I must admit, I have not purchased an American Vehicle in over 35 years. Been watching your. Videos on the ZR2 and started looking into what Chevy offered in it and the pricing. Was blown away by the amount of options offered and the pricing. Still a bit skeptical but I decided to go look at one in person. Pictures don’t do it justice, seeing this in person convinced me, it is a BEAST! Awesome stance, almost looks like a full size truck. Loved my 22 Frontier Pro 4X but a 25 fully loaded doesn’t offer nearly the amount of options the 24 ZR2 does! I bought the White ZR2 yesterday, really impress it so far. Has to be the best value midsize on the market. And I have to admit, you sold me on considering this ZR2 hands down, thanks for your reviews and honesty!
The Colorado looks good and a good value compared to the rest of the truck market. Only have ever had one Chevy and it didn’t even make it 100K without having major repairs. I’ve been with Toyota for the past 20 plus years because they never broke down on me with minimal maintenance. Maybe it’s time to give Chevy another try since it seems like the Toyota quality on the newer models ain’t what it used to be. I like how the trail boss comes right from the factory
I bought my 2018 ZR2 exactly 7 years ago. According to the Toyota keyboard defenders, it was going to be in the shop all the time and wouldn't make it to 60k. It now has 115k with zero issues. Runs like new. The only vehicle I would replace it with is a new ZR2. Congratulations p.s. Not sure about yours, but mine cruises at 90 turning only 2200 rpm. Makes it easy to speed without noticing!
I had a Tacoma for over 11 years and I loved it. I bought a 2023 GMC Canyon AT4 over one year ago. I love everything about it. I have never had a single issue with it. I challenge anyone with a Tacoma to test drive the Canyon or the Colorado.
This was not one of your better videos. Here I am a 57-year-old man that struggles with motorcycle and truck addiction and I gotta look at that fine new truck. Great ride. I'm jealous!
I don't think there is a truck is wanted longer and didn't buy. My gladiator is amazing. But the zr2 was the truck that I've been drooling over for a year and a half.
I have a 2018 blacked out ZR2, and I cannot go anywhere without a compliment. Three women at grocery were staring at it, thought someone hit it. They said no, just admiring it. Stock tires are over 80k, and still good. No major repairs, just routine maintenance.
I have the exact same truck. Same color and everything. I just rolled over 7,000 miles and absolutely love it! I’ve owned nissan titans, jeeps and Toyotas and the 2024 Colorado zr2 is by far my favorite vehicle. You will lose track of how many compliments you will receive on that truck and especially the color. Enjoy
@ I know how she feels. I got mine in July and still get excited to get behind the wheel. We have several inches of snow coming our way over the weekend and can’t wait to go play.
I got one in harvest bronze metallic color. Love it and go driving up in the cherokee national forest btmy erwin and bristol,tn areas on most weekends. The truck is a beast. The double locking differential button make it fun to drive off road on rougher forestry and off roading trails.
I have the same truck in silver.. traded the previous gen Colorado ZR2. I agree with everything you're saying, especially having to watch the speedo... this truck is just fantastic in every way.
I have a trail boss and I love it. Super smooth and comfortable. Few sensor issues for the first month but has been solid since. Just turned over 5k mileage.
Man i plan on getting a Colorado Trail Boss in a few years because its a good looking and price entry off roader. And i love the idea of customizing it over time as money comes in. Like 17" rims and 34" tires with a 1" or 2" additional lift. I can't wait😎👍
Nice truck. I wish Chevy would have kept the naturally aspirated v-6.... I have heard a few complaints about the finicky electronics... But that's the case with all new vehicles nowadays...
I looked at every truck and every trim in the segment, and the zr2 was up there on my list. Fantastic truck and i love the color. I ended up ordering a shelter green ranger raptor which i recieved about a month ago and its been an absolute blast. It just wants to RUN and like you i find myself speeding constantly because it doesnt feel like im going that fast. For me and im sure like you, one of the first things people mention is they love the color. We are fortunate to be in a time with so many cool trucks out right now. Its a shame that "truck people" get so weird and tribal about them instead of enjoying and appreciating all the different models we get to enjoy. I think no matter which truck we buy right now for whatever reason, its a win. Enjoy!
