100% I have the new 2024 yz 250x and a 2023wr I ride both but the Wr has better power delivery, the stalling is the same on the Wr I turned the idle up about 200 rpm’s it’s really not much at all but it helps a heavier flywheel would help also with the WR 250 not the 450 it’s so light nimble for a four stroke and with the adjustable maps in the Wi-Fi GTR tuner app the things you can do with that engine is amazing
Been on FE350 since 2017. Switched to a 300 for about a year then went back to a 350. It is better suited for the riding I do and feel it really is the Swiss Army knife of bikes. Super efficient so I can get long desert rides in and versatile enough to handle super technical terrain. I don’t think I’ll ever get rid of my 350. Great content and keep on brapping!
Just moved from a FE350 to 300EXC. I like different things about them and both have benefits. The 300 is 6 years newer so might not be a fair comparison. What I like about the 300 is that it does not stall almost ever, it feels lighter, the suspension is way better (but it would be way better on a brand new 350 aswell). What I like more about the 350 is how it feels more snappy off the idle and how much longer the gears are with the higher redline. Crossing logs was easier on the 350, twisty singletrack between trees is less tireing on the 300.
I have owned a 350 for about 3 years and I just love it. Such a good bike for any type of terrain. More than once I’ve been asked (by 2 stroke riders) “how are you riding that thing out here?” 😂
Amen brother, your insight and expertise is gold! 350s are underrepresentated, keep it coming, and be safe out there😃 much love from Norway! We love your videos no matter what you ride though
Rich, as a 2T purist I say nooooooooooo..but as a realist I say “what suits your riding style and where do you ride most”.. Even though I religiously follow all your riding tips I’m a crappy rider ( plus I’m 65 😂😂😂) I’ve found 2T a bit more forgiving on the lug.. Stark had an open day at my local track ( south of Sydney, Australia) , they are an awesome bike and will definitely feature in enduro/ MX in the future.. Yes 4T and electric are good but it’s the addictive 2T smell wins it for me as it takes me back to when I was a kid riding in the bush..😁👍
Its an ideal size. I moved form the 2 stroke to a 300 4 stroke for riding high mountain trails in the PNW and am loving it. So many great bikes these days.
thank you, I own FE 350 and was watching all your Beta 300/TE 300 stuff and wanted to switch to two stroke, but I think I will stay with what I've got and keep enjoying :D
Where I live (CT), if you don’t ride a 300 people come talk to you and tell you that you need a 300. I ride a TE 125 and I love it. It turns beautifully and you can put it wherever you want. You must keep momentum and be in the right gear though, which is part of the fun. It’s kind of like a different sport really, a bit closer to downhill MTB. I would love to get a 350. I guess people would come talk to me and let me know that I need a 300 though 😅
Awesome video! I just switched from a YZ250X to a Sherco 450 SEF and absolutely love everything about it. Feels heavier in the slow stuff for sure, but that’ll just force me to be a better rider. The torque and smooth power is insanely fun though. It’ll pull from down low no problem, and with the low first gear, it’s an absolute tractor-just gas it and hang on! I’m going to have my work cut out for me on collecting the power now though. Been watching a lot of the content on that, we’ll see how it goes.
That Gas Gas is really pretty! LOL I'll have it ready for your next clinic out here. Great video Rich! I love it for fast hare scramble courses with that Coppersmith AERO fork and a 9 oz clutch weight. Fun on the MX track too!
Oh damn you were right around the corner from us in Fredericksburg!! As someone who has both a FE 350 and 501, the 350s are wonderfully snappy, but the stock tune, at least on the 21s, is just flameout central. Goofy lean. Take care of that and they're a blast. The 501 by comparison is just a chug monster. Kinda reminds me of the T7s power delivery. Just smooth chunky power that will send you to the moon if you want it. 24 for the record. I haven't had a chance to try any of the 24 350s. Wouldn't shock me if they really really fixed the bottom end. Earlier models guys have switched the ECU and rocked on, zero issues. Your notes about needing clutchwork to smooth things out on a 350 is 100% my own experience, even as a relative novice. Ditto on Braketec parts as well. Thinking retrofit to Bremmies when the time comes on my 24. Oh....and yes....THE HEAT....MY GOD.... My ECUd 350 isnt too bad, but good lord I need to do my 501. The stock 24 tune is just ball melting hot lol. Keep on ripping dude! Love the content. You should come ride at WATR sometime with us.
