battlefield. Plus, Caesar far outclassed Hannibal, because he managed to defeat Rome itself in the civil war. Alexander is nothing without parmenion. It was parmenion who manages Alexander's supply lines, it was parmenion who holds the phalanx for alexander to deliver the hammer of his companion cavalry, it is parmenion who keeps alexander in a leash to not recklessly charge into battle without a proper plan that always cost them precious macedonian lives that they can't easily replace in the front lines, and "alexander the great *Ingrate* " killed him for his outstanding contributions to his campaign. What a great general. He never lost a battle that he didn't have a direct command in the first place. Without Philip II's veteran officers, alexander is nothing.
@@velstadtvonausterlitz2338 completey disagree. Alexander is nothing without parmineon? Ha! Alexander constantly ignored what he and his other diadochi said, gaugamela is a great example, proving the tactical and strategic brilliance was his own. Hannibal's italian campaign and victory at Cannae far far far outclasses anything caesar did. caesars men were far better than anything he went up against, by the time caesar fought other romans his own men were hard-core veterans after the campaign in Gaul, often his army far outmatched his opponents. caesar was also a piece of shit, who committed what most historians agree is a genocide in Gaul for his own personal gain and glory as he was in debt, that's why the true romans wanted him to abandon his army have him be tried as the criminal he is.

Hannibal was truly the greatest of all time. Against all odds. It makes me so sad his own senate would not support him... It makes no sense. Perhaps Rome had something to do with this. Promising them to be filthy rich and bribing them to try cut Hannibal off. The fact he's doing this without the support of Carthage makes it that more of a truly epic ancient tale however.

Even if Polybios must me handled with care because he was pro roman there are enough hard datas known to figure out what happened. What I am missing - and this is not a critic only a suggestion - is one part which describes the political and social difference between this 2 societies. Rome leave the Hellenistic concept of society far behind and was very modern for its time with assets on his hands to survive such a battle of attrition far better than Carthage. The 2 fractions inside the political system of Carthage ar mentioned briefly but it would be worth to introduce the viewers to the political and social differences of Rome and Carthage. Without Hannibal Carthage would have had not the slightest chance to win this war. The genius of Hannibal and with all ressources of Carthage at his hand there would have been a chance to win ... probably or a least a good chance. I hope you will continue this serie ... GOOD LUCK

You guys really need to finish this series, it's one of the best on the channel.
Glorious, i was waiting for this series to continue

Glad you enjoy it! Awesome to see you here KHK
Amazing work guys, I love these can’t wait for episode 19? Really keen to see how this ends, has had me on the edge of my seat and I’ve been learning a lot with it aswell. Just wanna say a massive thank you. It’s really fun and intresting.
Love this series....would be great to see a netflix series based off HistoryMarche of Hannibal
Yess thank you
I finished this series in only 2 days and I love it. I hope you will continue the history. This channel is gold! Thank you.
Amazing work. I sniffled two or three times when I reached this episode and realized the series wasn't finished yet. My hats to you. Do you still plan to finish this series? I'll give you all the thumbs and commentary support I can. You're a creator of real content, not merely superficial modern time-sink fluffery.
The Hannibal videos are the best you produce. I would love to see you finish them!
That's the plan!
@@HistoryMarchelet’s go 🎉
Press 👍 if you're like me waiting for another great episode of Hannibal.
Weird that they could not foresee that a defeat of Hannibal would mean the end of their city including them.