@bryy2053 i have not been able to drive a raptor ranger yet. But I can imagine it would be the funnest truck to drive out of all trucks made today. Proportions are perfect, power is insane, suspension off the charts and capabilities that are top shelf. One day I hope there is one around me I can review and drive. Such a beast of a truck
@Jason-Samko yeah it's exceeded my expectations for sure. I really like how chevy designed the 2.7 specifically for trucks. I watched a video about the engineers explaining the design process and it was impressive. Then earlier in the week I heard one in a canyon denali right next to me, so I rolled down the window and it had a diesel type of sound to it, with the turbo whine and a buzz that sounded better than I expected. I've heard them on video many times but like I said, you gotta see these trucks in person because pics and videos do them no justice. Amazing trucks!
Congratulations Jason on your purchase. Bought me a 24 Colorado trail Boss absolutely hands down the best vehicle I have ever owned I love this truck. Got a 2020 Silverado in the garage hasn't moved in 5 months
So far 425 miles on it and my wife won't stop smiling. She passed a semi in it today (I was in the passenger seat answering comments on my phone). All of a sudden she stomped on the gas, flew by the semi laughing and smiling the whole time, got back in the right lane and said "man, I love the thing"
I just picked up a 2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2 about a month ago and it’s been great in Alaska winter! So far my biggest complaint has been just a lack of storage. Even compared to the 2022 frontier that I just came out of, it’s dismal.
I look forward to hearing about this one, I appreciate your honesty. I will be 62 next month so I’m looking for something that will last me for many years.
I ended up getting the 24 Tacoma TRD Sport after looking and driving the Colorado LT , it was beautiful but wasn’t for me. Glad that you guys love yours!
Everyone i know that owns a 24 tacoma loves it! They love the power, the way it drives and seating position, etc. I have not met someone with one thst has a compaint.
I love my Colorado, ZR2 as well! What I really love is that I have 3500 miles on mine and I’m sure Jason will put his through the paces and pile on the miles faster than I will so I will get to watch his journey and I’m really looking forward to all his future reviews about this vehicle. In my opinion, there’s not a better midsize truck on the market. And I have owned two Tacoma‘s. This thing makes them feel like cheap junk.
First: those ZR2 wheels are very nice looking. I'll be looking forward to seeing what bed cover you get as I'm shopping for one too. Finally - it is an easy oil change. I wrapped the crossmember and sway bar with plastic wrap first as that oil really gushes out and will get onto those areas underneath. Walmart stocks the OE oil filter (PF66) for around $8.
@@Jason-Samko I've had the rollup ones before. They're fine until the velcro wears out and I'm constantly smoothing it down to keep it tight. The Revolver hard roll-up looks interesting though. I'm probably going to get a hard tri-fold this time.
@jedwin4816 have ran the roll ups on my last 3 trucks. All I will ever buy. And the cheap ones are fantastic 120-180 bucks and pure flawless. But there are other great options and definitely more expensive ones.
I have a 23 Z71, overall a great truck but make sure you shut off the automatic over the air updates. Make sure it has to ask to run them or you will end up with a dead battery one day. I use the truck everyday commuting to work and for hunting and light towing. I have 25,000 miles on mine and have had zero issues less one dead battery early on from the over the air updates. Change oil every 5k. Averaging 21 mpg overall with the HO tune from GM. I agree with your wife it’s a cool color and hope you both enjoy the truck. I think the Colorado and the Ranger with a 2.7 are great mid size options for those not need ing a full size truck. Plus mine fits in the garage during our crappy winter weather here in the North.
