Only thing im not happy with so far is the graphics, i know Pokémon has never had the best graphics, but i still wish it could have some Incredible looking graphics. Everything else seems promising.
Better textures, more detailed environments and better colouring. But since the game is coming out in less than 5 months, we probably won't be seeing any of those. :(
Yeah, also I think they’ve been working on multiple projects at the same time with Let’s GO and Little Town hero. That screwed up SwSh’s development. I wish they got more people if wanting to do more projects instead of having 159 or 200 people. I believe they could be working on Gen 9 right now sense Legends is done
Sword and shield was supposedly supposed to go on the 3ds and then halfway through development they switched it over to the switch. So that could be the rushed problem. SwSh def could’ve been better but hopefully now that we’re not on the first game on a new system they’ll start doing better.
@@sheff4719 My guess? Funding from TPC. If you look at the majority of the money that comes from Pokemon as a franchise, the vast majority of that money is made from merchandise and Pokemon GO, not the main series games. It would sort of make sense that the developers don't see as much of that money as marketers or manufacturers. That said, the success of the other revenues earners is directly tied to the steady release of the games. Can't continue to sell plushies or market movies and the anime if there isn't a steady stream of new pokemon, characters, and regions to pull from. This coupled with the strict deadlines and the rush to port an originally 3DS game to Switch is imo the main factors as to why Gen VIII were received pretty poorly, and also explains why the stories of the games have been very stale since Gen V (which coincidentally coincides with the switch to 3D, which GF has had a very hard time programming with as opposed to sprites that they'd had decades to perfect before).
@@skullerclawerbandicoot7966 the change from the first Arceus trailer and the second is incredible, and that was only about 6 months. Sword Shield didn’t change anything in the year or so from when it was announced to it’s release. Especially considering Sword Shield was less innovative than Arceus. It’s not that they didn’t have time, it’s poor planning and motivation as they knew it would sell like crazy regardless of quality.
@@JoshusBarber False, its because they had a much better development for Legends. The thing I dont understand is how do u guys not know ANYTHING on how game development works. SwSh's development was awful due to them making 2 games at the same time (Ultra & Lets Go) The team was split to make another game It was originally a 3ds game due to TPC thinking the Switch wouldn't succeed They didnt get the right resources since it was their 1st ever console game And they only had 1 year to fix things up, So obviously the game suffered horribly from bad development. Legends development is infinitely better hince the game will be very good. Maybe do some research on how game development work and then u could understand things better, thats all I can tell u
Not really; you forget that Pokemon until recently was a hand held game. Think about that. It only recently went on the consoles. Hell, until just 2 generations ago, Pokemon was still Pixel art....
@@TheDeathmail true, but think of the first Switch games from other franchises. They didn’t have any experience either and still made incredible looking games. Even then, switching consoles doesn’t explain why the plot got worse.
4:00 Ahh, yes. Now instead of having your Pokémon stare blankly into the void during battle, they stare blankly into the elementally infused piledrivers currently approaching their cranium at terminal velocity. Joking aside, while it is a definite improvement, it looks slightly comical with how casual some Pokémon seem about the whole thing.
lmao yes, the pokemon should anticipate the attack- Yes, its going to get hit, but something as simple as raising its arms, kneeling slightly, closing eyes and lowering its head, or something like it should suffice
I don't know about you but I already know the consequences... M takes the place of a pokemon that normally would be yours, and when you order it to use a move it crashes.... If you are lucky... Since Trainers can be harmed by Pokémon now, it'd be cool to see Gardevoir's Pokédex entry come to life. I will not celebrate pre-release. If they deliver, I will praise them to no end. If they don't, I will clown them through tears. I sincerely hope they get the W though. 😔🙏🏾
I will remain cautious instead of being blinded by hype. Gamefreak disappointed me a little too often. I don't know what, but something can be in the game that could completely ruin the experience or value.
I feel like this confirms my suspicions that they are forced to rush out these games. They get a 1-2 month extension (BDSP by another company took the november window.) and they already are improving so much. You can def tell this was made *after* the first trailer and we are essentially viewing a devlog but it is nice to see that they can truly make high-quality stuff with just that small amount of time
Of course they are... Pokemon is _the_ top selling franchise in the world. I'm not even making that up. They have a standard to uphold to keep it that way, and that standard is "Let's put out new enough features to keep kids entertained why making more money."
@@nikk-named I agree, but corporations say other wise, sadly. And a few hundred of us not buying it to show them up isn't enough to boycot them into making 'better' ones.
I'm glad Gamefreak is listening to criticism and is trying to do their best, but the problem is the time constraints from The Pokemon Company. The trailer of Legends Arceus shows a lot of promise, but I do think it needs a lot more polish. I would really like to see some improved textures and colouring. But I don't think it will happen since Gamefreak barely has any time left. The fact that it is coming as early as January 2022 kind of concerns me. I am concerned that Gamefreak might need to cut down some features they originally intended to add, to meet the deadline. If given an environment where Gamefreak didn't have to meet a deadline, I really think we would have gotten something far more impressive.
sword and shield dlc is a great example of this, the base game of swsh is not a complete game, clearly was unfinished with no endgame content, but the dlc covered the monetary and timing constraints that the pokemon company placed on gamefreak giving them extra time and money to develop. I think at least 3 years is required to make a truly good pokemon game, hell botw took 6 years to develop, and assuming arceus is attempting to imitate that style one year is simply not even close to enough
If Gamefreak’s recent efforts are “trying their best” I’d hate to see what garbage they would pump out for something *they* considered a quick cash-grab.
As much as I want all the Pokémon in the game, this Legends game feels like I would much rather have a smaller Pokédex for a nicely polished game. The Pokémon feel alive.
Yeah true. I don’t wanna think about the strain it will take to animate all those Pokémon in the near future. I’d rather they make cuts so they can more easily polish things
Well, my pity for Game Freak is fairly weak when they develop the highest grossing franchise of all-time. Yet, they're a slouch for production quality.
Legends might unironically end up being the best Pokemon game imo, I'm so excited. Imagine if they could apply these improvements into future mainline games too
Pretty sure gen 9 will likely adapt to PLA’s engine. And hopefully it will improve and look a ton better than PLA and if gen 9 region is based on China, i can finally die from happiness!
Just as you say in the video: the fact that these tiny, almost-insignificant details fill us with hype goes to show how badly Pokemon has been doing. The fact that they are doing now what other franchises achieved YEARS ago, its both awesome and depressive.
True. Monster hunter stories 2 graphics is still superior . Pokemon needs to innovate or else the other franchise will beat them . The only reason their game is still selling is because of the loyal fans and people who grew with the pokemon franchise.
@@hiddenfeather9564 I strongly believe Pokemon NEEDS some strong competition. They have been too content with selling just brand names, and its time someone forced them to step it up.
It should be noted that often times, while other franchise have jumps, they also take more time per game. Gamefreak doesn't because the vast majority of their fans want MORE new Pokemon and MORE new games. As such, instead of having large jumps per game, they do more games with smaller jumps. And while they aren't as polished as other developers, you need to remember that Pokemon only went 3d 2 generations ago and barely got into the home console market just recently. Gen 8 is literally their first actual generation on a home console.
@@hiddenfeather9564 It's not just nostalgia. It's the fact that, for most of us, the graphics and game style were never the biggest selling point. For us, a Pokemon game released faster and running well is more important than a game that's released slower and with more polish. And for us, it benefits. Instead of waiting just 5 years for a game on the level of Legends, we waited 5 years and got SwSh AND Legends. So 2 games in the same amount of time we would have gotten one. To me, it feels like a win win. Fans that want higher level games and claim that they can wait can wait. Fans that don't want to wait don't have to, and Gamefreak gets more money and data and can experiment with new features.
