The Beatles did get rejections from recoding companies, as did Bob Dylan, and many other successful creatives - it's those that never got the opportunity - that's the greatest loss.
You said that the technology for this type of art will keep improving and that’s true but it’s the artistry and instinct that really does the work. I’m a big, big fan. Nice to see you talking to the camera.
Nice work and concept. I first started thinking talking and writing about the existence of other worlds existing in a purely mathematical context somewhere around 1990 or so. I determined that we were not creating anything but rather just finding or passing through them as they exist when they are "conjured" by an observer. Rather than artists or creators I began calling us "Digitographers" because we are simply taking a snapshot or a video of the virtual landscapes and objects that exist there in digital environments for us to find and document. Some are amazingly beautiful and some are amazingly terrifying. This is an excellent example of that concept. Good job!
The fundamental technology behind Mandelbulb is really, really interesting. Comes from the Demo scene, and it's pretty mind-blowingly 'simple' in concept but obviously, extremely powerful.
Many thanks. Nice to meet the face behind the ideas and artworks. Please continue to develop them! If you'd like to get into the math, and a lot of philosophy and physics too, I suggest Roger Penrose's 'The Emperor's New Mind', He discusses Mandelbrot and his ideas, and the Mandelbrot set. Roger has a very visually oriented imagination (and mind generally). Check his book out. If you don't find quite what you want - there's always the rest!
Julius, Nice to see the person behind the beautiful visions you published on UA-cam. I'm trying now myself to make my own worlds, after struggling with the workings of Mandelbulb 3D, but I find it difficult to choose which formulas to use and combine to get something usefull. If you have tips for me... Ik kijk uit naar jou volgende video.
His work is way ahead of this time. It's going to take me a couple of years to get to his level but it will be worth every single minute I spend learning Mandelbulb. At least I'm ahead as far as a music producer, can't wait to master Mandelbulb 3D.
For Julius::: fractals emerge and self transform...they epitomize Interdependence. Hence fractals would be a viewing of the worlds of the Flower Ornament Sutra...that is the most complex sutra upon which the Mahayana School of Buddhist Thought is based. Please read this Sutra...it s is amazing and transformative and Inspirational.
Amazing. Tripping with out drugs. I saw him referenced in Ancient Aliens about AI. I assume this is AI generated? Interestingly they linked crop circles as fractals and implied there's a mathematical language we might speak to Aliens with. A great part of our own natural world is based on fractals and the golden ratio. Studied since the Greek days.
Is not really AI generated, not in the way that an AI does all the work, rather it's entirely mathematical. See, there are many formulas that generate shapes. The computer crunches the numbers and creates geometry based on those formulas. The idea is to fly through that 3D space and capture images and/or the entitr fly through. The fractal software allows you to set key frames and adjust parameters of the fractals, basically like motion capture that twists and turns the geometry while you fly arund. It's a lot of fun and hell on your CPU but man is it cool when you find some out of this world geometry! Also lots of post post production done in programs like After Effects to add another layer of realness and immersion. It sure does feel like some alien stuff, but fractals are shapes that are all around us in nature. Pretty wild when you think about it. Anyway cheers!
Julius Horsthuis is my #1 favorite artist! His youtube channel is my happy place :)
Rejecting Julius from film school is like rejecting the Beatles from music school.

No, it's like rejecting Beatles from the film school ))
This was uploaded FIVE years ago and youtube offers me this only now? Outrageous!
Fantastisch mach weiter so, wir bleiben sehr gespannt auf diese
Virtuelle Welten,
da wird noch einiges geschehen 🤔❤️

Thank you for letting us see the face of my favorite artist ! And he is handsome !!

Это настоящее творчество!!!
Класс! ✌
absolutely fantastic!!!
Just breathtaking, Julius. I thank you for your great art. 🙏

this is badass great stuff man, can't wait to see it everywhere!!!
The best fractal artist.
Love this guys creations, very inspiring!
Agree, It's totally awesome!
Hi finds them, not creates :)

The math behind the fractals is the beautiful part
Julius, best video yet.
Well done, very interesting 👍
one of the best artists of this times...
I watch his works every night on a big screen with some techno music - very cool
Funny - I was having a massive session last night in my Quest 2 experiencing your art on UA-cam and now this...?!

Sometimes a rejection is the best push forward.
Thank you!!

God Bless my sun 🌞❤️🌈
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Also for those that need it to be explained. "Fractals" are not things or images. In fact there is no such thing as a Fractal used as a noun.
Je t'aime Julius
Shrooms inspired?

Not a great part of our world. ALL of it.