I have the Amp electric automatic steps on my Ram 1500 Laramie 4x4 and I love them. Makes it so easy to get in and out and they are sturdy. I'm 6"3" 350 and if they can hold up to me getting in and out they can hold up to anyone. My mom uses a walker and without the Amp steps she couldn't get in and out. Try some, maybe get Amp to sponsor a vid so you can check them out. I bet you and your Mrs. Would love them.
Another great video and I agree with you 100%. I had a 2019 Toyota 4Runner Limited in Blizzard White Pearl, I got T-Boned on the way to work back in march of this year, still healing but my next vehicle will definitely be a Chevy Colorado ZR2.
Here's the thing Jason, many people are like you where they don't keep a vehicle for long these days. Or they trade it in right before the warranty is up. But, many of us don't operate like that. I can tell you firsthand that I was a Chevy guy for many, many years. I literally had said that I would never own anything but a Z71 Silverado for probably the rest of my life. However, what I noticed was that every new, as in new to me, Chevy I would get would have more issues sooner than the one before it. Transmission failure, lifter problems and then just rattles in the dash. I switched to Toyota a few years back after driving a few older Tundras that had no mechanical issues or interior rattles with many miles. I am currently on my third Tundra and also have a 4Runner. The point I'm making is would you buy the same vehicles if you were planning to keep them for a long time, maybe even as long as possible? If I had to guess I would think you would not. One of my friends still buys Chevys and doesn't keep them long and he still has some pretty major issues with them. His 2024 GMC Denali just left him stranded and without a truck for a week while it was in the shop. That 4Runner you own will most likely still be going strong 10 years from now, the Chevy, I would have my doubts, especially being a turbo motor. I like the truck, congratulations on your purchase, but I don't think I personally would take the risk with a Chevy these days and I was a big fan. I'd be happy if I'm proven wrong, I'd like to see Chevy back to what they once were in my opinion.
Congrats Tina! Amiright? Enjoy it Jason, I watch a lot of your videos. Thanks for the knowledge and insights. Can’t buy till Feb 😅 we’ll see what’s around then
Love that ZR2 !!!! Congrats on the purchase! Have a Silverado 2500 work truck and found something missing…. Does the ZR2 have a transmission dipstick? Was dumbfounded that Chevy did away with it … on the 2500 gasser.
I owned a 2019 4Runner TRD off road bought it brand new…Just didn’t do it for me. People also think I’m nuts for getting rid of things when I do and what I buy… buy and drives what makes you happy life is short 👍🏻. Good luck with the new truck sweet ride
Just traded in a full size 2019 Trailboss for a new ZR2, was a bit awkward getting into until I put on the OEM GM side steps (unfortunatly they were made in China...) I miss the huge space of the full size Trailboss, but this little ZR2 is much more fun to drive & park. And yes smoothe as butter!
The ZR2 is a nice truck for sure. For how long is my only concern. However, you get rid of your vehicles within 5 years so long term reliability isn't really a concern for you and makes sense for your YT channel. I'm long term with all my vehicles so I'll keep my 2020 Tacoma my usual 14-16 years.
I’ll admit it my grandpa my dad and I am a Ford guy, but right now GM blowing Ford out of the water in styling and as good as the Silverado looks, the Colorado might be the best looking truck made, they just look like a come to life Tonka pickup. After all that said the Aluminum body is a big reason I’d still get a F150, so many 5 and 6 year old GM’s and RAM’s around here with beds eaten up with rust.
Just like my ranger raptor and same for this truck and atx4, no pictures and any angle does the perportions any justice. You gotta see them in person and drive them
They don't realize the gladiator is a tank off road other manufacturers don't like doing comparisons to it especially off road & there's a reason for that
Everyone has different opinions based on their experiences, needs and preferences. I sold my Duramax at one point and it was the worst thing I ever did. It took a while for me to find and get back into another Duramax. It's just perfect for me. I'm not bold or arrogant enough to tell anyone what they should own. Personal choice.
