We can't imagine the pain and anger men on both sides were going thru. All were put thru immense suffering being forced to bear more then any man should have to bear. When everything you love is gone and all that you have left is anger and pain with no prospects of any kind of future...then I guess we would be just a form of man.
Funny Sherman was allowed to retire in peace after his atrocities on a much larger scale..
The thing is, if you act this way, then do not be surprised if they do not let you surrender. You basically waved the black flag. War is a full contact sport. If you never fought one, then do not judge.
