Great video, and you're very beautiful.
The only tip I have is that if you make a mistake, eventually it will grow out. It may be a long and grueling process, but if someone accidentally does something to their locks and then regrets it later, that section of damaged hair will eventually be pushed out by the new growth, and within a few years you will have fresh hair to replace any mistakes you made in the past.
    Time is the ultimate healer.

So happy i saw this video! I am 8months in with my locks and had no clue how to care for them. When i got them retwisted for the first time after 7months, the lady who did it didn't even tell me how to take care of my locks. Thank you for this very helpful "tip video".😊💖

When you wash them make sure you squeeze all the water out too because it can rot your hair off cause your dreads to break off easy too.

Great video! Much can also be said about the damaging effects of being poorly hydrated, having a nutritionally deficient diet, not managing stress, and not getting enough sleep. Our hair - particularly when it's bound together as locs - is a strong indicator of our internal state of health (both physical and psychological).

Jahmay Koulen, to be honest you have to learn from experience. When you start losing locks because you have twisted way too much. You will stop, just let that sink in. I'm on my second set. I kept my hands in my head. All the time, I lost 3 locks out of 200 grew them for 2 years middle of my back. This set I only have 120, 8 months in. Let your hair do its thing and use water to spritz it. Your babies love water.

    • @QueenGeGeNatureal
      @QueenGeGeNatureal 7 років тому +3

Jahmay Koulen try not to twist your hair as much like once a month and wash your hair once week or every 2 weeks use coconut oil, any type of natural hair oils also, castor oil and Tea tree oil and rose water to spray your locs and scalp that helps for dry scalp, locs and hair growth

I used to bleach my hair. I would mix blondest blonde and honey blonde PLUS I would add a booster. I was so naïve. Oh and to top it off I will sit in the sun with the dye on my head to boost the color. Lmaooooooooooo after years of weakening my hair that touched my behind all fell out I used to do 5 of the 5 things you mentioned. I am glad I know better know. I have not used dye in years and it is slowly growing back again. PLEASE MOISTURE YOUR HAIR and PLEASE REALIZE THAT EVERYONE HAS A DIFFERENT TEXTURE OF HAIR; RESPECT YOUR HAIR. Thanks Sistah you are on point.

You’re so helpful. You made me believe in my locs again.. I started losing my way with them after 3 years. Had slight thinning and it made me sick. Found out that it was because I was stressed, was getting them done too often, and I developed a habit of pulling on my locs excessively.. now, my hair has improved.. I stopped pulling and getting them retwisted.. it’s getting thicker and healthier now that I’m more aware of what I do to my locs. I’ve gone 5 months without retwist and I’ve embraced the frizz!

I go in for maintenance every 6 months that way it gives my hair the chance to grow
I sweat a lot so every other day I run them under cool water and put hairfood in my hair and wrap them up
I do not bleach my hair it caused hair damage in the past so I don't do it now when I dye my hair I just put the colour on my hair
I only dye my hair every 2 years so I don't dye regularly
I don't tend to put a lot of products in my hair and only put product in when I was them
My locs aren't long enough to do any styles yet
Thank you for the helpful advice I'm only 7 months in on my loc journey myself

I was listening to what you are saying about what can damage your loc's im a licensed cosmetologist since 94 i also have been wearing locs since 2000. I have never had much breakage until about 2 years ago when i allowed the owner of the salon it was working at to color my locs purple be she did lighten them with lightner mixed with shampoo, which is supposed to be less harsh. The problem came when i told her she hadn't rinsed all the products out of my nape area. We went back and forth on that til i just finish rinsing myself. I then allow her to retwist. Too me she used to many clips. My locs in the back began to break shortly after this experience. I said all that to say we need to respect each other profession, and always use professional verbage. Ie we don't bleach hair we lighten it we don't dye hair it color.. we don't wash hair it shampoo

So I don't want to bleach my hair but I do want to dye it. Would that be safe or should I just keep my natural color?

Your locs are beautiful and I agree with the styling thing. I had locs for 20 years this is my second sets which are 4yrs old this May and I never done those styles they seem to always look to tight for my taste.

I just started my my locs two days ago. I've been told so many things. The Africans didn't tell me what to use in my hair. I'm confused. Help me please on what to use

    • @regulus6773

Any shampoo with eucalyptus (and peppermint for that cleansing feel) and light oils like argan oil, jojoba oil, and even Indian hemp. You can also use a conditioner (to retain moisture) if you like.

Congrats on the start of your new journey! Why do you feel like they need a retwist? Are they unraveled or just puffy?

Natural Nirvana kinda both but I ask people about they say keep twisting it myself but I disagree with because I’m lazy lol so I just put Jamaican castor oil coconut in it once a week