I would love to see you do a direct comparison between Tina's ZR2 and the new Fully loaded TRD OR Tacoma. They are around the same msrp and it would be great to watch you compare the two head to head dollar for dollar. PS. I know you normally don't do drives on many vehicles but with this comparison it would be great if possible.
Love your zr2, I’m look at new trucks and have narrowed it down to a Colorado trail boss or a Nissan frontier pro4x ( close to the same price ) which would you suggest
I'm getting mine hopefully very soon... It's been in transit for like 3 weeks now... I put down a deposit to make sure nobody beats me to it... I'm curious about the running boards. I can't make out the name. Can you please tell me who makes em?
On my 2024 Colorado zr2 i reolacedthe stock Goodyear territory multi terrain size 285/70R18 tures ( 32.7" tall) and put on bfgoodrich all terrain ko2 tires in size 285/75R18 which are 34.1"tall.
Just curious what your thoughts are on the Bison package. My next truck will be a Colorado. I really want the Bison but thought about just getting the ZR2 to save money.
@Jason-Samko At 1000 miles you’ll learn to be careful when changing oil. You should use a funnel with a large opening at the bottom positioned over a pan. The drain plug opening allows the oil to flow freely and the funnel slows the flow enough to prevent a mess. I’d also recommend using a tarp on the ground. I have the 2.7 liter trail boss 1500 big brother (same color)
Thank you for the info. I use a huge oil catch pan. I bought it a few years ago. Biggest one i could find really helps keep everything in the pan. But will heed your warning and make sure I take extra precautions to make sure until I see how it flows. Thank you
@ The funnel is to direct the flow down instead of 5’ to the rear of the truck but also to keep the splashing to a minimum. The funnel opening is about 3/4” ID. I just cut mine down to size. Then, I have plenty of paper towels ready. Tarp helps mitigate spills.
@michaeljordan6090 gladiator back sest is a little more room due to the less room in the front seats and the flat vertical dash layout. But I think the ride comfort in the back would be better in the colorado. It's a toss up either way. I will show these details and some measurements in a upcoming video you just convinced me to make
Are you gonna do a head to head comparison with the gladiator? I’m strongly considering trading in my 23 trd taco for either a zr2 or gladiator rubicon
By the way, I'm not criticizing your choices. More power to you. Long-term quality is something that matters to me because I keep them a long time. The Toyota is peerless in that regard
I just talked to a guy yesterday that bought on of the first year ones he has had it to the dealer 6 times on the electrical stuff he is trying to get gm to buy it Back he kinda likes the truck but it’s just has not been a reliable vehicle for him
The way I see it, sure it’s nice having a Toyota and knowing that it’s going to last a long time, but if you don’t enjoy it or enjoy driving it then what’s the point of having that vehicle forever?
I have owned Toyota trucks since 98 and they all have been great but no doubt your Chevy is a very nice looking truck and that undercarriage looks really nice and beefy I may consider one I wonder if they have a 6 foot bed two door I like to haul dirt bikes
This guy comments the same thing on every video. Why are you watching? This truck has 310hp/430lb-ft, front/rear lockers, awesome suspension, great towing and payload, perfectly comfortable in extreme terrain or daily driving in the city. Will cruise down the highway at 80+ barely touching the gas, and has every creature comfort you could want, all for ~$50k. In what world is this too expensive? If you think it is, you are not a serious person, and living in a fantasy world.
@@Holden-McGroin that truck should be $30k tops and that’s pushing it. Let me explain from an old person point of view. These $90k trucks young people are buying will be $700,000 when they get to be my age. That’s how I view today’s truck prices. I can’t un-see a Toyota extra cab truck that out the door was $4,500.00 and it got better gas mileage. If you inflation index the same money the truck should $15k. Not $50k
Toyotas are a pain in the azz to do maintenance on. Love doing maintenance under my HD truck… can sit Indian style underneath and they actually put stuff in locations that make it easy! Toyota sucks!