I'd love to see lower evolutions of Pokemon following their higher evolution parents, such as a pair of gible following a garchomp in a group. Maybe some pidgeys would flock together until you get close, and then they would all take off at once. Or maybe some torchics could be seeing pecking each other until one gives up and stops fighting, as if they have a pecking order.
Besides the pecking order pun being the cutest shit I've ever read, if they actually go for that, I'd be hella down. Now Lucas and Dawn's ancestors will be traumatized by a land shark just as they have
This is perfect, it HAS to be real! It's little features like this that make a big difference and will be memorable and, even if we don't notice it, will make the experience of playing the game more enjoyable.
5:18 and not to mention that larger pokemon would often appear right in front of you while your riding on the bike, which actually scared me a few times because of the poor draw distance. and that was also my first time i lost a battle too because a over leveled steelix appeared right in front of me and i ended up getting into a battle with it
I don't know if we will going to see 1st gen starters in Legends Arceus to GF even bother to do this... Who am I kidding, of course there will be 1st gen starters, those pokemons were present in every single game so far.
The one thing I'm REALLY scared of, is if this game sells just as much or less than previous Pokemon games, this will disincentivize Gamefreak from putting in the effort to innovate their games. I hope this game sells BIG, FAR bigger than any Pokemon game prior, that will greatly incentivize Gamefreak to make more innovative games and even convince the Pokemon Company to allow Gamefreak to do as they please. So Cross our fingers boys and hope this game will greatly exceed sales expectations.
You're afraid of this game only selling 18 million units????? I don't think you realize that most games aren't even hitting the 10 million unit mark. Hell, it's a HUGE deal if a game even hits a 1 million unit mark. Gamefreak has had HIGH support throughout all of their bs. They don't deserve more money for actually putting effort into their games, the effort being shown now is the MINIMUM amount of effort they should have been giving all this time.
@@TheMissingLink2 What's important is perspective. And not the sensible perspectives that you and I might have about those numbers, but the perspective of a detached corporate office gluttonously gnawing at the doorway to constant unrestrained growth. If something they sunk more money into sold "only" 10 million units, when they can spend considerably less money and effort to get 18 million units, they'll take the path of least resistance every single time. There may be artists in the director's seat, but the overlords who decide their paycheck couldn't give two shits about the integrity of this "pokerman" thing the kids like. They just want more money. That's the fear; that if this doesn't align with the growth that they might expect from the investment, that the cowards craving corporate cash will just go back to what they know works comfortably.
Wind Waker and BoTW are beautfiul games. The problem with Gamefreak is that they don't stylize their graphics. I wouldn't mind if the entire world commited to this canvas painting asthetic. Plus, stylized lower quality graphics allow for greater render distance.
I'm glad to see that they are finally meeting basic standards like Pokemon physically touching each other and Pokemon turning, although I still think it's sad that, as you said, stuff that gets us excited like this highlights how far the quality has fallen!
I'm just impressed that between the two trailers (even for BDSP) they made noticeable changes. I can't think of that ever happening for any other game they've done. Makes me hopeful.
Actually, that happens. In Sw&Sh case, the first trailer reveals extremely bad models of the three starters. And it got so much better in the following trailers.
Even though the game will most likely have a smaller Pokédex, this is very exciting to see. However I’m afraid of the game appearing too rushed due to the company’s horribly strict deadlines. It wouldn’t surprise me if SwSh was a rushed throwaway game to keep them happy while they develop Arceus. Just to be safe I think I’m going to buy the game a couple days after it releases to hear some of the feedback it gets.
"Pokemon can turn now" *Angelic Choir* Hallelujah we can FINALLY see them 'turn' instead of just spin around 360 no scope xbox gamer tag... in an instant
I’m glad I can feel hype for this game again. The lore, art style, even certain Pokémon they chose to highlight here, is so cool to me. This was a game that needed to be done justice and it looks like it has done just that. :)
Arceus still looks really really really rough. I think a lot of it has to do with the color palette and the poor lighting. If they’d make the game have a cohesive color palette and ramp up the lighting effects, it would instantly look a lot more polished without them having to change anything gameplay wise. Maybe they’ll do something about it because they’ve still got a good bit of time, although this is Gamefreak and they typically don’t make big changes after they show footage. BDSP had huge improvements though. I’m legit excited for the remakes now. The jump in quality from the first trailer to the second was massive. It looks like Ilca saw the same issues we did and addressed them.
This is true, the game's environments seem oddly… shiny, and washed out at the same time. The game has very low saturation in its colors, which contrasts horribly with the very colorful and cartoony Pokémon. It's something you'd expect from a more realistic game. Breath of the Wild has low contrast when it's dark (or in general tbh) but it can look vibrant in sunlight conditions. Actually bringing up BotW makes me think that the entirety of this game looks like recolored Malice from BotW. It has the same gross, muddy shiny vibe. I highly doubt gamefreak recorded all this footage in rainy conditions because I can't think of other reason why dirt and rocks would be that shiny. And lastly I'm in love with Genshin Impact and I think it pulled of BotW artstyle (half cartoony-half realistic anime open world) better than BotW itself by getting rid of the weird low contrast, but in foggy scenarios (looking out in the distance, or the snow mountain in general) it looks pretty disappointing because you can't really appreciate the world. Also my computer is trash so the game switches to low LOD models pretty near. I'm just wondering why Gamefreak doesn't get help from Monolithsoft. Xenoblade Chronicles is a Wii game and still looks better than this, Monolith has a really damn solid grasp on open world or just large environments in general that I'm puzzled why Nintendo doesn't meddle more with The Pokémon Company/Gamefreak Either way, while the game still looks like shit overall, I'm glad they got rid of glaringly obvious and ridiculous flaws like the "high quality turning animations" and started putting attention into tiny details, and also tried to go with the franchise in a new direction, since the Switch seems to be the Nintendo console where every franchise is reinventing itself with absolute bangers of games (Zelda, Mario, Fire Emblem, Kirby as of late) or otherwise taking a massive leap in quality (Smash, Metroid). The artstyle is incredibly unappealing to me but I'm glad they're at least putting some effort despite Swosh being a hot mess and selling like hotcakes, thus proving gamefreak that they don't really need to put in effort for people to buy product then get excited for next product
Rough?????? in what damn world??? most recent trailer shots look incredible man. This is the nintendo switch were tslking about. even pokemon unite has performance issues on switch.
@@nicocchi are we looking at the same footage? even in this video theres only 1 distinct area that has very muted colors. But theres also one that has very vibrant colors, and one thats a vibrant orange
Seeing the player character getting knocked around by their own or an opposing Pokémon's attack, despite not even being hit by it, makes me excited for some reason. Like it shows how these aren't just friendly magical animals, but they can be vicious and unleash devestating power.
@@cthulhutentacles4994 The games just rarely show that side of Pokémon, if at all. There's this scene in which Guzma's Pokémon breaks a kid's arm during a battle in the manga, and Akari / Rei getting knocked around just by standing too close to their Pokémon kinda reminds me of that. Apart from showing the dangers of the Pokémon world, I'm also just happy about the attention to detail.
7:56 Something that I also noticed, as you explained this point, is that the screen's border gets darker the closer you get to passing out. Kinda sad we can't see our own HP, but hey, I'm just really glad when the Adult NPCs say that catching and training pokemon is dangerous, there's actual weight in that here.
I love your persistence through all the bullsh*t that came with it. You brought to life what we all have been thinking for years. Gamefreak needed to step their game up and they finally did, bringing us into a new era of Pokémon