I don't know why but I always love that trumpet sound in your videos. I try to listen out for it whenever I'm watching. Kinda like a Wilheim scream. 🤣
Another Hannibal Video ,My Favourite series, Thank you so Much !!!
More to come!
@@HistoryMarche when is the next Hannibal video gonna get released!? I’m so keen for it hahaha
@@HistoryMarche we are still waiting since 7 months ago
Man this is a suffering ! You're the best by far to describe this amazing period of history and my favorite general of all time ! I beg you to finish this before we all pass away hahaha ! Otherwise we'll have miss a little bit of heaven on earth !
Its depressing watching Hannibal lose so slowly
It's also depressing watching romans lose hundred thousands of manpower because most of the generals were like: pfft, the general before me was amateur! I would never walk into a trap! *walks into a trap*
i was just too good.. 😁
Vorro lost is stomach and fleed maby as lest preveinting complete incirclement and maby and helping with a Tatical retreat making where maby the bulk of of romwn army to hold on wven longer they lost due to being ti tire to fight but Hannibal cav was still thier so thiers that to consider to also if vorro was willing to fight
@@quintusfabiusmaximus8700 you were too idiot to fight Hannibal.
Thank you very much Historymarche, I have seen the second punic war many times from you and not once i did bored from it, Thank you to show us this important stage of History
It was almost infuriating to watch this episode lol, Carthage didnt deserved Hannibal
The first time I watched this I almost cried. Carthage indeed didn’t deserve Hannibal.
rome deserved Hannibal, they would give EVERYTHING to this guys
@@afonsoferreira2652 If Hannibal was a Roman Africa would have been named after him.
@@lapizlazuli9304 absolutely. Amazing général I had NOOO idea he was sooo good and cleaver.
Yes but what happened to hano || after this. I hope he died in horrific conditions.
The more I watch this series, the more I'm awestruck by the genius of both Fabius and Hannibal.
The Strategist vs The Tactician. The Wolf vs The Fox. Two very different but equally competent commanders. I'm sure they both had massive mutual respect for one another.
Who is the wolf and who is the fox? Fabius = Fox and Hannibal = Wolf?
That's the best series ever made on the second Punic war, please continue!! :(
Wish these were longer.. hate having to wait a month for the next.. I do appreciate the work you guys put into these regardless. I'm just rather anxious to see more 😁
I have really been looking forward to the continuation of this series of yours on the Second Punic War. You do a fantastic job.
Thanks.
Please continue this series!
Man, this series is some of the best content I've watched in a long time.... simply masterful storytelling. The level of detail is so satisfying for us history nerds!
God, I feel like this series has been going on for years to the point I'm always like "is this a new one, have I seen this one yet?" I bet I've watched each episode 2 or 3 times as a result haha. I'm addicted. The quality is so good. I wish there would be more random facts at the end though ;) My favorite tidbit. I've never heard of building a siege tower defensively and a tower vs tower battle haha
These second Punic war series are awesome, big congrats and please, go ahead with it!
Hannibal was truly the greatest of all time. Against all odds. It makes me so sad his own senate would not support him... It makes no sense.
Perhaps Rome had something to do with this. Promising them to be filthy rich and bribing them to try cut Hannibal off.
The fact he's doing this without the support of Carthage makes it that more of a truly epic ancient tale however.
they were losing in Iberia while he was winning in Italy. It really makes sense sending troops to spain if you think about it. Iberia's silver was funding hannibal's war. No Iberia = No war.
@@bigmonkedong But taking mainland Italy and Rome would no doubt end the war, and with those troops sent to Iberia Hannibal would've been able to successfully defeat or at least outmaneuver the Roman Armies
Khalid Ibn al Waleed, who fought over two hundred skirmishes and battles during the early expansion of the Islamic Armies against the Sassanid Persians and the Byzantine Empire without losing a single one has to be considered at least a close rival
@waddle
This is what I wonder about, was there no possibility that his reinforcements would be cut off? Especially if Rome got news of it
Hannibal wasn’t the greatest by his own admission, he and Sicpio at some point met and Sicpio asked him to rank the best generals the history at that time, Hannibal put Alexander the great first and Pyrrhus 2nd, Sicpio asked him who was the third and Hannibal said himself and Sicpio laughed and then asked him if he defeated him where would he put himself, Hannibal said he would have put himself first
found and all the episodes watched in one hit in an afternoon at the workshop....iv learnt so much today.. as said, a master piece !!
Have the Romans learned their lesson? Will Hannibal decisively defeat Rome?
Find out next time on, Hannibal B!
yoo napoleon, big fans..
if i didn't know the end i would have say it's been a while that Rome is Doom, they are reduce to enrole slave and teenager, they losed half of their land, their ally are defecting, their economy is on the limit and Carthage is gaining new ally and enroling a lot more troups
@@gizel4376
I'm gonna spoil the series for you: Macedon later joins the war on Rome
And Carthage wins some victories in Spain
So yeah Rome is pretty much done, Carthage is gonna win at the end of the show
@@totalwartimelapses6359 u forgot the part where 500 Romans under Scipio captures Carthago Nova and destroys the core Carthaginian Army in Spain almost as bad as cannae one but from Carthaginian perspective
The Scipio takes 4 legions to Africa where he allies with one fraction of the numindian kingdom then his 23,000 men finally defeats 45,000 strong Hannibal's troops
Finally the war ends
@@raidang
Come on man we're doing a bit here, you didn't have to ruin it
Yes duh Rome ends up crushing Carthage, I know every detail of this war
Hi folks, I want to congratulate you for this serie about 2nd Punic War so far .... Really a fantastic serie as far as I know this part of the history as a historian. GOOD LUCK
Fantastic video! I can't wait for Part 19! ⚔⚔⚔

Was Hannibal the best general at maneuvering around his enemies to gain an advantage? Personally I feel like he is
Yes he was one of the best Generatrals in history they should teach more about him on school.
@@birdyhans2452 The fact who he was great is probably something who will not help to make the mediocre education system of "insert any country here" teach more about him. that is the sad true.