I love that truck. I think it’s a awesome decision. I’ve been around vehicles forever.
Thank you
You’re welcome
Congrats Tina! Amiright? Enjoy it Jason, I watch a lot of your videos. Thanks for the knowledge and insights. Can’t buy till Feb 😅 we’ll see what’s around then
@@dangerfield85 i bet there will still be some deals then, just harder to find. But will be there
Love that ZR2 !!!! Congrats on the purchase! Have a Silverado 2500 work truck and found something missing…. Does the ZR2 have a transmission dipstick? Was dumbfounded that Chevy did away with it … on the 2500 gasser.
Have not checked the oil yet. Only had it 4 days. But will be checking tomorrow to see now
Do what you wish to do, nobody is responsible for your purchase but yourself 🎉

I really like the new Colorado. I hope the aftermarket expands for it as time goes on.
Agree
I owned a 2019 4Runner TRD off road bought it brand new…Just didn’t do it for me. People also think I’m nuts for getting rid of things when I do and what I buy… buy and drives what makes you happy life is short 👍🏻. Good luck with the new truck sweet ride
Agree 100%
Just traded in a full size 2019 Trailboss for a new ZR2, was a bit awkward getting into until I put on the OEM GM side steps (unfortunatly they were made in China...) I miss the huge space of the full size Trailboss, but this little ZR2 is much more fun to drive & park. And yes smoothe as butter!
@travisdemers3660 congratulations on your new zr2!
I have a Taco 2023 blacked out PRO and love it :) .. i say to each their own.
Sweet truck, love the color. Thanks for the video!
Thank you
I’ll admit it my grandpa my dad and I am a Ford guy, but right now GM blowing Ford out of the water in styling and as good as the Silverado looks, the Colorado might be the best looking truck made, they just look like a come to life Tonka pickup. After all that said the Aluminum body is a big reason I’d still get a F150, so many 5 and 6 year old GM’s and RAM’s around here with beds eaten up with rust.
Excellent review, Jason. Thank you. 👍🏻
Thanks
Just like my ranger raptor and same for this truck and atx4, no pictures and any angle does the perportions any justice. You gotta see them in person and drive them
@@bryy2053 agree.
They don't realize the gladiator is a tank off road other manufacturers don't like doing comparisons to it especially off road & there's a reason for that
I love my gladiator one of the best vehicles I ever owned and I owned hundreds of them
@@marksullivan8200 agree 100
I put some Rain-X on the trail cams 😂. Their sprayers work great, but without going fast, the water didn't roll off the cam.
Great tip
Good choice Jason and most of all happy hour wife loves it most of all enjoy looking forward to future videos
@@MrRockyko thank you. We love the new truck
@ 🙏🏻👏🏻👍
Nice little truck. Stupid expensive.
@@FREEDOM-bk4rv compared to what?
Relative to the capabilities of the truck it's not. A comparable truck loaded out after market is going to cost you way north of 50k.
I love my 2024 Colorado ZR2. The only 2 things that I don't care for are no locking gas cap or door. Also It cost me $4900 to plate it in my state.
What state?
Thanks for the review! ❤
love that 4runner has no moonroof and cloth
We had to search really hard to find one that way
Everyone has different opinions based on their experiences, needs and preferences.