Anyone that says fan complaints won't matter is just ignorant at this point. Within the last year fans already made Sony extend how long the PS3/Vita store stay open. And just recently Pokemon Go players convinced Niantic to bring back the extended Pokestop distance permanently to game that the company was very adamant on returning back to normal. Communities can make a difference in their games as long as it is reasonable.
I absolutely love Sword and Shield, don't get me wrong, but Legends: Arceus is looking so much better. Though that's most likely my Breath of the Wild obsession talking.
On the whole anti-criticism note, I'll never understand why so many people go to bat for a corporation that could give less of a shit about them. Glad to see some changes and improvements have been made.
As someone who's been in their position before, it's not that they're trying defending a corporation, it's more like they're somewhat in denial about how the nostalgic idea they have about these games clashes with the actual current quality of them. So people criticizing gamefreak's laziness and wanting them to do better, is in a way, an attack on their nostalgia and their idea about what these games should be; because it's an acknowledgment that Pokemon games today aren't as good as people think. That's why a lot of people are very vocal about the games being fine as they are and the fact that they sometimes attack people who criticize gamefreak. Because they're afraid that their nostalgia might be wrong; a feeling that is all too common for me. I know this sounds kind of irrational on their part, and that's true. But unlike what people like Ben Shapiro would have you believe, sometimes feelings don't care about the facts.
@@lildrawhub1025 Nah, I actually don’t like how SwSh turned out, they are just “fine” games but nothing more. But seeing people calling people calling Game Freak “lazy” is the stupidest thing I’ve heard it makes me wanna puke

