I have learned over the years that I need my counters empty as possible. I use to get frustrated because I would have to move things so I had room if I wanted to bake and didn't have room to spread out. After decluttering cabinets of items we never used that was taking up space I had room to move things off of the counter. We only have our air fryer, microwave, toaster and coffee maker. We use all of these items at least once a day. I have found that the microwave is best at an angle in the corner of the counter. They just take up so much room, but we can't have ours over the stove. We do have a paper towel holder and soap next to the sink, but that is it. Even having cute decor sitting out for me is too much clutter for the space and my mind visually. Plus it makes cleaning up so much easier. Keep up the good work Lynn!

Lynn, thank you for the great motivational videos. Several years ago my now ex-husband wanted us to do marriage counseling. I agreed. One of the things he called me out on in front of the counselor was how I left empty boxes just sitting in the front entryway of our home. I mentioned to the counselor that I am ADHD, and he said, “oh, OK.“ And he went on to explain to my ex-husband that people with diagnosed ADHD have a problem with clutter blindness. We don’t see it.
My ex-husband was so disappointed that he couldn’t “get me into trouble.“
Turns out the marriage counseling was a fantastic idea. I realized that my ex-husband was a malignant narcissist and I needed to get out. I did.
I still suffer from clutter blindness, but now I have only myself to answer to. I’m working on it. Videos like yours help give me gentle reminders to take care of things.

I LOVE WHEN YOU POST CLEANING VIDEOS! I usually play one while I work on dishes (the chore I hate the most). Cleaning content is my favorite! And when we get real-life cleaning without all the "you NEED to buy THIS or you'll never have a nice house," it's actually motivating rather than irritating or discouraging. Thanks for being real. ;)

I'm in no means judging you at all ,you have older kids too do they help you clean up your house like set a timer for 15 minutes and everyone helps pick up the house before bedtime. It will help you maintain the overwhelming of you doing it yourself and and most of your kids are old enough but maybe you already do this. Only a suggestion, love your channel.

Thank you so much, for your suggestion. All are welcome here and I am open to listening to others comments. I am so happy you felt comfortable enough to do that. :-) What I have been doing is delegating task for the kids. Like tonight, while I was doing laundry in my room, I had Drew and Liam clean the living room. I had Josiah watching Emma for a minute and Noah was chatting with me. Chris was going and picking things up too. When my heart is heavy and my mind is cluttered. I don’t delegate very well. Chris steps in during those times and I’m really thankful. He’s really good at doing whatever I need him to do or what needs to be done. With so many hands and feet in the house. Things can get crazy quick. we were all getting settled and had so many things we were trying to take care of. Chris is an AC contractor and works very long days and it’s hot Florida heat so I’m thankful when he comes home and just dive right in to help. But you were absolutely right, these kids have to help cleaning up after themselves and others. Thank you so much for your suggestion and I am so thankful you were here. Sending so much love to you.

I do know that if you mop with vinegar and water hot water that will keep the Spiders away and also peppermint spray, they cannot stand the smell of peppermint. You could take cotton balls and saturate them with peppermint. Put them in the corners wherever you see. The spider webs are where they're coming in at. But those 2 things are my go to. And I don't see spiders Also, if you Go to Walmart and get Use some pure citrus spray and spray it on the outside around windows and door frames they will not come in.

I have to first brain dump everything overwhelming me and because I work out of the home full time I will at work create a word doc and do room by room and bullet point out what needs to be done. So that I can look at the bullet points and say ok I need to do counter clutter. Most times I’ll set a timer and then able to check it off and get to the next one. I try to do one room a day in doing this so it helps the overwhelm. I have recently let my house go and no motivation to keep it up which has never been me and I don’t know why. I created this weeks to do list before lunch.

Even though I struggle quite a bit during the postpartum time, I don’t have any caffeine for months and months and I always feel less revved up if that makes sense. Yes, I am super emotional and my hormones are all over the place, but the Cathy would’ve made it 100 times worse. I am so we’re trying to eliminate it. So thank you 🙏 for real inspiration 😁

I get that things get messy. We all have those days weeks, but what is like to know is how does it get so out of control. It looks like no one in your family is responsible for cleaning up after themselves. And you have older children. If it is a requirement to pick up your dirty plate, scrape it off and at least get it to the sink half the items on the counter would not be there. Two minutes to do this saves you precious time and energy. The oldest can then teach the younger ones. It just seems like there is no accountability. So you clean it but in a week it’s going right back to the chaos. Also we want to pass on good habits to our family so when they enter their own life they know how to clean up after themselves. You work extremely hard for your family. Family members have a responsibility to assist one another and as they get older that also means help mom and dad. ❤️🙏🏽

I have different clutter from yours. Mine is never trash, at least outside the kitchen. Mine is projects. For example, I bought shoe storage boxes, but no time to utilise them right away. So they sit there, next to the amazon return without a printed label, the radio that broke and that thing I need to label. Our dining table is now a joke. So, there's really two sets of tidying I have to do: one is walking through the house collecting misplaced things and a second round putting them all away. The dining table issue I at least sorted into quick fix, missing parts (like, I need to buy batteries for this) and 5 minutes. Maybe one more pile that takes longer. I can then come back and tackle stuff that fits into my extra time slots. I am not clutter blind but I have to prioritise and clutter comes last, after errands, kitchen, laundry, kids. So for the time being it drives me crazy 😂 greetings from Luxembourg 🇱🇺

I really appreciate the 30 minutes posts as they work with my using the Pomodoro method, with 25 minutes of work and five minutes to take a break and see what you and I have accomplished. Somedays I can only get one "Pomo" done but it's still done!

For the spiders, get home defense, white and red bottle, I got mine at Home Depot. Works so good. Spray your outside perimeter and windows. It works sooo good. The bugs won’t cross the line! My husband even uses its indoors.

Thank you very much for mentioning how you looked at things to be able to get stuff done. It helps more than you know and it is sooo true and not only about cleaning - it is valid for soooo many things! Thank you for mentioning - I really appreciate it. And if you do not mind me asking - if you do not mind I would appreciate if you could share how you manage to stay so thin and good looking - I am trying to lose weight and get healthier and it is one more thing I struggle with - along with everything else... Thank you

Hey friend, thank you so much for your sweet comment. It means the world to me. So, I do love to exercise, but it has been rather inconsistent lately. Walking is my favorite thing to do. I do lean on the side of eating healthy foods. And I do watch my sugar, intake and carbs. I do that for personal reasons not even for weight. I just feel my best when I limit them. But I don’t do it all the time. If I want something, I’m definitely going to have it :-) I would always encourage walking. It could be so good for the body, mind, and soul.
