If homelessness is now a crime in the US does that mean a landlord that is evicting a tenant is now aiding in a crime? Are they forcing someone into committing a crime, isn't that against the law
You wouldn't be wrong... but that's by design. If you've ever seen John Stossel's "Illegal Everything", you'll understand that every citizen, every day, can be found guilty of some crime under the current legal system. The reason for this was best said by E.B. when asked why the U.S. Tax code is so convoluted, E.B. Tucker commented _"Because it's easier to govern criminals than a free people."_
It's costing us more to remove people than it does to house each other.
The separation of healthcare from the congressional floor. BALANCE THE BUDGET for duty of care legislation and pull up your bootstraps and invest in your people first.
@@micheleholmes9692 Imagine...
People who are healthy, would have little reason to be unemployed or unemployable...
But they don't want people healthy, because healthy people might live longer, and they might retire...
See, the wealthy can afford Cadillac health care.
So can Congress and the President...
But they are enjoying universal healthcare, as do Israeli and Ukrainian people, on our tax dollars...
The only people who don't get to enjoy being healthy, are those who are paying for all of it ...
That's me...
And that's you too ...
Agreed. We should not have this homeless problem. The main problem are the people we elect. California has thrown billions, at the problem, and the homeless numbers have significantly increased. Every so often, they have a big celebration for the media presenting a housing for a hundred. The money's going somewhere, but not into this, just as with EV charging stations, education and so many other govt programs. The governor has welcomed illigal migrants abd gifted them with cell phones, free healtcare that even includes transgender care, free food and housing and a cash card. Things that citizen and veterans would give anything for. They're even getting social security in some cases. All the Democrats want in return is their votes.
They just keep passing more laws and spending money, lots of talk, but little action. We repay this by voting them back into office. We get the government we vote for.
@@michellehenry1261 I agree, simply throwing money into a problem isn't actually a good idea.
I would point to the fact that most of the money went into the pocket of hotel and motel room owners and into the pocket of the wrong people, and often without accountability, transparency, or a paper trail.
Other states have actually reduced their homeless population and the number of houses that are sitting empty at the same time, and over half of those people have become self sufficient and upstanding productive members of these communities, while participating in a working program which helps establish residency and employment.

What is your alternative?
Capitalism alone is a consumer and never replaces the resource used because it's replaced with cash , so social safeguards are needed to also promote life , community , law and safe living !

Tomorrow by the way it's going... seriously.
Did you allow those forces you critique in this report to decide to remove Chris Hedges from The ‘Real’ News Network? I don’t know exactly what happened. So I ask.
Why would TRNN drop chris hedges?? He was their best host!
@@davidlong1111 excellent question.
@@kimberlymims3792This decision was indeed a mistake, but it was made by the network executive board, and the reason was over his coverage of Israel and Gaza, and Palestine...
This topic seemed to offend them.
So, they decided to dump him, to limit his ability to speak about it...
@@rogernormanjr4315ARE YOU SERIOUS?!
Hedges is gone?
Homelessness is the unspoken sin of capitalist society. Everyone thinks something should be done about it in theory, and yet it is so ingrained in us as normal that we don’t question its pervasiveness. We treat it as a happenstance of life rather than a crime of our society. As soon as you draw too much as attention to it, you put in too many other pretexts of society under scrutiny. In fact, you can almost draw a 1-to-1 correlation between which countries are capitalist vs. which are socialist by which guarantee housing and employment as universal rights and which do not.
It all boils down to this: why do we have to pay to live in a world we were born into?
Bravo tovarich.
I love how people pile in to try to justify the system no matter how badly the system is failing. Fixing homelessness is simple. You give people homes. They don't need to be fancy they just need to be adequate. The state can employ people to build those homes and distribute them on an as needed basis. It's more humane than criminalising homelessness, it actually fixes the problem and it creates jobs in the construction sector. You don't need to be a commie to figure this out you just need to get your head out of the box that the oligarchs want to keep you in.
Give people homes? Give? Pie in the sky PC BS.
@@unbreakable7633Gosh…..
Capitalists can’t validate scarcity without contrived examples such as housing
@@unbreakable7633 Yes, GIVE. What is PC about that?