Anything even remotely negative, is the same as a personal attack and they will lash out in retaliation. These people have absolutely no grasp on the concept of "criticism". To them it's simply "hate", because people dare to speak badly of their beloved "child". The fact that people could speak badly of those games for good reasons, is inconceivable for them. And Pokemon certainly has a way of making people fall in love with it. The fact that people can have so many emotions for virtual critters... It can so easily go wrong...

While these changes are a step in the right direction and welcome ones, thats the thing about standards. Once you set the bar so low, you can literally give the fanbase changes and implementations that are minor, and so EXPECTED by other game titles, but still widely celebrated by the community. The Stadium games and Colosseum had literally the best animations. It baffles me till this day how they never used what they had already. Each Pokémon in those games had personality like snorlax when he does a mega kick. My man literally jumps up in the air and uses both feet to hit the opponent
Gamefreak didn’t even make those games tho. HAL labs made stadium and colosseum was made by Genius Sorority. They never had that stuff and those games were made on extremely old platforms by the time we got anywhere near that level of integration on handhelds. Animations aren’t just drag and drop, you’d need to rerig and animate all of those animations for every single Pokémon by hand plus make new ones for any Pokémon that was made after those games and even then the fan base would complain that it’s reused N64/GameCube animations 10+ years later. I’m not saying gamefreak isn’t lazy and complacent but this point is nil honestly.
While the game does look good so far, sword/shield burnt me so bad that I'm still waiting to see what people say about it once the game is out and the "honeymoon" for the game is over.

@@jogymogy3691 one thing no one ever talks about in SwSh is how bad shiny hunting is in those games. DMax Adventures, breeding, and “chaining” (which it really isn’t since it’s more just encounters that don’t reset after you save and close the game) are the only ways to shiny hunting. DMax Adventures is the only one that has good odds too. Breeding is still breeding which is super boring. The chaining method requires 500 encounters (which takes for-fucking-ever to get to) just to get to the same odds as Masuda method breeding but without any of the control you’d have over the Pokémon’s stats.
Well, you'll definitely have people rip it to shreds, I'm sure of it, once the game comes out. As well as vice-versa. But, it's a fact this game is entirely different from the Pokemon games we're normally used to having produced by GameFreak. I don't know if comparing the two would be a fair thing to do, but I'm sure people will do it regardless. It'll be like comparing Breath of the Wild to Skyward Sword, which do things totally different from each other, and are designed differently as well. The only thing I could see people comparing the two games with is, just like in this video, animations, visuals, and overall design. Other than that, they'll need to judge it on it's own merits; overall story, mechanics, consistent frame rates, number of Pokemon to catch, Zones to venture through; is the game linear or does it really live up to being a true sandbox open world game? Things like that.
Legends Arceus is like the Pokemon game that a lot of people have dreamed about for years. I just hope it’s been given enough time and effort as Jan 2022 still seems like it’s too early to release.

