I couldn't even begin to say how fantastic that was. That shows an awful lot of dedication and skill. Beautifully done and wonderful to watch\listen to.
""The piano offers the chance to be the entire band at once when you play, with the rhythm section in the left hand and the harmonies and melodies in the right hand. It’s the best! "" - These words are from Arthur during an interview and it is the fantastic, simple truth !!!!!! YOU are a great Pianist, composer ! Your Italian blood does honor to our country! Many kisses from Rome, ITALY !!!!
Fantastic stuff. Sure looked like you were enjoying yourself Arthur. Glad to see your talent making others happy too. Keep up the great work. Thankyou..
Another Italian guy sits down and gets blown away! Bravo, my brother..... That's some serious rockin' and a rollin'. That's one mighty strong left hand you got there.. Boogie woogie piano. Could listen to that all day..... The way you play it, at least.
An entire generation of the war years, all encapsulated in a single song. In the mid 1970's I and my date went to a ballroom dancing spot just to watch and most of the dancers were well into their mid 50's or so, many of them married, but still we watched in amazement as they went through the various dances and danced up a storm.
Nicely done, Arthur. Most people can't imagine that 80 to 100 years ago, this is the type of music that was being played in households across the land. Pinetop Smith, Zez Confrey and so many others, and people just learned to play their music. I wish I had studied piano more than I did as a child, I can't play left hand bass lines, just chords (although it does pretty well with my Arranger keyboards). I would love to be able to go back and learn then what I didn't. People love what you do today, and rightfully so, but there was a time when the women of the house, or the men of the house, would be able to play much the same way you do. We've forgotten, as a nation, as with so many things, how to make music ourselves. We don't have community bands, or orchestras any more, not where there are paid musicians, but neighbors. We don't have neighborhood jazz combos, or even rock bands that can play. We're too infatuated in mp3s or streaming audio. Listen to someone else, not do it yourself. So, thanks for some great Boogie Woogie. I enjoyed the romp!
That performance actually bought tears to my eyes. It was just so mind blowing. I wish I could play like that but I know how hard it is and this guy has really got a talent. I should say then, that they're obviously tears of joy (-or something.) Happy ones I think (?) Or maybe that guys playing completely dismantled my psyche and now I will be a musical wreck for ever. Whilst I argue it out with myself though, I listen to it again at full volume !!!
Beautiful version. I love when "music comes first" and being musical and expressive comes before "being true to the original sheet music". So many versions on youtube but a very few hit the right non-mechanical feel at the intro, which he did. Very good job.
"The original sheet music" never captures the original - you can always find loads of big errors or simplifications in sheet music. If you are trying to play note-for-note the original, you are just a machine operator.
Every time I need the slightest amount of motivation to get off my arse to practise - I watch this video - just love it - now hoping I can learn to play a basic version of this song before I drop dead. Mr Migliazza, just love your work.
There has been some great research done on musicians (instrumentalists) which seems to show that they begin dementia, if at all, much later in life than persons from other occupations. So not for now, at least!
I've been playing for sixty years (jazz), but boogie woogie is extremely hard unless you have a classical background or start in at the age of 5. I could never do it either

Arthur, I am an Italian drummer from New Orleans. I had the pleasure of playing with Fess in 1965 or 66 at Ole Miss for a Fraternity and Sorority party with a band called the Milestones. Also, backed up Eddie Bo, but he only sang. I was at a senior luncheon last Friday and a man who is 80 told me about you videos. I am 76 now. Have your New Orleans book. On the first chapter. Great!!! You play great!!! If you are in town on the last Sunday of the month they have a jam session at Mo's Chalet 2-6 in the daytime. It is the New Orleans Jazz Club the oldest jazz club. Hey Arthur! I have experience with music and instuments and I can really not belive this! For your age this would be impossible for "normal" people. And don't mention the chord line at 4:10, atleast 10 more years of everyday piano practice and all of this without constantly looking. You look like you are in your early 30s but you play way to good for this... You have a really impressive brain and nerves, keep it up and take care of your talent! - Cheers from Sweden