Rich, I may get blasted for this thought, but if you (or anyone else) were going 4-stroke, what if you did a 500 with different maps? Then you would have more to work with as you needed it? I know the 350 has more than enough to do the job, but just wanted to get you thoughts on why a 500, mapped correctly, would be "worse". Thanks brother for all you do. You've changed my dirt biking life with your videos!
I have a 23 plate FE350 and it’s my go to bike for riding the trails here in the UK. More than enough power for my level of ability and so far it’s never let me down either mechanically or with its ability. I highly recommend it 👍
The mention of the heat on a 350 compared to a 2 stroke is so true. I ride a 150xc mostly and sometimes ill ride my parents 350excf. If i go slow on a trail you can feel the heat soak through the plastics and tanks and it hits you. It kinda tells you the bike might boil in a few minutes if you didnt have fan
Amazing video man. I've been trying to decide on whether to get a 350 and 300 for a while now. This video helped out a lot. Hope to see more 4 stroke content. Maybe a 350 vs 300 video
I have a FE 350, added a 366 kit, SXF valves and cams, twisted development ECU, gave it more power in a good way everywhere and will move out on top end when you want it to, bike will lug pretty well for a 4 stroke, only issue is they can get grumpy when restarting in technical stuff, also have a 300 XC-W so yes you need one of each!
I bought as my first moto ktm 450 excf 2022. In 2024 i bought ktm exc 300 tbi and i love both of them. 2 stroke is only better for technical riding at the mountains ( on 2 stroke I am less tired than on 4 stroke)
@@IRCTireUSAMotowould love to see you test the sef300, I ride both 2t and 4t but my 300sef with the 2024 mapping loaded on to it really surprises me when I take it into some hard enduro riding. Not your typical 4 stroke 👊✊💨
I was also surprised when I got mine FE350 husky, it felt way lighter then my Sherco 2 stroke 300... It needed to be rev a bit more and it stalls easier but when I put 12t in front I could do everything as on 2 stroke. Anyway 350 is my favorite bike now, BTW in Super Enduro they use 250 exclusively for a reason.
I have a 2018 350 husqy and 2024 300 ktm (fairly fresh, onyl 2 rides on it). Both have their ups and downs. The 300 feels a lot lighter but feels a lot less snappy off idle. Have run 13-15T on the front and 13T was pretty good for slow technical stuff. My experience abouth the weight is that the 300 feels noticeably lighter in twisty stuff and is easier to ride.
you are right, the 4 strokes are for most riders what they need, the hype for the 2 stroke is overrated. Also, the 350 has much smoother torque which is way easier in the wet and roots.
Rich, you're becoming more and more like me. I use a 2022 KTM 350 excf for enduro and motorcross... but mine has 13/52 sprockets. And I don't have any "maps" on my KTM.
In a perfect world we would all have garages full of 1 of each type, size of bike. I know that's a rough maintenance bill, but it makes for happy riders.
Hey Rich, if you're serious about giving the 4T stuff a shot in the gnarly stuff, ive got a 250xc-f thats in Colorado. Give it a shot sometime, ill even drop it off trail head for ya. I think a lot of mediocre riders (myself included) work less and go faster comfortably on a 4stroke for variety riding. Totally underrated, im 6'5" and 200lbs and couldnt ask for more bike
I ha e a crf300l and that thing is so hot. Gotta stay moving. Love the videos. Have learned alot from you. I know the 300L is a heavy bike but my goal is to be able to throw it around about half as good as you can. Thanks Rich.
i switched to a 450, love the power but it will not lug at all... maybe with a 12/52 gear set up... currently 12/51 and its faster in first than a 24 300xc stock. its also stiff for XC style racing so i'll try it out in tech trails next week when i get new springs to soften her up
I ride the gasgas version EX 350f and love it now. But when I first got it I wished many times that I had gotten the 300 2-stroke for the slow technical terrain. The 350 wants to go!
I keep thinking i need to upgrade from a 250 4 stroke, and the ktm family 350 street legals sound real appealing, at only 10lb more than the off road variants, and in the northeast having a licence plate opens up a lot of places.
Here in BC Canada many people bounce back and forth between 300 2 stroke and 350 4 stroke. There's always this appeal to have the 1 you don't have. So yes, you need 1 of each! 😆
I have the ktm 350 excf so I have a license plate too. It takes a little more $$ to get it set up but its such a well rounded do anything bike for a average rider like myself. I wish I could have one of each but since I can only have one I think it's the best choice.
