- The loss of Dr Manning's wedding ring reveals her difficulty in letting go.
Season 1 Episode 17 "Withdrawal"
Dr. Halstead and April butt heads when it comes to treating a patient with severe alcohol withdrawals and a broken leg. Meanwhile, Dr. Manning has a cardiac event when she loses her wedding ring, Dr. Rhodes is forced to perform bloodless surgery because of a patient who is a Jehovah's Witness and won't take a blood transfusion. Reese and Dr. Charles deals with elderly patients with the same symptoms.

@@shhhl4975 I actually liked that scene. That mother in law for afraid her pregnant vulnerable daughter in law would be preyed upon. I don't understand why people can't see her kindness. She did not bother Natalie during the other times. Not to mention it has not even been a year since her husband died. To date someone before that time period is not decent.

My dad almost died in a helicopter accident, luckily the helicopter had flares and that saved Them from getting hit by taliban rockets. I was 6 months old at this time.

I have knee problems, several different conditions and it causes me to collapse sometimes. I once collapsed in the middle of an art class, my teacher hated me and pretended she had no idea screaming and me to get up and ended up giving me a detention for “being disruptive”

The comments are mostly completely ignorant. My sister is a Paramedic who lost her husband in Fallujah and she has been wearing her wedding ring for over ten years now. My sister-in-law is a nurse who lost my brother to a drunk driver and she still wears her wedding ring after almost three years.
Trust me, doctors/paramedics/nurses/etc. KNOW how to stay sanitized, even with wedding rings on. Lose your partner unexpectedly and believe me, you'll want to hold on to their memory for as long as you can. Plus their are no rules against wearing CERTAIN jewelry in the medical field, this includes wedding rings.

I'm a nursing student and our professors told us that we can't wear any kind of jewelry or watch when we're on duty because wearing jewelries or watch can cause a lot of harmful things mostly to the patients. But theres an exception for wedding rings because it is not just a random thing, it has a very special meaning. Thats all

FTS 15 no he’s dead, the person who fainted was the person who lost it, Jeff was her husband. She found it hard to cope as that’s everything to her :’(

This episode is a slap on those people's faces who were saying that "Helen needs to mind her business", "who is she to tell Will to keep away".... Do you see her concern for Natalie? She cares for her heart which is why she disagreed with Natalie's decision to replace her wedding ring(her only memory of her love apart from her son). She cannot see Natalie in pain. So, think before you judge.

This reaction to Manning losing her wedding ring was terrible. They had trash all over the floor in the ED with bags on top of each other and the staff digging into biological waste. Makes me cringe, especially when I remember the sweet lady who died in *Scrubs* because of medical waste contamination. Dr Cox would've torn everyone a new one.