Maybe can make that happen
Love the truck I just got a 2024 ZR2 also and was wondering what octane of gas do you put in it?
im running standard 87
Love your zr2, I’m look at new trucks and have narrowed it down to a Colorado trail boss or a Nissan frontier pro4x ( close to the same price ) which would you suggest
Both amazing trucks. Drive both and see what you like best
Great looking truck enjoy!!
Thanks
I'm getting mine hopefully very soon... It's been in transit for like 3 weeks now... I put down a deposit to make sure nobody beats me to it... I'm curious about the running boards. I can't make out the name. Can you please tell me who makes em?

On my 2024 Colorado zr2 i reolacedthe stock Goodyear territory multi terrain size 285/70R18 tures ( 32.7" tall) and put on bfgoodrich all terrain ko2 tires in size 285/75R18 which are 34.1"tall.
Perfect. I will probably do the same when these wear out.
I’ve been looking for sidesteps and those look pretty good, what brand are they? Thanks

Sounds like you're making this more your truck than Tina's.
by adding the steps she asked for and the bed cover? when its mine, you will know it. 34s, ditch lights, winch, etc.
Love the ZR2
You should do a comparison review of the seats in the Colorado vs the Gladiator.

“Look at the size of this truck”…. Says the guy who’s shorter than my wife!! Hahaha great video great truck !! Don’t hate me for picking on you. 😊
Yeah I have a daughter that is 5ft and just turned 9 I don’t think she would fit in backseat behind me
Love being a short guy. 5'6 is the perfect height in my opinion 😂
Just curious what your thoughts are on the Bison package. My next truck will be a Colorado. I really want the Bison but thought about just getting the ZR2 to save money.
bison is an amazing beast. But the cost difference and the 35s being to big to store under the truck made me want the zr2.
It’s a beautiful truck
Thank you
@Jason-Samko
At 1000 miles you’ll learn to be careful when changing oil.
Thank you
@
The funnel is to direct the flow down instead of 5’ to the rear of the truck but also to keep the splashing to a minimum. The funnel opening is about 3/4” ID. I just cut mine down to size. Then, I have plenty of paper towels ready. Tarp helps mitigate spills.
pretty soon you're gonna have a car for everyday of the week. what's the main difference between the zr2 and zr2 bison btw?
The bison has 35 inch tires and all aev skidplates bumpers and armor
I had a gladiator Mohave love everything but the ride comfort. Is the back seat room on par with the gladiator?I like the deeper bed on the Colorado
@michaeljordan6090 gladiator back sest is a little more room due to the less room in the front seats and the flat vertical dash layout. But I think the ride comfort in the back would be better in the colorado. It's a toss up either way. I will show these details and some measurements in a upcoming video you just convinced me to make
@ thank you, my friend owns a Chevy dealership and has a black zr2 on the lot I may look at it
Is there a difference in the ride between this and z71 shopping between the top two trims
Never drove a z71
I love mine !!!
@@dwankers awesome truck
Are you gonna do a head to head comparison with the gladiator? I’m strongly considering trading in my 23 trd taco for either a zr2 or gladiator rubicon
I am as soon as I have enough miles in the zr2 the be honest about it
ZR2 i think is a great choice!!!!!!!
@@151engine thanks. We are really happy

@151engine congratulations on an amazing truck
Hope you give the misses a good dickin in that beautiful Colorado my friend. Congratulations

Ya might want to ceracoat the wheels it definitely won't hurt
Only question is, can the seatbelt dinger, and horn chirp be disabled in the Chevy? Don’t need it spooking deer.
i dont think it can or have not figured out how to yet on the seat belt. The horn chirp I think you can turn off in the settings meanu.
Let's see what they're like over time. Almost 200k on the 4Runner. Wear items (brakes) and one coil pack. That's it.
By the way, I'm not criticizing your choices. More power to you. Long-term quality is something that matters to me because I keep them a long time. The Toyota is peerless in that regard
200k on your 4 runner is bare half it's life. Lots of miles left
Double door seal looks like it’s for water boarding protection.
Hi sir. Are the side steps about a 4 inch drop? Thank you for your time.

Whats difference between this and at4x version
@cryptopimp5855 not much. Both same platform and capabilities etc. The canyon has a little more class to it
@Jason-Samko ah nice...thanks man...i want to get a truck just not sure what kind
These trucks are nice coming from a 2019 canyon Denali but there very small backseat is useless and for the money always better value going full size
I have a question. Do you think the ZR2 is mild or is it a BEAST?🤣
I like it almost as much as I like the word "beast"😂😂
I just talked to a guy yesterday that bought on of the first year ones he has had it to the dealer 6 times on the electrical stuff he is trying to get gm to buy it Back he kinda likes the truck but it’s just has not been a reliable vehicle for him
Transmitting on HAM frequencies from my Tacoma right now! No license. 😆
The way I see it, sure it’s nice having a Toyota and knowing that it’s going to last a long time, but if you don’t enjoy it or enjoy driving it then what’s the point of having that vehicle forever?
Agree
I have owned Toyota trucks since 98 and they all have been great but no doubt your Chevy is a very nice looking truck and that undercarriage looks really nice and beefy I may consider one I wonder if they have a 6 foot bed two door I like to haul dirt bikes
That 2.7L has cylinder deactivation ….. it drops down to two cylinders…… I’d worry about the longevity
Chevy has always been better than Toyota👍. Toyota can’t even make there own sports cars hence a BMW lol
Sorry backseats are to small for price. I would want it big enough to fit 2 kids or teenagers in back.
Zr2 over ranger raptor ehhh
Depends on your wants.
Top gog. ZR2. But no power seat passenger side what a jak😮😮😮
First impression: Too expensive.
Compared to what
1. Compared to what?
2. You mean the sticker price or what he actually paid for it?
Not $50k
@@lawrencefranck9417man you are on some strong drugs😂😂

Good thing I don't need a truck for work. Actually I do. I make a living driving thru the swamps all week.

Toyotas are a pain in the azz to do maintenance on. Love doing maintenance under my HD truck… can sit Indian style underneath and they actually put stuff in locations that make it easy! Toyota sucks!