This is why I'm voting for Robert Kennedy Jr 2O24 🎉You should have him on your show. He speaks about all of this and has solutions.
Capitalism is not the problem. Lack of empathy is the problem.
So maybe Jeff Singer could name some companies that are nonprofit or run at losses, those not subsidised by a government redistributing the wealth created by a profitable ‘capitalist’ one? Where does the government source the finance for its costs for its bureaucracy, or do they work for free, including the offices, equipment required and for infrastructure such as roads, rail, bridges, electricity, water, education, health, housing….what does Jeff Singer do for the economy? How many people does he employ in his business that meets the needs of his workers and the community, including housing, food and education?

Great content! Terrible comments. There are way too many haters.
ok the man who is the person people literally use as the guy....Marx is the easiest to destroy and make the entire ideology crumble like a tower of cards...
Marx and EVERY SOCIALIST advocate on earths argument against capitalism is the Pareto Principle....THAT IS 100% the argument......but NONE OF THEM OR MARX SEE IT...
Pareto principle applies to communism, capitalism, and socialism too kid....only difference is in communism or socialism the top 20% of the Pareto principle are government workers....not people selling a good or service to willing customers.... AN ARGUMENT AGAINST CAPITLISM IS INHERENTLY AN ARGUMENT AGAINST FREEDOM
The fundamental problem is Gov't cheating the ledger of society through inflation, green spaces pushing ppl out, & regulatory restrictions making stiff more expensive.
"Capitalism" is sloppy shorthand for the current system which caused the problems to begin with.
Getting on a Bitcoin standard prevents landlords from making a profit from renting & causes houses to get cheaper.
Capitalism isn't perfect but it's the best option available. Those who hate capitalism don't understand economics and a lot of them just want socialism because they want to receive a check but not have to work, but that's not really how it works. You don't fix problems by stealing from the rich to give to the poor. And if we were to enter into a socialist society, that would only make us all equally poor and the so-called "elite" would continue getting richer, plus we would be just a step away from communism and we would end up under a dictatorship. We would end up just like Venezuela, so if that's what you want then just move to Venezuela instead of trying to destroy America by turning it into Venezuela!😤🤷
You should read "On Cuba" by Noam Chomsky and Vijay Prashad.
Did you know it was the communist party in the early 20th century that fought for labor rights in America? Communism does not equal dictatorship.
Capitalism is also a dictatorship ran by many ultra wealthy dictators instead of one. And through their power and wealth they easily bend our leaders to their will through donations and large investment firms. It's a selfish system that benefits only the haves while the majority are poor.
The Real problem is DRUGS! Wake up! Drugs take away your spirit, desire, common sense. Once you are addicted to drugs nothing else matters but drugs.

Capitalism isn't perfect, no system is, but it's the best we've got. Bullshit!
Capitalism serves the desires of those who have the most.
The good ones are forced to compete with the Greedy.
The system is the problem and can be eliminated.
Your comment lacks definition and content.
But at least you attempt to discuss......
Thank you.
This is not accurate at all. Anarcho-syndicalism is the best system, but nobody knows it exists. All it takes is reading a little bit of history. George Orwell, Rudolf Rocker, and Mikhail Bakunin are good places to start.
Also... all of the best health care systems in the world are not capitalist, all of the best transportation systems in the world are not capitalist, all of the best utility systems in the world are not capitalist, etc. etc. There is no evidence that capitalism is "the best" system, it's just better than feudalism & slavery, but not impressive with a bar that low. Capitalism only improved because of activists and unions fighting AGAINST the system to institute higher wages, regulations, welfare states, etc.
Credit unions, public utilities, worker & housing co-ops, etc. are not radical ideas and are great alternatives to maximization of profits and market shares.

People won’t go to work if they can’t make a profit. People won’t create and grow Buisiness if they can’t make a profit.
Wages are not synonymous with profits. You can be paid by a non-profit or the state. Go figure.
It's very to silly impose the profit motive as the only motive of economic activity. It's a childlike assertion which is not applicable to all economic environments. It's seems when you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
How much profit do people make at a minimum wage job?😮
@@user-yz2in7kb4w Right? If profit were the only motivation to do work, why do we work at low paid jobs? Maybe the answer is that the violence of the state will be brought to bear on us if we attempt to meet our needs in other ways.