I'm just past the point where I can get excited by something like this. I'm glad they are taking a step in the right direction, but it feels like they are 20 years behind. Sure, there's slight improvements, so they are only 19 years behind now, but it just feels like the gap has grown too big. I look at other games and the incredible interactivity, visual quality, scope, innovation, etc. and it's all just so far ahead... Pokemon used to set standards, but nowadays the standards of what we can and should expect from videogames are set by others, and I honestly can't imagine the investment that is necessary to get the Pokemon franchise up to speed in that regard. Legends Arceus, while better, still looks very unfinished to me, which would be fine, but it's only like 4 months til release already? So kinda looks like it will be another rushed job again. Maybe I'm too pessimistic, and hey, I'm always ready to be convinced otherwise, but for now I refuse to get my hopes up just because of some hesitant first tiny steps towards improvement.
I'm still kind of excited, but I completely get you. I've been with Pokemon since the very beginning and having it be massively outclassed JRPG's that came out decades ago is noticeable. Heck, the new games still haven't reached Pokemon Colosseum until maybe now. Now we are into "next gen" and get stuff like DokeV shown and it is jarring. MH Stories 2 definitely outclasses Pokemon, and I'm sure Shin Megami Tensei V will wake up a lot of Pokemon fans.
"They are 19 years behind" Pokemon silver came out 1999 (22 years). Pokemon Ruby came out in 2002 (19 years). Pokemon literally apexed its' competition around Emerald (2004). 19 years ago? Pokemon was still a fresh IP 19 years ago. It's barely 25 years old. It wasn't trying to be a 3D grand-scale JRPG, it was a series for mobiles (gameboy) for little kids. Man. As much as I'd want to criticize Pokemon, the people actually criticizing pokemon keep giving the most insane and baseless criticisms.
@@horusschnopp1882 Did you even read my comment? The whole point of it was to say that Pokemon stagnated two decades ago and hasn't progressed since, while the world has moved on. Comparing Pokemon Silver/Gold and Pokemon Sword/Shield, it's basically the same exact thing aside from some basic graphics updates. Now they are trying to make a "proper", non-gameboy style game for pretty much the first time (or at least the first time in ages), and it shows. While other game devs who got popular 20 years ago have worked on such games for decades and improved them in a myriad of ways, this game looks like something made in 2002, back when technology was still restricting devs to not allow for anything better. As I said - I don't hate the project. I think it's a good base idea. But I'm not getting emotionally invested in some hasty cash grab, and I'm not paying 60-70 bucks for a game that looks and feels as if it should have come out 20 years ago instead of today, when the standards of what we can expect from gaming are so much higher. Pokemon lives off nostaglia and nothing else at this point, and tiny steps in the right direction are not gonna make me feed that nostalgia monster against better judgement just yet.
Nintendo made Breath of the Wild. I will compare every other open world game they host to this game, including Legend Arceus. If this makes me petty as shit so be it.
this is the one game i dont mind if it takes a long time to be released since this is the most ambitious project game freak ever thought of and i kinda want it to be released without any complication
@Fanjanhong * It actually is mainline officially. However that really doesn't matter. Legends Arceus will have the same amount of impact on Gamefreak and their games regardless of some simple label
Didn't realize they added size changes within same Pokemon species. That's something I'd always wanted but always assumed we'd never get. Very very happy to see it's finally happening. One step closer to getting Pokemon that actually feel like real creatures. ...now if only they'd bring back color variations like they had in the Stadium games. Then we'd basically have everything.
I really can't wait to see the huge legendaries. I'm also very glad and feel a relief that, gamefreak decided to finally listen to their fans. It's been a year or 2 I haven't touch à pokemon game, but knowing this, I may give it a shot.
It feels like Legends is a direct response to Sword and Shield. Like "Holy shit, people HATED this game, they hate us too, we need to do the opposite of this and get their attention so they won't abandon us"
Now if only the environments didn't look straight out of the PS2 and didn't clash with the visual design of the pokemon. Oh well, baby steps from the multi-billion dollar company I guess.
I've been a Pokemon fan since the start, and I def suffered the "N-n-next time, it'll get better!" when they finally started doing 3D. S&S was my final straw, everything in that game looked like lower effort, half done dog shit ... and people ate it up. I decided that if GF didn't want to TRY to make something good with all the stupid cash this IP brings in then maybe these games are no longer for me ... so that was the first Pokemon Main line game I didn't buy, and I decided to protest to the whole damn series cold turkey. The more I see of this game, the more I feel like I can start enjoying these games again. I'm def interested in breaking my Pokemon strike for this.
Im way more excited for this than bdsp and that isnt a shot at ilca, i just dont care for more of the same from pokemon, gaming in general has gotten too safe and too many games are just good not great