As a proud owner of a 350 F enduro and a 300 2t (and a 125 MX and a trials bike 😎), I can say that the 350 is the best all around dirt bike. It does it all very well. That said, and despite its amazing “tractorability”, I don’t think that for the average rider, the 350 would be the best choice if such rider only does slow technical hard enduro. The 350 requires more throttle and clutch play to avoid stalling and is more fatiguing due to its engine characteristics. Nonetheless, I doubt that anyone would be disappointed if they owned such a bike :)
I swap bikes with my buddies on rides. I strongly believe that the 350 from KTM-family are the best 4 strokes. I owned a 250XCF, and the extra 100cc is great. But for the technical riding that I do, nothing beats a 300cc Europrincess.
I've been saying this as well. A 350 is probably the best overall bike out there. It's better than a two stroke in all but the gnarliest hard enduro type riding. No question, 300 is the hard enduro king but let's be honest, what most people call "hard enduro" is just trail riding with some techy sections.
Try a ktm 500 xcf-w 2020-2022 model years. I spent some time on that ktm 500, playing on it like it was a trials bike. I instantly felt one with the bike. I ride a 260 four stroke Montesa 4rt.
Everyone who “hates” them and either ass or have never ridden one. Any skilled rider will love a 350 wether it’s the moto version or trail version. Period
@@IRCTireUSAMoto highly recommend the 390 it’s got lots of torque but still revs out great. It’s crazy how different the 350, 390, 430, and 480/500 all ride when they’re essentially identical in weight and dimensions
My wife has been riding the FE 350 S with a get ECU. Tempted by a two-stroke since I just picked up a 2024 300 XCW, maybe after watching this she'll stick with what she's got.
Watch all your videos Rich, we really enjoy your style and skill. I reached out to you through email last week about a clinic in Arizona. Working on interest.
I had a 21 Fe 350 with a remapped Ecu and running a 12 tooth sprocket it was very hard to stall. Should never of sold it. Modern 4 strokes are incredible.
Pls Mr.Rich do a content on how to maximize the 150cc bikes in enduro. Are those bikes can do most of the technic your telling us.? Fan here from the Philippines.
Great vid! Try the new honda crf250rx, you'd definitely love it too. It's lighter than your 300 2t, it also has 3 maps that really change engine's characteristics and it produces less heat than a 350 ✊
@@gpaull2 Looks like you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about -))))) 1) Honda is almost the only brand to specify the exact wet weight with no bs, unlike other brands. 2) Honda with all the liquids and full tank weighs 108kg. Ktm 300 tbi weighs 104.6 kg with no fuel (according to their spec which might be bs btw), so it would weight minimum 112kg with full tank.
I love all of these videos. Rich, I'm just getting back into riding and purchased an older Yamaha TT 230 trail bike. It's not an ideal enduro bike, but I wanted something to get back into riding in general. What would be the first thing you would do to prep the bike for this riding style before riding it?
@@IRCTireUSAMoto Thanks, Rich! Would a skid plate and handguards be the most basic additions? Is there anything else I should add to that list that you consider a must-have?
Before you go and buy a 300 or 350 try hard enduro on a 2004 KX250 with 15/46 gearing(stock is 13/49) After kickstarting it it 20+ times in a 4hour trip youll know what bike not to use 😁
Billy bolt have a 350f nd a 300 2 stroke he use both differently i think i would do the same if i had enough money 4 stroke on trail nd 2 stroke on Single track
Rich am I crazy? I recently swapped my 300xc for a 24 450 XCF-W and I feel like the only person who doesn't think this was a mistake. Techy singles and rocks have been no issue and in cases easier. True hard Enduro terrain is about 20% of my mileage and the bike has handled it all just fine so far. This video makes me feel like I maybe don't need that cat scan my friends insist I need. What do you think?
so strange this came out as i am going to do the same thing. i like the decompression on the 4t as well. i feel i am less on clutch which is a bad habit i have where i coast my 2t a lot
I just sold my '23 FX350 to get on a new '24 TX300 and while I do think the 300 is great I really think the 350 was a better bike, so I'm sure I'll be jumping back to a 350 in the next year or so..
I’ve put a little bit of time on a couple different TX’s and I have to say I’m not the biggest fan of the snappy engine. I definitely take a F350 over a TX 300 any day.

