Black diamonds are the blackest material on earth. No light can pass through. Because of this, judging clarity cant be difficult and irrelevent (at least for true black diamonds and not heated white diamonds, which are black but not all the way through)

I love how covert and understated Michael's negotiations are ... I always find myself very sweaty and nervous before even trying to talk a sales person down in price anticipating them to say no lol
the worst that can happen is they say no and the price stays the same
the best that can happen is they say yes and you save money
they want you to buy, it's far easier to negotiate from the buyer's standpoint
And also, do note that jewelry is not exactly like buying a Rollie. While Rollies are easy to sell because there is a universal uniform market for them, the same can’t be true of jewelry in general. The seller is already thankful that he has somebody actually interested in one of his specific pieces, so he doesn’t want to screw it up.

Peter is a real pro. He doesn't get discouraged when negotiating like some of the other jewelers Michael has worked with. He smiles and counters in a very friendly way which is a very likeable trait. First class service.

@@shogunthao7878 Except it’s not $4.5k profit. There are import costs, taxes, costs of running the shop, all of which have to be deducted from each item sold. Doing retail isn’t as easy as “buy item at X price, sell at Y price, difference between X and Y is profit/loss”.

Been to that store in Beverly Hills just to look around. He actually is a very nice guy and treats everyone important no matter what. He knew I wasn’t going to buy anything but still took the time to talk to me and welcome me. Such a great guy. If only all high end stores had customer service like that

I just inherited from my 89-year-old Armenian mother in New York a diamond eternity ring with six rows of VVS1 diamonds made by an Armenian jeweler, Edward Karalanian Who worked for Tiffany’s for many years. The matching bracelet which was also custom-made for my mother 45 years ago cost my father $60,000 but that she sold to Gregory Herdemian at Empire jewels in New York City so I don’t get to inherit that. My mother, however, has many more royal type jewels that she wants me to fly over from California to pick up in person so my husband and I are going to plan that trip soon.
I’ve always wanted to become a GIA certified jeweler. I might do that in the future.