Something that I really like about the battle system in Legends Arceus is that it seems very similar to the battles that take place in the Pokemon Adventures manga, its not just the pokemon that need to stay on there toes, but the trainers as well. It makes the battles so much more interesting and engaging
I feel like the whole high quality animations thing was referring to the poking camp, cause the poking are very expressive there, if only they told us it was for that in the first place.
I really hope that the changes to Pokemon made in Legends Arceus are going to stick with the series as a whole. I'm really tired of GF dropping cool and fun features for seemingly no reason. (contests, following pokemon, pokeathlon, mega evolution, the battle frontier, etc.)
Masuda actually has given a reason and it's completely stupid. He said, that they don't keep gimmicks for future games, because they think newer games having multiple gimmicks will make the older ones look worse by comparison
The thing I’m most worried about for Legends is that the “story” will be completing the dex, which will make it seem like such a chore. If they implemented certain quests and story beats Legends could legitimately be a GoTY contender.
@wrn beltran i mean, they will OBVIOUSLY do more for the story besides just completing the dex, or else having "Arceus" in the title would be completely fucking pointless lmao
You forgor 💀 to metion that when a pokemon uses a move that requires high speed movement, it affects the grass and other things around them. A neat little detail, but something even better is that when a really strong move is used and the player is too close, the shockwave will knock them over.
I’ll be honest in saying that I was once one of those who would defend SWSH a lot, and I’m not really a fan of SWSH anymore. Because just seeing the 2nd trailer for Pokémon Legends Arceus, it honestly looks amazing and it makes SWSH look like garbage in comparison. I’m excited for Pokémon Legends Arceus, and I hope I will enjoy it more. I’m a sucker for open world games.
@@tacticstories7159 Idk. I thought it was mostly a fun game, especially the Isle of Armor & Crown Tundra DLC’s. And later I realized how mid the base game was before the league and the Eternatus stuff. Still better than Gen 6 and 7, but not by a whole lot. Reason I defended a lot back then was because I was kind of tired of all the complaints about the games, I get most of the complaints now, one of them being that the wild area looked like crap. And I do agree with that. Plus, it was just the same gym formula but just slightly different. And I like the different approach/formula they’re going for with Legends Arceus, and I think it should carry on into Gen 9 somehow.
@@mr.preston1632 There are some areas that look fine in SWSH, most other areas looked terrible. The same can be said about BDSP and Legends Arceus in a way but they don’t look as bad as SWSH, at least imo. And about the “game footage not final” thing, I know this is a bit unrelated, but from the improvements we saw of these 2 games in the August 2021 presents, they really made it look like the “game footage not final” message back in February wasn’t lying. Game footage not final has always meant something for Pokémon, but up until BDSP and Legends Arceus, it didn’t mean something that big, as we could see with SWSH, barely any changes or polishing were made to SWSH before it released.

I feel like the textures aren't good enough yet, but if the gameplay is as hype as it seems to be, this could really be the first pokemon game worth 60 euros in almost a decade
It won't be good enough because GameFreak only have until late November to December to polish up the textures and frankly, that is not enough time in terms of game development. Remember how bad the Wild Area looked and the animation was when we saw the footage of Sword and Shield for E3 2019?
GKBLUEXZYÈ Bandicoot Wow, you're such a moron. They have around late Nov-Dec to fix it because gaming companies already finished developing the game and they have to print loads of copies and cases to ship it around the world just for that month, so it could reach retail stores. In addition, critics are receiving their review copy and they're playing these games beforehand just to write their review. That's why there were gameplay leaks of Smash Ultimate before it was released for the public to play. Same with Sw/Sh when a leaker leaked the information regarding the Pokedex. Congrats on displaying your ignorance once more. You can drop that façade act.
Would LOVE to see an animation for when a pokemon is about to get hit. Like they put up their guard and brace for impact right before being hit. Instead of just standing there.
It's so sad when people underrate the importance of player immersion because it means one of two things. 1. They're used to playing decent quality media that makes an effort to immerse you so they don't know what it's like to lack immersion. 2. They're so dumb or have so low standards that they can inhibit their sense of reality with little to no effort or assistance.
I’ve never even owned a Pokémon game and this stuff excites me. I’ve always been a Pokémon fan, and watching them animated in a way that’s charming and immersive?? Love it. Looooveeee it. Makes me consider getting the game, hell, even a switch. Thanks for covering all of this over the years
And they totally could to. Just assigning animations to personality IDs that are assigned on generation would be a step up that a lot of animal capture games don't even have.
@Fanjanhong *Would 30 custom sets of animation would be too much for the amount of pokemons available? Yes, but the main reason is that GF is known to play safe, and not to push any sort of boundaries anyway, so it would not be realistic to expect something like this. Also, GF has done a pretty bad to optimise their own games, can you imagine how much space would be necessary to put all this information in one single cartridge.
@@skullerclawerbandicoot7966 Was there 898 pokemons available in the data of Sw/Sh? I don't think so, if the entire Pokemon collection is not available in the main series, why would GF even bother to add all of the pokemons in a Spin-off game anyway?