@@IRCTireUSAMoto Well I moto my bike as well and ST and dez stuff here in UT.. So I like the snap but for some reason I really prefer the long power curve on the 350.. Downside to the 350 is the complexity of the motor package, it's very hard to work on compared to a 300

I have the ktm 350 excf so I have a license plate too. It takes a little more $$ to get it set up but its such a well rounded do anything bike for a average rider like myself. I wish I could have one of each but since I can only have one I think it's the best choice.
Love that!
Awesome video my dude
As a proud owner of a 350 F enduro and a 300 2t (and a 125 MX and a trials bike 😎), I can say that the 350 is the best all around dirt bike. It does it all very well. That said, and despite its amazing “tractorability”, I don’t think that for the average rider, the 350 would be the best choice if such rider only does slow technical hard enduro. The 350 requires more throttle and clutch play to avoid stalling and is more fatiguing due to its engine characteristics.
Nonetheless, I doubt that anyone would be disappointed if they owned such a bike :)
Well said! Thanks for the support!!
Had a 350 amazing bike… now the 250 4 stroke this is the bike! Try it and you are sold! 😝
I’ve had a 250f they’re great!
I swap bikes with my buddies on rides. I strongly believe that the 350 from KTM-family are the best 4 strokes. I owned a 250XCF, and the extra 100cc is great. But for the technical riding that I do, nothing beats a 300cc Europrincess.
Was gonna get a 350. Decided on a new 250 XCW 2 stroke instead.
250 two strokes are sick
i like the 350 for more open desert riding, stuff i’m going to be more wide open. and i use the 300 for hard enduro
Period
If it wasn't for the flame outs in technical riding I'd be interested in a 350, fun bikes :-)
I definitely would chose a 350 exc if I could not have a good 200,250 or 300 two strokes with a plate.
Man I really would like to see your thoughts on the Beta 390. I really love mine
Need to try one of the beta four strokes!
@@IRCTireUSAMoto highly recommend the 390 it’s got lots of torque but still revs out great. It’s crazy how different the 350, 390, 430, and 480/500 all ride when they’re essentially identical in weight and dimensions
Agree. I got a leftover 23 390 and I’ve been riding that more than my 300 tbi.
@@Brojacksonenduro my 390 was a leftover 23 as well got a heck of a deal haha
Absolutely love that motor.
My wife has been riding the FE 350 S with a get ECU. Tempted by a two-stroke since I just picked up a 2024 300 XCW, maybe after watching this she'll stick with what she's got.
They both have their place! Thanks so much for watching!!
Great info and video. Just let us know when you are ready to go to the dark side and try some of our footpegs. You might just like em'.....
It's the two extra strokes that give it that "traction" feel. imo
More strokes! Haha!
You should try de beta 350 or the 390 Race edition
That new 300xcw HE edition in the background looks pretty awesome! Although idk about the dude riding it?!? 😂
😂 stuffed you in that corner before the matrix
😂😂Quality instruction right there!
Pls Mr.Rich do a content on how to maximize the 150cc bikes in enduro.
Are those bikes can do most of the technic your telling us.?
Fan here from the Philippines.
I’ve kinda parked my TE300 for this ‘24 WR250F. My 2S bros say I’m a turncoat….then they ride it and the ribbing stops 🤣
Great vid!
Try the new honda crf250rx, you'd definitely love it too. It's lighter than your 300 2t, it also has 3 maps that really change engine's characteristics and it produces less heat than a 350 ✊
I need to try a Japanese four stroke!
Not even on paper, which Honda is infamous for being very generous on, is the crf250rx lighter than a 300 2t. 😂
@@gpaull2 Looks like you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about -)))))
1) Honda is almost the only brand to specify the exact wet weight with no bs, unlike other brands.
I’d say protect parts and guards 👍
@@IRCTireUSAMoto Thanks, Rich! Would a skid plate and handguards be the most basic additions? Is there anything else I should add to that list that you consider a must-have?
Before you go and buy a 300 or 350 try hard enduro on a 2004 KX250 with 15/46 gearing(stock is 13/49)
After kickstarting it it 20+ times in a 4hour trip youll know what bike not to use 😁
Billy bolt have a 350f nd a 300 2 stroke he use both differently i think i would do the same if i had enough money 4 stroke on trail nd 2 stroke on Single track
Now then! Are you rocking my world…
Ha ha I won’t be getting off of the two strokes anytime soon! But I may have a 350 in the stable in the future
@@IRCTireUSAMoto I’ve been losing my sanity over 350 v 300, and then just when I thought I knew what I wanted… I’ll have to have one of each now… 😂🤣
Rich am I crazy? I recently swapped my 300xc for a 24 450 XCF-W and I feel like the only person who doesn't think this was a mistake. Techy singles and rocks have been no issue and in cases easier. True hard Enduro terrain is about 20% of my mileage and the bike has handled it all just fine so far.
