This is excellent, I’m subscribing. :) I bought this ages ago but didn’t have more than a quick look because it needed much more time in the oven. Now I’m revisiting and this series is exactly what I need to help me grasp those basics. Thank’s.
Yeah I love Stoneshard so much that I stopped playing it until there is a lot more common tent as I don’t want to burn myself out before the game is finished as I have with so many other games... Stoneshard has a special place
Just go back to town every time you make even the most minor progress! Yeah idk why "sleeping" had to be the save system. Maybe to prevent softlocks? But I don't see the issue with like a save at the end of each floor/zone & the game saves the 3-4 most recent
@@DrIncompetent I'll be honest I was sifting through the gameplay vids on here because it looks like something I'd enjoy, yours are the most informative, so thanks for putting the effort into explaining all the systems and functions. I'm most likely gonna go grab it on the steam sale :)
Thanks for the help Dr. Incompetent...I have started a few games of this so far and I am never able to last long enough to level up. I always end up dying to the first few fights I get into, very frustrating.
You are welcome my friend! I will be doing combat soon so you can get some more tips--you can certainly die right away in this... it can be very frustrating!
I've struggled so much with this game, I actually was on the brink of asking for a refund. But I kept trying and also with the help of your tutorial videos I've finally managed to complete some missions. :) This is a great game, however not for everyone. Which is completely fine. :)
Awesome! It feels so good when you can make some progress. I agree--the game isn't for everyone because it can go so badly so fast haha. Things can turn in a heartbeat, but once you get some traction it really feels satisfying :)
I've got a total noob question: when selecting skills (0:30 ish), some that you weren't trained in (eg axes) you could click on and see the locked tree on the right. Others (like wands) appeared to be un-selectable, so I'm wondering why they are treated differently?
I'd say it's 90% for the start of the game, then less at the end as that has changed the most. The beginning has a more densely populated map and some light crafting systems, but the combat, controls, and most of the systems are all the same!
@@DrIncompetentthank you! Looking forward to watching the whole beginners guide series! I have definitely been struggling to understand what skills to go for.
IIRC it stays there and you can go and get it. You may have to pay for the room for it to not be "stealing" but I don't think you do. Can anyone please verify this? Thank you!
The thing that makes my laugh the most is the hate on the forums about the save system ... I think for traditional rouge-like save on exit is all that’s needed... a lot of hate about just saving at inns and on exit... they always compare it to dark souls for some strange reason ...
Haha, I know! And plus, all that hate was maybe from way back, before the save system got fixed. At this point, I have no issues with it at all--it's just like any other roguelike with save on exit? fine by me haha
@@DrIncompetent yeah well people think they should be able to save outside of each dungeon or hard fight and then use dark souls as an example... now the big thing to complain about is not being able to make a custom character yet... they buy an early access game expecting it to be a finished game. Sometimes I will buy early access and not play it for 2-3 years the only reason why I bought was the price is cheaper than buying the finished game.... future investments lol
This is one of the videos I saw on how to kill a bear at level 1 I think an archer of some sort would be a better pick than a spell caster if you want to use towns folk as fodder. I wouldn’t use the fence exploit though ua-cam.com/video/eifpT8FyNaU/v-deo.html
This game looks like it has so much potential but it hasn't gotten to the point where it actually is worth money and unfortunately it looks like it has stalled in production and lost any support for the future
It has received an update pretty recently! I believe the devs--or at least some of them--are in Ukraine, so world events are probably making things move slower ;)
Hello! The sound balancing on the video sounds really off. Specifically, how your voice distributes between the left and right channels. I feel like your voice is almost entirely in my right ear, and it's uncomfortable to listen for a long time.
Huh, that is really strange! I understand what you mean but when I listen to it, the voice is in each ear. Is anyone else having this trouble? I can rerecord it! I'm just trying to duplicate it...
@@DrIncompetent The channels are fine - there is a sound in each ear. And if I only put on one headphone - it sounds good. But if I put on both, it sounds off. As if you are speaking to the side of the microphone or something.
Huh, thank you for letting me know! I am trying to figure out what this would be... I will look into it some more! I hope this isn't happening on other videos!
I am loving the level of detail you go into so far. Thank you so much for this.
My pleasure! I hope you enjoy the game--it is such fun!
The new update brought me here. Thank you for your attention to detail.
You are so welcome! This game is great but can be very daunting. I just died in 5 minutes with new character forgetting how to play haha ;)
This is MORE than informative.
This is the opposite of how my dad taught me maths when I was young.

Ever since RuneScape I've always tried the space bar. And am always pleasantly satisfied when it proceeds the dialogue.
I know! It's such a great way to move dialogue without clicking :) Good old RS keybind ;)
Thanks so much for this tutorial series. Its extremely helpful and you do a great job of breaking down the more nebulous game concepts. cheers!!

I think it's a good idea! They keep adding stuff and it's already got a ton of content if you can nab it on sale ;)

"character creation" literally isn't a character creation, it's a character selector. You can't even rename the character much else anything else.
Haha, true--I hope someday you can customize more!