I get that swsh wasn't great. But garbage? No. It showed innovation with the wild area and the graphics were still a step up even if they aren't great, it's still an improvement. @@therockingvolbeat3630 the wild area isn't really an innovation though. Games have done the whole enemies- on- the- field thing since the SNES and it's been done much more competently in PS2 games. Honestly seeing you praise the new games has helped me to see what you have been saying really is because you care and not just hating on everything just because.
Trust me, if you come out of the Pokemon comfort zone, you will come across jrpgs that the Pokemon franchise can't even touch. If you play a lot of jrpgs outside of Pokemon, you will see it is lacking in many ways. However, if you are stuck to only playing Pokemon, you won't know what you are missing out on.
The hype is rising again. I still don't like the "too much realistic" natural environments, but that's more of a personal problem of taste (I prefer cartoonish tall grass and water just being a blue mirror of sorts). This video was very well put together. That being said, I dont feel that the updated animations are enough to carry it to finally be the next pokemon game that the fans deserve. A lot of these changes should have happened 2 generations ago imo. I feel that most of this is the bare minimum at this point. It is nice to see these changes implemented, but again, most of these changes should have happened years ago.

You know what would be amazing for Legends Arceus? *If you could fill up a Pokemon Entry bit by bit.* What do I mean by that? The following: So, you remember how when we capture a new Pokemon, we have their entry filled up? I thought when I was younger that I was doing the writing and research. But turns out all you do in the main series is listing the Pokemon living in [Region's name]. Which is underwhelming in a way. But here? You are asked to make up the FIRST pokedex, with an expedition crew! Sooooo... *What if you could fill up a Pokemon entry depending on what you do?* For instance: -What the Pokemon like to eat? Maybe you can find out by observing them in the wild, or feed them many type of foods to see what it likes and hate. -How about size and weight? Capture it and interact with them afterward! -How about the description? Perhaps you have to observe their life in the wild. Specific behaviors would be written down. So it would be as such: "X is a pokemon that like running around." Is the description you have after observing the specie run. BUT if you discover they are territorial, then the Pokedex would have the following written in their description, "It is also a very territorial Pokemon!". -And where can you find the specie? That would slowly fill up as you make encounters of the same type of Pokemon across the region, so for instance: You find Pokemon X to the West of the region, it will be written as such in your Pokedex. But if you find it to the East of the region, it will fill that information in the location part of the entry! There are more I cannot think of but could be used following the same logic: YOU study the Pokemons, therefore instead of being all granted, you have to study and observe them, but also interact to have unique data! If they could do that with this game... Sure it is a big dream, but that would be unique and refreshing, and expand the lifespan of your gameplay!
From what you've seen in the Legends Arceus trailers so far what would you like to see improved upon?
Only thing im not happy with so far is the graphics, i know Pokémon has never had the best graphics, but i still wish it could have some Incredible looking graphics. Everything else seems promising.

Better textures, more detailed environments and better colouring. But since the game is coming out in less than 5 months, we probably won't be seeing any of those. :(

With the "more than one year to develop" excuse they are just admitting that SwSh is a rushed as hell mess now

I wish they got more people if wanting to do more projects instead of having 159 or 200 people. I believe they could be working on Gen 9 right now sense Legends is done

@@xlbthedemigod5662 They can afford to hire more people too but they won't for some reasons that may or may not be understandable.

@@starmanexe7721 yeah . The problem is pokemon fanbase is too loyal for them to stop buying pokemon games. Nostalgia comes with it too.
It should be noted that often times, while other franchise have jumps, they also take more time per game. Gamefreak doesn't because the vast majority of their fans want MORE new Pokemon and MORE new games. As such, instead of having large jumps per game, they do more games with smaller jumps.

And for us, it benefits. Instead of waiting just 5 years for a game on the level of Legends, we waited 5 years and got SwSh AND Legends.
So 2 games in the same amount of time we would have gotten one.

I'd love to see lower evolutions of Pokemon following their higher evolution parents, such as a pair of gible following a garchomp in a group.
Im pretty sure this game is gonna sell big lol
You're afraid of this game only selling 18 million units?????
I don't think you realize that most games aren't even hitting the 10 million unit mark. Hell, it's a HUGE deal if a game even hits a 1 million unit mark.
Gamefreak has had HIGH support throughout all of their bs. They don't deserve more money for actually putting effort into their games, the effort being shown now is the MINIMUM amount of effort they should have been giving all this time.
@@TheMissingLink2
What's important is perspective.

