Watches with diamonds are not for everybody! Nevertheless, I get a lot of requests from clients who like the bling bling...requests to ice their watches out!
That's the reason I made this video, for the clients who like diamond watches (watch purists, please don't yell 'Bloody Murder!').
On this video, I show you five examples of three different blinged out watch brands: Rolex, Patek Philippe, and AP.
A diamond watch can be factory set, which means that the watch set directly by the manufacturer who makes the non-blinged version of the watch; for example, Audemars Piguet. The watches can also be added outside of the factory or after-market.
An aftermarket diamond watch costs typically a lot less than a factory version. That does not necessary mean that the craftmanship or materials used to make the watch are inferior. Furthermore, some watch models, like the Rolex Yacht-Master II, don't come with diamonds from factory; so if you have one, the only way to bling it out is to have an expert drill it and set the diamonds on it.
Nowadays, you're seeing a lot of high-end brands setting their watches with diamonds; even models like the Patek Philippe 5711 and 5980 are getting the diamond treatment.
AP has also offered a diamond version of the Royal Oak Offshore to clients. On the video, I have an aftermarket of the diamond AP.
Quality of Diamonds on a Bling Watch
Even though a lot of clients want VVS quality diamonds on their watches, the fact is that many after-market diamond watches out there don't have stones of that quality (maybe VS and SI1 quality stones instead). As long as the diamonds look good, you don't have to go all out with VVS quality diamonds if you don't have the budget for it.
The setting on a diamond watch is also very important. A high quality setting will do the diamonds more justice, allowing them to look a lot nicer on the watch. As a result, make sure that you use a quality diamond setter if you decide to bling out your watch.
Even though diamond watches are not for everybody, they are obviously a heavy hitting piece when it comes to the Watch Game.

I like watches with a little touch of diamonds, like on the dial or the bezel, but I think a full blinked out watch looks a little over the top

@2:48 I was just a teenager when I started buying dimonds. I was fortunate to have met a great dealer/jeweler who didn't mind teaching me the game. I was obsessed with vvs dimonds cause of hip hop, but when he show me the difference in look and price when compared to si1..I didn't mind that nonsense any further!

I prefer the non diamond watches, but a few diamonds on the dials like on the Black dial Rolex (with diamond numerals) look classy, without being over the top. I find the diamond watches interesting, If I saw one I liked once I tried it on & it suits me, then why not?

I agree with you. People buy a Mercedes and do some after market styling or tuning. So why not style your watch? It makes it unique. Resale is not a question. My point of view.
As a man I would admit I once had no style I wore dirty sneakers ,t shirt and jeans. I bought a Cuban necklace and a diamond watch to wear on top my boring clothes and this makes them look really swagy

I could go diamond, but just one at twelve o'clock, maybe four at 12, 3, 6, and 9, perhaps a small diamond set into the crown (like the cabochon in a Cartier), but no diamond covered watch for me. Are you sporting a gold Sub, black dial?

I like to admire pieces in their natural state just like I like my women in their natural state, no plastic surgery /enhancements. No point enhancing Art .... Not a fan , I must admit the full pave two tone looks interesting on a Patek but nah not for me but 'to each his own'.

But your forgotten to add you lose warranty when you after market diamond set, also Rolex refuses to service watches that have been customized like this. Also when you buy this you lose heavy on resale

My dad got me Green Submariner 116610 version as bday gift to my 18th, i had to chose between green sub or bling bling patek nautilus, ilike the shinig bling bling ,specialy in the right light but on streets..can not wear bling bling without looking like some gangsta rapper.

OfficalCali No my guy diamonds lose a large portion of they value when you buy them so taking a Gold Rolex and icing it out with diamonds will lower the value over time Diamonds are not as rare as you’d believe only the very large ones or odd colours are heavily prized