This video makes me feel like I maybe don't need that cat scan my friends insist I need. What do you think?
I haven’t put a lot of time on a 450. That being said the four strokes work really well on the Singletrack !
so strange this came out as i am going to do the same thing. i like the decompression on the 4t as well. i feel i am less on clutch which is a bad habit i have where i coast my 2t a lot
Interesting input! Definitely true!

Downside to the 350 is the complexity of the motor package, it's very hard to work on compared to a 300
How is it vs the TM en 300 4t you tried a year or so ago?
A full rebuild of these 4 stroke engines costs $4-5k. They are basically disposable due to cost.
I have also been considering a 4 stroke. Wait there will be a hard enduro 4 stroke class please tell me more.
Its nice
Yes, US Hard Enduro has a four stroke class currently!
I'm looking for a new bike atm, and this is my exact dilemma... I feel the 350 is calling me...
Man it’s a tough call! Depends on your riding style!
350 exc-f here, I agree with it being a great all around bike. Good review with pros/cons. Do your classes ever get to nw PA or sw NY?
I may be coming to PA soon. Make sure to subscribe to the email list on richlarsen511.com for nearby clinics
@@IRCTireUSAMoto my local KTM/Husky dealer(Five Star Cycle, Saegertown, PA) is open to having clinics on site(200 acres of motocross track and enduro trails), as they have had them previously.

I just can’t keep em cool even with thermostat removed and fan is wired to be on full time
Would you consider reviewing the Beta 390 brother? It’s got an interesting low end power curve to it 🤔
Need to!
Beta 390 is perfection
Yes you should, and you should tell all your viewers to as well . Please stop raising the prices of 2 strokes and taking the supply .
I absolutely hate Braktec. Switched my MC to Brembo on my 2022 and love it
Yes
👍👍
I have a 300 and a 350 in the garage. Ask yourself, what would Billy Bolt do? When there is zero traction the 350 is the best.
I think Billy rides the 300 in zero reaction situations. “Every Hard enduro” although Billy does love the 350! I’d love to see him do a hard enduro on one!
@@IRCTireUSAMoto he says he likes the 4 stroke for enduroX but prefers the 300 for hard enduro. He's sort've on the next chapter compared to me. LOL
Waiting for Billy Bolt to do FIM on a 350
I rode the beta 350 exellent geometrics good power but im a husky man and will die husky i ride a 2014 te300 two stroke i wont chang my bike for anything
My question is, how do you attend a clinic? I see very little info on anything like that in my area or anywhere. Are there different levels of clinics? I’m a super noob.

Damn, wish it was in my area,
Try it.
DO IT!! 😁
😁😁
Would you every run a flywheel weight on a 350 to help with the lug / minimise stalling?
Probably on the tx or sx no on the te
@@IRCTireUSAMoto why not for the te out of interest
Nice shirt 😉
Flameout.
I love my 500 though 😊
I have a 21' 480 rr I've been considering selling because I'm not on it much. Now, however......🤔
I should test a 500!
@@IRCTireUSAMoto oh yes 👊
Try out a Stark Varg!
Hope to make that happen!
What about a 300 4 stroke???
Need to test one!
Thats basically what I tell all the novice riders in my group. If you want a 4 stroke. fe350 is best. The TE300 will do better going slower.
Sounds like you nailed it!
Nice review. Why nobody mentions the stinkiness of the 2strokes? Not to mention how carcinogen the fumes of those are.
Silver Kings last month, 300+ smokers headed out of town up the mountain was a giant cloud. It was cool to see but damn it was thick.
I’m not gonna lie man I actually love the smell! 😁😬
@@IRCTireUSAMoto wow! I absolutely hate the 2Stokes :) i have a montesa and a husq. 350, glad there are good 4strokes around. I hated when waiting at start odlf sections in the queue, and majority were 2strokes, screeaming the hell out of them, to unclog it. Glad there is a choice! All the best Rich!
Different strokes!!
