The way Tosin is dressed as the Principal is just the way I feel like he dresses in his everyday life. Like to go grocery shopping. Classiest guitar player alive.
It amazes me just how relaxed Tosin’s fretting hand seems even while playing such complex expressions. Only time my hands get that relaxed while playing is at the beginning of “Nothing Else Matters”. That must be at least part of why I suck...
Imagine some science fiction dungeon crawling game with various djent artists for the soundtrack. This is like the normal moving around one. If combat hits then it switches to something like Periphery. In a cutscene, invoking feelings of wonder would be easy with a band like ERRA. Feelings of intensity? Architects, Thornhill, Northlane. Want some horror? Loathe or Polaris would do the trick. So many possibilities...
I think Polyphia would win that contest. They actually have interesting hooks and playing. This sounds like less impressive song from An endless sporadic.
I can only imagine and hope that some of those kids learn how to play this type of instrumental music when they get older. Way to go Animals As Leaders, you surrounded kids with this sort of technical musicality and showed them it's more than just notes, it's an emotion.
Man, how am I just learning about this group? By chance I was just surfing through UA-cam and saw their live set...they are really amazing! Really amazing! Planning on getting all of their material.
the part at 2:55 is ridiculously good. I have been playing and recording guitar for 10 years and I have absolutely no clue what is being played there either.
I get really bad anxiety. Then I found Animals As Leaders. When ever I get really anxious, I put my headphones in and play them. It may sound kind of crazy, but their music calms me down. I’m so thankful for finding out about them. Thanks, AAS, for your wonderful, beautiful music.

The Greatest Multicultural Djent Band ever. I think Tosin means as much to this generation as Yngwie meant to the 80s generation or Petrucci to the 90s generation or Jimmy Hendrix in the 60s. .
+Filip Pandrc It's just that djent is generally so unoriginal that most prog fans dislike bands that barely fit into the definition to be asociated with "djent". Yeah, it has polyrythms and polywhatever shit, but it doesn't have any of the unoriginal, and frankly, annoying discrepancies of the clean, screamed, and auto-tune vocals, along with those boring-ass riffs. Tesserac and Periphery are a-ok, seeing how they invented the sound, but all the low-quality copy-cats really dominate the "genere". For my part, I'd like to pretend that those bands don't exist, so Tesseract and Periphery are some Meshuggah-influenced mathcore bands. It's not the djent community rejecting AAL, it's the prog comunity rejecting the djent label.
I'm not ashamed to say: I only met this wonder in 2022 and on the recommendation of a Russian who told me about prog metal and djent ...the sound of these guys is incredible, JM Jarre with Satriani, Fripp with Steve Howe....I became a fan instant
The average person doesn't know the amount of musicianship that goes into this type of music. I've been a drummer for almost 40 years now and I really dig guitarists that let the drummer lose and let the drummer's individualism come out. Kudos to this band!!
wira aditama It's funny you ask... you see, I've always dreamed of there being an all-female Animals As Leaders tribute band that dresses in cheerleader outfits and goes by the name of "Animals As Cheerleaders". Until this dream becomes a reality, this video is the next best thing
Usually you hear a band with all instrumentals like Angel Vivaldi and you're like "needs vocals." But this... this is just perfect. Unless they can find a vocalist as talented as them, who can match what the lead guitarist does, they should stay this way. But, can someone explain to me how this is Djent? I might be ignorant but djent is slower and contains a lot of power cords 'chopped up' in the studio. And this is mostly just jazzy riffing
Well, djent was born as a metal subgenre but during the years i think it started to became a whole genre on its own. Now djent has basically a lot of different subgenres, depending on the band style. Animals as leaders are more kind of progressive, Veil of Maya is more likely metalcore. I don't know, it's actually a bit confusing how djent works😅😅😅
Their main genre isn’t djent, it’s prog. Although it has elements of djent, like playing on a (I think) 8 string guitar. This is a bad example but they do also have some songs with a lot of 0s and 1s so obviously it’s not meshugga djent but it is a type of djent
Found this song on Spotify and just from listening to it, I could tell that it had a deep story behind, tho it’s kinda funny how they portrayed it. It’s an awesome video you guys and even better musicianship. You are all very blessed. Keep doing what y’all doing
This is totally my new favourite video clip, just that ending with Cheerleaders and kids dancing to AAL and actually digging it lol, so far from their demographic, but such a great clip
You would think AAL is mostly for music nerds etc - but out of all the shows I've been to (a lot) the absolute craziest crowd was the AAL crowd, specifically during this song. People were going absolutely nuts and the floor was noticeably moving up and down a few inches in time with the beat. It was nuts, I couldn't believe it.
+Matt M Yeah bro. I just saw them in melbourne this week. After plini finished and AAL came on the whole place just came alive, it was incredible. My neck is still sore
Anyone else notice that during a lot of the aerial shots of the band, Matt isn't playing the same cymbal in the video as during the song? 1:35 and 3:35 for example I hear the stack but he's whaling on a crash.
Daniel Calderon well, he plays some pretty complex patterns.. hence giving the editor some hard time editing it and in the end the editor didnt give a damn.
