    No need for shoot stop shoot? If you do astro-photography and/or shoot multi-exposure bracketing that is not the case ... that makes this slider limiting IF you want timelapse shots done in difficult shooting environments or want higher quality time lapse photos. All that said, it does seem like a very good and inexpensive slider. It looks like a cheaper version of an Edelkrone Slider Plus with broader potential use.... unless you use the Edelkrone slider plus with a SYRP whose battery life is about 24 hrs for timelapse (6 hrs. for video). BTW, What is the battery life for this unit ... I didn't notice you mentioned that?

      Cool yes makes sense if you want HDR time lapses or long exposure photos with each frame not having any camera movement motion blur. But for video uses an astro time lapse will still work if the slider continues moving, the only difference is it will have a slight bit of motion blur, but I think it looks more natural and less choppy this way anyways, since that cannot be more blurry than a video shot at around 1/30 shutter speed.
      The website says 5-8 hours use with an 800g camera and that it depends on having it well balanced. I'm guessing it will be longer for time lapse, since the motors don't have to work as hard compared to running around. And I guess you could add a 12v battery pack to it for longer run times.

    doesn't the weight of the camera + lens + gimbal exceed the weight of the TurnsPro motorised head? do you run into any issues because of it?

    • @nitsan
      @nitsan  6 років тому

      Yes it's far more than it's rated for, but when going flat it works fine as long as the connections aren't causing too much friction, like at the bearing. I've tested this motor with 5kg and it worked fine.

    Can you do a video comparing it to some other gimbals? Just for purely gimbal use? I was thinking of getting a zhiyun crane, but this is cheaper, so im considering it...

    Sweet, Nitsan! What I didn't understand from the review - are you able to have it perform the recorded movie continuously? Example: a motorised slider traveling back and forth, and have the gimbal repeat the move in reverse each revolution?

    • @nitsan
      @nitsan  6 років тому

      No at the moment it doesn't repeat a move backwards. Even if it did, it wouldn't sync up with the slider so it wouldn't work well.

    Great tip! I tried this using my beholder ds1 before, but it wouldn't always repeat exactly the angles that I wanted (in timelapse mode). Normal video worked well

    Hi Nitsan, I would love to purchase on of those items that connect your Motor Bracket to the Slider. What is it? Where can I get one? Thanks, Ken.

      Hey. I'm not sure exactly which part you mean but all the motor parts should be linked below the motor video. It's somewhere at the top of my favourites playlist.

    Very interesting setup. I thought about using a gimbal on top of a slider (and an alpinelabs Radian to move the slider), and rented a zhiyun crane v2 for testing, but it has a very long handle and it's not very stable when you put it over a slider. On top of that, the gimbal has not very powerful motors, and a slight wind will affect it a lot and cause vibrations, and i think that's a common problem for any gimbal out there. Another problem is that the timelapse features of zhiyun gimbals are very limited and the app doesn't work quite well.
    But that gimbal is just so cheap in comparison!! Maybe it's just worth it to have some drawbacks. Personally, i think i'll wait until it is a little more developed and has less limitations.

      Cool.
      I think there are gimbals that don't have issues with a bit of wind. I've used gimbals on a skateboard and that's really fast air movement.

      Ah good point. Can you get them ready to use or do you have to custom build it?

      You can get them in all "flavours" from basic to full kit, although it doesn't include a monitor, but you can even use one of those little HDMI reversing monitors.