Do not confuse the imaginary version of the game you've invented with the one GameFreak is actually selling.
All the stuff looks cool but the gameplay seems repetitive and boring
@@PlatinumAltaria you are delusional
Good for you.
Xenoblade Chronicles is a Wii game and still looks better than this, Monolith has a really damn solid grasp on open world or just large environments in general that I'm puzzled why Nintendo doesn't meddle more with The Pokémon Company/Gamefreak
Either way, while the game still looks like shit overall, I'm glad they got rid of glaringly obvious and ridiculous flaws like the "high quality turning animations" and started putting attention into tiny details, and also tried to go with the franchise in a new direction, since the Switch seems to be the Nintendo console where every franchise is reinventing itself with absolute bangers of games (Zelda, Mario, Fire Emblem, Kirby as of late) or otherwise taking a massive leap in quality (Smash, Metroid). The artstyle is incredibly unappealing to me but I'm glad they're at least putting some effort despite Swosh being a hot mess and selling like hotcakes, thus proving gamefreak that they don't really need to put in effort for people to buy product then get excited for next product

Gamefreak didn’t even make those games tho. HAL labs made stadium and colosseum was made by Genius Sorority. They never had that stuff and those games were made on extremely old platforms by the time we got anywhere near that level of integration on handhelds.

Because just seeing the 2nd trailer for Pokémon Legends Arceus, it honestly looks amazing and it makes SWSH look like garbage in comparison. I’m excited for Pokémon Legends Arceus, and I hope I will enjoy it more. I’m a sucker for open world games.
I'm genuinly curious. Why did you like and defend the game?
@@tacticstories7159 It was fun, if you aren’t trying to look at it, at first it seems like an improvement, but if you peel back the layers, oh god
@@user-wr7kj9cw1p There's no denying that pokemon can be enjoyed. But weren't you upset about how unimpressive and basic a pokemon console game turned out?

I don’t think the Pokémon are actually going to have varied sizes, I just think the Japanese trailer has fixed scaling.
Yeah, looks like it
I hope that's the case honestly, I prefer to have them being the correct size instead of various different ones each.

@@TomboyGamerGal yeah, that's why I hope a cool gameplay, even though I would have really appreciated a decent graphics for once...
@@TomboyGamerGal Actually, they have until Jan 28th to fix it. So I have hope they'll fix it by then
GKBLUEXZYÈ Bandicoot Wow, you're such a moron.
@@TomboyGamerGal damn bro they made one slip up why tf did you respond like they just insulted your intelligence
This looks amazing. Legends Arceus is going to be the best pokemon experience since B&W2 for me.
Thanks for covering all of this over the years
As obiwan said in tcw season 7 “I am cautiously optimistic”

Legends Arceus protags: "We're you, but nowhere near as derpy looking..."
So basically nothing's changed since the originals
Others:*Complaining about The Quality animation of Sword and shield*
Me:"Dude the Moving sprites of pokemon black and white are so cool"
Nothing made me happier than seeing that you can craft your own pokeballs from apricots.
Itd be cool of the natues actually played a role in how pokemon react to you
And they totally could to.
@@Fabio-lq7wb With 898 pokemon at the same time
@@skullerclawerbandicoot7966 Was there 898 pokemons available in the data of Sw/Sh? I don't think so, if the entire Pokemon collection is not available in the main series, why would GF even bother to add all of the pokemons in a Spin-off game anyway?

You forgot to mention that, instead of textures for eyes and mouths, the fully modeled them
The good news is: It looks like we'll be seeing some major improvement despite Gamefreak's ability to get away with anything they want. The bad news is: Those who defended SwSh won't learn their lesson about supporting garbage. You know life is rough when getting what you want feels like a loss.
I get that swsh wasn't great. But garbage? No. It showed innovation with the wild area and the graphics were still a step up even if they aren't great, it's still an improvement.
And they can't get away with anything. The most you hear about swsh is complaints. Maybe realise gamefreaks used to making ds games and are maybe still transitioning to making games for a more powerful console.
Agreed.

A fanboy would think the games are perfect. I don't, the games have major flaws and are definitely not worth their price tag.
The pokemon community seems to enjoy hating on the games rather than playing them these days...
@@therockingvolbeat3630 the wild area isn't really an innovation though. Games have done the whole enemies- on- the- field thing since the SNES and it's been done much more competently in PS2 games. Trust me, if you come out of the Pokemon comfort zone, you will come across jrpgs that the Pokemon franchise can't even touch. This doesn't look very realistic at all though.

*If you could fill up a Pokemon Entry bit by bit.*
What do I mean by that? The following:
So, you remember how when we capture a new Pokemon, we have their entry filled up? I thought when I was younger that I was doing the writing and research. But turns out all you do in the main series is listing the Pokemon living in [Region's name]. Which is underwhelming in a way.
But here? You are asked to make up the FIRST pokedex, with an expedition crew! Sooooo...
*What if you could fill up a Pokemon entry depending on what you do?*
For instance:
-What the Pokemon like to eat?
This is literally in the game, did you watch the direct? lol
