    Nice video! I didn't realize you could use a QWERTY keyboard with the MPC. Another way to achieve this is to use List Edit. Then you can actually use the Shift button ON the MPC while you freely select (the Velocity field of) as many hits as you want. Once you've done that, you can use the main Jog Wheel to raise and lower the velocity levels of all the events you've selected at once. Using this method, you can also adjust the timing, probability, panning, and a bunch of other aspects of hits/notes.

      That's true. You can raise and lower the velocity value of all selected notes at once, which is cool. However, there is no way to set or enter a FIXED velocity value of all the notes at once while using just the MPC alone, which is what I'm trying to do. I really wish there was!!!! I plan to try it with a QWERTY keyboard.

    Wow…I thought that Akai had abandoned the QWERTY keyboard and you no longer could hook it up. I remember back in ‘17 when it had more things you could type but after several updates things started disappearing. I was REALLY hoping with the 3.0 that this would come back (glad to see it’s still available) but I’d be nice to see Akai fix it so you could select all, every other note etc without having to waste time doing individual. Still great that you found this thanks. I’m going to try a mouse on it now too!

      @LiftedNoise  Рік тому +2

      I don't think the mouse works at all but yea I remember that too, more of the characters used to work. The tab button also works. Tell me if you find a purpose for that..it allows you to move around the screen and select different sections.

  • @kvmoore1
    @kvmoore1 Рік тому

    This is very valuable and helpful to me. Thanks for sharing.
    I do have one question, however. Have you found a way to select all the notes in a track with just one tap instead of dragging your finger across the screen and enter a fixed numerical velocity value for all selected notes? I've been trying to figure out an easy way to do this for the longest.
    This is very easy to do on the old MPCs like the 4000 and the 2500 with just a few button presses because there is a dedicated "Window" button and when you highlight the cursor on the track velocity in the "Main" screen, a window will come up allowing you to enter a fixed velocity value for all of the notes pertaining to the current selected track.
    Unfortunately, there is no such feature on these newer current-generation MPCs. The only alternatives are the grid edit screen and the list edit screen. However, the way of selecting notes in grid edit is rather clunky and unintuitive, as you have just revealed in this video. I prefer the list edit screen. However, the MPC still won't allow me to enter a fixed velocity value for "ALL SELECTED NOTES" !!! This means I have no way of setting a fixed value for all selected prerecorded notes in a track that have various velocity values. I may not want to have "FULL LEVEL" on all the time while actually recording notes. However, I would like to have the ability to set all the prerecorded midi notes in a track to a fixed velocity value I specify with just one operation. I really hope Akai makes this possible in a future update.
    I'm going to connect a USB computer keyboard to my MPC One and see if I discover something using the shift and control keys while selecting and trying different functions on the MPC.

      You could also use two pads for your hi hats and to the left of the grid where the column that shows each rows pad designation you can tap the pad number you want to highlight the notes for and it will select the whole row.
      Also if you want to delete everything you have highlighted you can hold shift and at the bottom of the screen the menu changes and the options become
      TC, CUT, COPY, PASTE, MUTE and SOLO
      Timing correction, cut works like it does on a computer it deletes what you have highlighted, but saves it to a clipboard so you can paste it somewhere else, this version of copy doesn't duplicate what you have highlighted it works like a computer's copy function, paste works by using the play head as your cursor and if you tap the blue timeline across the top of the grid the play head the play head will land there where you tapped, and then you can paste whatever you either copied or have on the clipboard from your last cut action.
      To move the play head to the beginning of the timeline hold shift and hit stop.
