    For me i am fortunate enough to be able to afford 2 setups. My preferred one is my transition/curb set up. Its a size 9 with wide LOOSE trucks, soft red bushings, size 56 99 durometer conicals and deck rails. My second is my tech/ledge set up. Size 8.325, TIGHT trucks, hard bushings, size 54 101 durometer conicals.
    I want to get a 3rd setup that is a hybrid in between the setups but sadly i am not yet fortunate enough to own 3 setups yet.

    LMAO. Just my 2 cent but going down to 8.5 is good, but like Ben D says the trucks are the "tools" of skating if you really want to do street tech flip tricks skating you should get some Venture, if you ride tight trucks, or Thunders, which in your case you ride loose trucks as evident, both are much more stable and much lighter than all the other major truck brands and are the best for tech flip skating due to the stability and less turning as "tools" of skateboarding.. and you're better off also using something like SFF4 classics 53mm or smaller would help with flip tricks as well.

    I feel like body posture is a big difference between styles, im a tall dude at 6'4 and huge part of getting better at street whas keeping my back straight and not leaning into flip tricks while trying to watch the board action. As opposed to skating miniramps and pipes where your inertia kinda forces you into leaning over a lot more . Congrats on the fakie tre flip . Food for thought.

  • @tylerstewartmedia
    @tylerstewartmedia 7 місяців тому +2

    This was rad. I'm going through the same thing right now, actually. I used to skate an 8.0 for the longest time, then about 6-8 years ago stepped up to an 8.25. Around 2020 I went up to an 8.5 and was loving that. I ended up setting up a 8.75 for transition, slappys, and filming (just swap the wheels out depending on what I'm doing). I haven't been skating as much this last year and realized the 8.5 was a little too big for flip tricks - which I mainly stick to. So, I went back to 8.25 about 2 months ago and i feel like it's a little small but I notice I can 360 flip more consistently again. I know wheelbase has a lot to do with it so I might even try an 8.5 with a 14" wheelbase and twin tail so it's shorter overall which should help rotate the board easier. I also agree with you about the wider board making it feel more stable. I can still slappy with the 8.25 so it's all a preference, but a little annoying having 3 set ups in my car haha.

    My first board was an 8.5, recommendation of the shop. After a while, I went down to an 8.25 as I was convinced that my Ollie’s weren’t as high because of the weight and size of the board. After a few months of the 8.25, I finally went back up and realized it wasn’t the weight and was way more stable on the 8.5. Been skating 8.5 ever since and I do everything with that, from transition, street, or commuting to class.

    I have been skating a 8.5 since I restarted skating with my old 149 stage 8 independent. And just this days went back to my older deck 8.0 consolidated and for me now its much easier. The thing is its lighter and for my age you need less strength. Once you start switching things it gets too complicated. Now I bought thunder trucks to try and we will see what it comes from it…. Young dude’s skate with anything…. I think its a question of older people to swtich things or many setups because we have more resources… but great vid!

Don't bother with that David's back in the UK hype, while I'm on the other side turn. Landed or not I guess Scotland was as cold as the Freedom Tower in the winter winds. As a dude who’s 6’4 180ish, Anything below a 9.0’ is a child’s toy. Heroins 9.5 symetrical Egg is the best shape for skating a bigger board without compromising your tricks. The bigger board allows me to really slow down my flip tricks and catch them comfortably, gives my big feet more room to stay on the board and not do “smith” stalls in transition while secretly using my heel to stand and balance on the coping. Where’s all my eggheads out there?!?!

  • @AndySo2000
    @AndySo2000 7 місяців тому

    Flip tricks were invented on a set of tight tight trucks. In the early 90s everyone rode really tight trucks, I think your trucks are too loose. I know its the trend currently to skate loose trucks and I do as well. But the wobble you get right before you pop is whats throwing you off. Rodney mullen didn't invent street but have you ever seen him turn, no, its because his trucks are insanely tight. I think you mentioned tight trucks and what i'm saying in that kickflip video.
