  • Not really a tutorial, but a nice opportunity to understand a little bit about the phenotypic effects of various formulas and sliders in Mandelbulb 3D, using bits and pieces of my collection of Fractal Shorts.
    The music you'll hear is "Crossroads Limiter" by Asura.

    You'll normally run into symmetries when interpolating across moving julia values with julia mode on (in mandelbulb 3d). If you are using this, the best way I have found to avoid those blaring symmetry lines is to focus on a part of the scene that is segmented by the largest major julia axes, so that the smaller ones all blend into the rest of the scene

    Beautiful work man, this was very helpful. fractals are unlike any other visual effect, they are something that I should focus more time on because they are so unique!
    Also its cool we share the same first name which is not a common thing for me. :)
    Also I was wondering how long does it take you to make each shot? compared to if you were to model texture and render a scene of similar detail in a more standard 3D program?

    • @julius-horsthuis
      @julius-horsthuis  8 років тому +1

    Excellent video and gorgeous fractals. You clearly know what you're doing with the software.
    Speaking of which, what are you using? I assume that, like many-if-no-most fractal artists, you're using both Mandelbulb 3D and Mandelbulber. Do you have a preference between those? Are you using something else entirely.
    Also, you are CLEARLY doing some very detailed post work here. Such a glows of certain colors. Very inspiring, and it's making me think about how I can achieve similar using Blender, Fusion, and DaVinci Resolve.
    Great stuff. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. :D

    Hey there, Julius. I’ve been watching your videos with increasing fascination and ultimately awe. Even though you say you don’t understand the maths involved you certainly know what looks good. Anyway some thoughts that began to form as I watched got me to thinking about gaming and how awesome each of the various landscape styles would be as gaming worlds or levels within a larger gaming universe. I know even less than you about fractal geometry/architecture so I might be talking complete rubbish and the problems with this idea would be insurmountable but I’m interested to know what you think. Could these geometries be procedurally generated at all? That’s something that seems to be being used more and more these days in gaming. So if you have the time please let me know your thoughts. Thanks for a great morning’s viewing.
