Hey man… I’m a 21 year Toyota tech… I’ve done 4 of these engines so far. And I have taken out the engine WITH the harness. Toyota actually designs its engines to be removed with main harness. I also do not evacuate the Freon. I leave the compressor in truck. Every second spared adds up. Great work though. Keep it up. 👍🏼.
@@armani2326 hell ya to you, Great stuff, I think I’m 14 years at least, really, I have another one to do after this, And I will try to figure out the compressor trick, That’s how I usually do it, haven’t tryed it on this, But now I know you can hell ya , take care bro thanks ALOT for that comment
@ also once you have the truck in air put a jack stand on the transmission. The drop the cross member. Slowly lower the transmission and then you’ll be able to access the top of transmission to remove the harness that sits on top. Once you get that off you also see the top of tranny bolts to engine. Long extension and makes that cake. Once that’s done. Reinstall the cross member and continue with engine removal. Good luck 👍🏼

Dude, you're a beast! idk how you do it all but God bless. sucks for me being a tacoma owner and potentially having to deal with this b.s. cracked valve issue but hopefully all technicians can get at this major problem & job. bless up! 🙌🏻🙏🏻
@@WaltNasty also makes the top bell housing bolts easier to get to, you just have to have a guy watching the harness so it doesn’t get snagged. Makes life a whole lot easier switching the harness over out of the truck.
@@ScottBacon-sr7mkI just got so used to doing all Toyota trucks this way, my mind just attacks it this way, How are you liking this recall? lol I hope your dealer takes care of you guys doing it, even when we make it look easy, It’s Not.
I’m good with flat rate. Especially with the warranty time bull shat. I’m a mechanic of 22 years now. Always at an independent. Work on everything but a lot of euros. 5 weeks paid vacation, 40 hours sick time and time & half after 40hrs. Back in 2019 i went for an interview at Toyota. They said after receiving master Toyota tech. Maxed out at $34-36 can’t remember. That’s a joke. I spoke to their shop foreman with the service manager and got the job that day. That’s when I asked about the pay. Told them I’m all set.
I was going to buy a new Tundra in 2023 and went with a 2023 Tacoma instead because of price but still would like to get a new Tundra, do you think Toyota is being honest about shavings left in the block? or could it be something else?
I’ve heard there were part number changes, but yes the main issue is incorrect manufacturing. This was during the pandemic and questionable hiring practices. I’d wait a couple years before buying any new car. There are still a few Tundras with failing engines but well within a normal rate of failure.
The only other one we’re the 2AZ-FE piston rings they paid 16 hrs to install new piston rings, So you see why Toyota only paying 13 for a swap, I Never seen Toyota do a full replacement motor like the Tundra,
But to answer your question, even if I lose on every tundra I do, I’ve Master the art of flat rate To were it don’t feel real anymore, of course you will have bad days, That’s just a bad day or days, The end of the year Always a homerun,
@ Knock wood, my 19 Tacoma at 116,000 miles has been rock solid so far. Of course what is in your shop is a minuscule percentage of the Toyota’s out there.
If thats all warranty i truly feel bad for you. Tundra engine replacement recall is only 13 hrs. Dont work there lol, youre letting them take advantage of you bro.

have you done any 24's?
Sounds like that dealership needs to hire more engine guys. How much time does it take you to pull out the Tundra motor?
I think I got it down to about 5-6 hrs out still haven’t master the routine , I’ll get there

Do you work at a dealership? Lmk
I do
