Agreed. Unfortunately that's common in a lot of bands as bassists are typically in the background and never really get a moment to shine. Bass solos are a rare breed now a days unless you actively seek out groups that do that sort of stuff.
@@goyara why are you listening to Polyphia if you like bass more than guitar, they are literally about innovating what the guitar can bring to music lol I love bass but there isn’t anything new going on with the bass it’s just good bass playing
@@arthur38379 Dude, the bassline of this song is just amazing, the perfect mix of simplicity and beauty, if I want to listen to some interesting guitar lines, I'll listen to songs from Animals as Leaders or Jason Richardson’s albums

@@mrchristian0457 me too, that’s why I commented here. I’ve toured nationally with music ensembles and I hate when people tell me I’m talented or my skills are a gift from god. No, I was absolutely terrible when I started. I had very little, if any natural talent. But I practiced hours every day for years.
I came here just to hear what kind of music they make. I was watching an review on an mp3 player. This guy had an album cover of this group on the screen of the mp3 player. I got curious. Great song I did a tumbs up.
The video is exquisite, as well. It's so well choreographed showing the stages or the ballerinas struggles and self-doubt. An then when she vomits the blood it's as if you realize all of the stress and demands have created a living nightmare. The video is just as perfect, if not more perfect, than the song.
that transition from dream to nightmare right at 2:53 gets me every time. i can't stop listening to this song. and that pinch harmonic! god, this band...
To the dancer for the video. Yoh are elegant. Thank you for your dedication to your art as well. The band is wonderful, but you made the video beautiful
Somehow this still might be my favorite song. It's not the most technical or whatever, but its just perfect. I could listen to this for years on end without getting sick of it.
Never heard someone make a pick sound so much like a slap in my life…. Being a bassist myself, this guy is opening my eyes to different sounds and techniques… as so many people have already stated, this group of amazing musicians is so underrated….willing to bet their time to dominate and shine will soon arrive … :cheers
Their best piece ever. It's just on a different level. The riffs fit so well together, and the tapping portion at 2:20 followed by that transition at 2:52 is just...ooof, perfect.
It's amazing how much this band has changed it's persona from these days. People love to hate and they definetly capitalized on that while improving and honing the style they already had.
Just imagine if they would stop after this, after not getting enough attention. Im proud of they posterior work and the most hated and NLND takes me to another "intelectual" levels yeah. But Nightmare, Ivory, Light, Euphoria. Renaissance will always be the Heart of Polyphia
Sharing the shit out of you guys to anyone who'll pay attention. 40 years old here, first act that has really turned my head as doing something both technically amazing but also so distinct and unique sounding in probably this century. Top marks.
This is SICK! Y'all are Hella Sick.. and I'm sick to death that I have only recently discovered all this power and passion . Thank you for blessing my life.
Just heard this band for the first time last Friday. Oh man Nightmare is the best. I can’t stop listening to this. I listen to this song 5-7 times a day. A musical masterpiece 😎🤘🤙
How have these guys NOT taken over the anime closing universe!!?!?! Jesus! The feelings this song brings! It reminds me of that moment you're in a beautifully vivid dream and realise it's just about to end. But, you don't want it to end. You don't want to leave that moment. It hurts because you're well aware that now that you know it's a dream it has to end. So, you savour the sadness. It takes like a lime. Makes your face crinkle in pain yet you can't help but look back at it and enjoy the memory. That is the "dream." The "nightmare" is the subconscious recognition that you most likely won't be able to remember it. That you'll leave that world and rejoin yours. No souvenirs, postcards or recollection of it all. It's the sad attempt you make at trying to fall asleep again to get back. But, you can't go back. You never go back. That world is lost, you've fallen from it. If you'd read all of this; then my hat's off to you. If you relate, well; hello friend! Here's to your world, cheers.
I've been into fusion music since the beginning. THIS- is modern fusion and the future looks bright. If you were listening to Brand X, Holdsworth, Gong, Zappa, McLaughlin, RTF the last 45 years...then you just found a new home.
Im the guy running through the streets of Nashville in my truck with my radio maxed out blaring Polyphia on my way to work, from work, and on lunch. Seems like I'm constantly chasing people away from me. Lol. They must be country fans.
I love their music and swag. Seriously go buy their merch. I have received more compliments from the shirts I bought 2 years ago then I have from the new Polo Ralph Lauren shirts I bought. Protect and support your favorite bands.
These guys treat the fretboard like a lover.
The future of music is in good hands.
god hands
I thought the same thing!
How come this be so underrated? This is pure injustice.
One of my favorite Polyphia tracks for sure if not my all time lol
The bassist is so underrated...

You are lucky since in some Polyphia song, the bassist has his own line like in Crush or Nightmare song.

best bassline and bassist in the WORLD!!!!!!!!!! so perfect the slaps the pauses not overpowering the simpleness. . absolutely perfect man
I love his timing, the placement of every note accommodates the drums perfectly and creates a beautiful rhythm for the guitars to ride.
Yeah, it is about as close to perfection as possible. The timing... damn
Just wanted to let all of you know this song changed my life drastically for the better. A Massive Thank You to all involved.
Good to know.
You'll do better too bruh.👍🏻👍🏻
Well that’s amazing to hear! Been listening to these guys for almost a decade and they’ve beyond talented and seem like great dudes as well

That part, is the reason I keep coming to this song man...
That part gives me goosebumps every. single. time!!!

The writer and director or this music video deserves so much credit. It's so artistic and perfect
Black swan vibes
It blows my mind that one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite bands only has 100k views.
Added 600k more in the last year. Dudes are on the comeup.
1 million, Jan 2023
Still, one of the best overall songs I've heard. Their new single Neurotic is kind of a throwback to Renaissance, imo.
i love renaissance man, would actually listen to it over nlnd on most days lel(not to say i dislike nlnd, its a masterpiece in its own right)
Damn that’s a great melody and the sync is on point!
Listening to this after or before Amour is the best thing ever.
I’m glad somebody else caught on. Haha. Personally, I listen to it before Amour. It fits better.
The fact that there's still only 190 dislikes after 7 years is a testament to how good Polyphia really is.
I'm now religious because there is no way they can make these song without having sold their souls. Phenomenal.
There's so much meaning behind this that people don't see. As a musician this made me cry.
Why don't more people fw this band. There all excellent musicians

Coming back to this video after 4 years now to say I still love this song to death and each note pulls at my heart strings every time.
The bass parts of this song are so good as well. An amazing early example of Clay's exceptional talent. Such a smart player.

To the dancer for the video.
Yoh are elegant. Thank you for your dedication to your art as well. The band is wonderful, but you made the video beautiful

2025 and this song still grooves like it was just released.
