Hope you're feeling better! That'd be interesting to ask players if they want to be the best on their team. I'd have to assume most guys would say "no" right?
Westbrook is one of the most selfish players I think I've ever seen and that's because of his lack of ball movement and the clear videos of him stealing rebounds. People can act like those videos don't exist, but they add to the selfish lure of Russell Westbrook
This was a big reason I didn't like Tatum despite rooting for the Celtics last year. His stats are way better than his actual skill on the court because he does crap like this all the time. He's a good when it doesn't matter, mediocre when it does kind of guy. Terrible in the 4th quarter but amazing in the first half against the Hornets and Bulls.
@@jammer9941it isn’t detrimental for his team because he does produce results, it’s just detrimental to his own legacy. The Tatum jokes even now after winning a championship points to that.
@@Sage_Hashish The Tatum jokes are there because people don't like the celtics. Tatum doesn't really do anything worth hating, people just wanna shit on him and him being corny is the butt of the joke. All of it won't matter in the end when he finally retires.
@@hawken796 Tatum is not a bad player by any means, but I've watched every Celtics game the last 3 years and he will never be a legit top 5 player. He is the PF equivalent of Devin Booker; if Tatum got drafted by the Suns, his career would be the same in terms of success as Booker's; he has benefited more from a good team than anyone in the modern era. Tatum has superstar pedigree but doesn't have any elite skills besides rebounding. He gets outshined by every single opposing star and more often than not, by Jaylen Brown. Tatum is underwhelming as a superstar and easily has the worst offensive game of any All-NBA #1 option. The argument is never that he sucks, but that he's not as good as he should be. He won the finals but nobody thinks he belongs anywhere near "best player in the world" conversations and he lost finals NBA to Brown who outshone him all playoffs. His grasp on top 5 slips more every year, as opposed to other players who have made meteoric rises. His offensive peak is just weak compared to his company at the top of the league, while his defense is not All-Defense level like many other All-NBA bigs. He rightly deserves the title of jack of all trades, master of none "superstar."

A lot of your video titles has a question in it. I don't recall you answering ANY of these question. Just examples of whatever is in the title. That's funny
What happened to all the basketball purists?! I swear casuals and fanboys have taken over the entire sports world to where even the players in the league have lost all sense of sportsmanship.
You actually don't want the point guard to get the rebound to start the offense. This was never taught at any level of basketball before or after Russ' Most Valuable Padder award. You want one of your slow bigs who is going to be late getting down court anyway to stay and get the rebounds while your guards leak out so the big can pass it to them to start the offense. The ball travels through the air faster than the PG dribbling it down court.
He's a great rebounder but a piss poor defender and what he added in individual value to his rebounds, he lost in defensive effort and ability, and overall team defense.
I think I searched “what is VORP” (years ago) and your video came up, pretty sure it’s the first vid of yours I ever watched. Been ridin with the homie ever since 🫡. Only 12 guys in the league averaged a double double last season, so while yeah it is a bit of an arbitrary number, it does recognize when a player gets a noteworthy amount of stats. Yeah Russ went too far with stat chasing sometimes, made it a little too obvious. That Giannis one was pretty bad too. And maaannn that Ricky Davis example was kinda shameful, 🤦♂️ seriously dude?? Shoutout Mario party. I agree with the Embiid/Klay examples, if it happens naturally over the course of the game then by all means. When Kobe got his 81 the Lakers NEEDED their top scorer to take over to win that game. Klay 82 or torn meniscus equally probable 😆. All in all I think your conclusion is right, stat padding is not the best for the overall well being of what is supposed to be a team oriented game, but it is undeniable that individual numbers play a considerable factor in AT LEAST negotiating contracts (which is obviously quite important for these guys) not to mention contributing how any of them are perceived in this statistics obsessed time that we’re in, to effect their legacy or otherwise. Great vid again bro, appreciate your grind. Hookin us up with that quality NBA fun entertainment.

“Stat padding” is yet another new term for something that has been around for ages. This sounds like nonsense to me cause getting a triple double is a good thing for the team and should help ur team win, unless everyone else on the team are $hit or play like $hit🤦♂️ so a guy that gets stats naturally like lebron is a bad thing and is “padding stats”? 🤦♂️Make this make sense

that'd be pretty good. I did one on paths to the NBA comparing NCAA to the Euro professional ball, but didn't quite cover it.
“But you cannot defend this”
Gets a 10 sec ad
builds the suspense!
I don’t know if you’ve done this already, but it would be cool to get your perspective on Stephen A. Smith, and how he’s influenced sports media for the worst (projecting the last part but I bet I’m not far off that you share that perspective)
that would be interesting. subject matter would be a bit of a departure, but I'd really enjoy doing that research. I feel like sports media was trending that way, then first take just leaned as far as possible into it.
I like stat padding that is funny (that giannis oreb at the end of the game) over stat watching especially the turnover one at the end of the shot clock, get the ball and chuck it for fun
I do too. I would get easy buckets at the end of blow outs. up my ppg
Aha, Ricky Davis. We'll never forget you bro.
dude, have you seen him try a between the legs dunk and fail?
Your sound effects remind me of bill wurtz. Really good style and I’m sure it takes a lot of effort. 👍🙏🙏
thanks man! just looked at bill wurtz stuff. It doesn't take as much work as it would seem. I developed the process the workflow is pretty smooth.
0:50 a double double is when you get 10 or more in 2 indivdual stats. Here i think you say "10 or more in an individual stat"
Yeah, I knew I said it weird. figure y'all already knew anyway what it was.
If a player gets 10 boards or averages 10 but is less than 2,5 in offensive It means he's Just getting uncontested defensive boards. There are metrics for contested but If a player gets 10 boards and none are offensive it's Just uncontested rebounds
offensive rebounds are the real rebounds.
Sabonis will average a triple double next year, with Derozan on the team
God I love this guy
I'm excited to watch kings games next year. might try to make it up to a game.
fire as usual
thanx
Jokic pads his vorp
he's in the lab working on his WAR rating.
what do you think of the unwritten rule
I was listening to Channing and RJ talk about this with Georges Niang. I guess it makes sense, sucks for end of the bench guys though
Whaaat? How isn't Andray Blatche mentioned in this?
my bad. I had a time crunch.
Hey, I suggested this!
excellent idea
@@whatslaps funny suggestion. How about a video that details what players do that causes them to get hated?
Love the Mario party insert :)
just for you, baby
I love the Giannis offensive rebound at the end of the game. Its just funny

