7:20 alkan: "oh ? what's that ? you're learning about four part SATB harmony in university ? well here's six part harmony noob gg get rekt" the staves: "am i a joke to you ?"
I wish we could hear this in the concert hall a bit more. It's so underrated (and probably unknown) by most professional pianists. A brilliant etude, which I feel is a great piece of programme music.
lmao he really needed to remind us that it's indeed alkan composing at the all moderato section, just in case we were skeptical with that adagio section

8:54 definitely taken from Beethoven's Opus 27, No. 1, when the adagio returns before the coda.
Man those scales going up the keyboard in the middle section sound so good. Played very well I mean

9:18 I hear the ten bell hits from Beethoven's Opus 110 here ! Just before the inverted fugue.
Superb interpretation. Luscious tonal quality!!!
Underrated masterpiece
Chopin's Ballade No.2
Surprised nobody pitched in that it might be inspired from Mozart's Sonata, so I'll be that person. 😂
Which one
The one in A major. The 3rd mvt of it is the famous Alla Turca. נימרוד שפר
Also, the opening melody uses the first bar of Bach’s Siciliano from Sonata BWV 1031.
Fiendish!!!!!
Inspired by Bach