Been sick af since sunday. Sorry im late. I owe you a corndog.
I think nowadays, since stats are so widely recorded, its just nice to be able to see your performance on paper. Its less of a team sport and more of a "look what i was able to do this game, its on paper" i wouldnt blame em 😂 its a competitive sport. Even if it means you're competing against your own team. You want to be the best on the team, right? They wanna be the ones that people talk about at the end of games 🤷🏾♂️ just dont be a dick about it and win the game.
Hope you're feeling better! That'd be interesting to ask players if they want to be the best on their team. I'd have to assume most guys would say "no" right?
@@whatslaps I guess that depends on if they love the fame more than they love the game 🤷🏾♂️ it's contagious, I'd assume.
let out your hair, the old you!
it was dirty. I was gross.

Westbrook is one of the most selfish players I think I've ever seen and that's because of his lack of ball movement and the clear videos of him stealing rebounds. People can act like those videos don't exist, but they add to the selfish lure of Russell Westbrook
he's playing a different game out there.
Does he Stat pad more than other players and does he do it to the detriment of his team?
@@jammer9941it isn’t detrimental for his team because he does produce results, it’s just detrimental to his own legacy. The Tatum jokes even now after winning a championship points to that.
Dude has the highest impact per player on the celtics (on average)
I don't mind that Tatum turnover one at all. That game was basically over. No need to get him a turnover.
Me too me too
I hate that work sense it literally be plays where Westbrook get 2 offensive rebounds in possession with a assist that not stat padding that heart
yeah, I see your point of view
You get what I am saying Westbrook got heart the ball just not falling in his lap and he drives to the paint a lot that going into o draw a lot of attention and his point he just driving in a pack paint in those okc days where he had to earn is buckets all Russ stats are earned pat stating is what Gianni’s did was stat padding
Angel Reese
I'm stayin out of that one.
I love u goat
love u
Idk if assist are more stingy these days. Dribble dribble dribble drive stop spin dribble shoot. Player is credited with assist. Can see this multiple times per game every single game in the last few years
yeah, depends the stat keeper
A lot of your video titles has a question in it. I don't recall you answering ANY of these question. Just examples of whatever is in the title. That's funny
"How to spot" seems to always get clicks and questions prompt comments. Gotta play the game to win the prizes!
@@whatslaps Indeed. I really like your videos. I just thought it was funny.
I thought a double-double was when you get 10 or more of 2 seperate stats... not a single stat as stated?
I may have mispoke. 10 or more in any 2 columns
@whatslaps because you said it, i wasn't confident lol

thank you for your sacrifice to the algo god
Whatslaps, is that what we should call you? What is your favorite NBA team?
sure! I'm rooting for OKC this year.
@@whatslaps I'm a Knicks fan, born and raised. Nat "Sweetwater" Clifton the first Black man to sign on the dotted line in the NBA.
Stat padding isn’t a problem. Makes the parts of games that are boring somewhat exciting
that's true. I like watching some games to see if Luka is going to go full chamberlain.
What happened to all the basketball purists?! I swear casuals and fanboys have taken over the entire sports world to where even the players in the league have lost all sense of sportsmanship.
Nobody in the nba is stat padding. That's not a thing. Playing smarter because u have a goal isn't stat padding.
that's very interesting point of view. I'll have to think about that.
gorgeous as ever
who me?
what tatum did is valid bc derrick white is 100% kicking the can to tatum
exactly. I guess it would have been a team turnover anyway
Jockic
Jock itch
You actually don't want the point guard to get the rebound to start the offense. This was never taught at any level of basketball before or after Russ' Most Valuable Padder award.
You want one of your slow bigs who is going to be late getting down court anyway to stay and get the rebounds while your guards leak out so the big can pass it to them to start the offense.
The ball travels through the air faster than the PG dribbling it down court.
that's true that's true.

I think he'll get there by the end.
It's only stat padding when Black players do it
someone else insinuated that too. sorry if it sounded that way
Not saying that's how YOU think but that's usually how the topic gets introduced. Especially when discussing triple doubles.
First
you did it!!
Sounds like a certain group of people trying to discredit players they don’t like. Russ has always been a great rebounder.
Russ is a little too good at rebounds if you feel me.
He's a great rebounder but a piss poor defender and what he added in individual value to his rebounds, he lost in defensive effort and ability, and overall team defense.
Let’s be honest yall keep trying to discredit black players
… yeah, like Luka, Stockton and Sabonis.
Sorry if the video offended you, it wasn't my intention. hope you're doing well.
That rules! I think that video is one of the last ones I have set to non-private. everything before that was not good work. Glad I've VORP corndered on SEO. You were the first person to tell me about Ricky Davis btw. I had another video where I covered stat padding and brought that up. Dang 12 guys averaged a triple double! That has to mean something, but I don't what exactly it tells us. Maybe a topic for another video. thanks for the support as always!
🤦♂️Make this make sense
true true
