Thank you for this. I don't live in the state anymore. But I wear Ute gear proudly. Especially my scrubs. It's great to be associated with the Ute nation. I'm doing my part, so they are not a forgotten tribe.
Love it guys love this team and I may not be a student of the university of Utah but I’m a die hard fan we came a long way I love this team and school and the ute Indian tribe
Nice to see this interaction between the Ute Tribe and student athletes. Quietly tucking this away for the next time the cultural appropriation police make their rounds.
Just a bit of history! My third-great grandfather, Evan M. Greene, who started the Brigham Young High School and served as the second mayor of Provo signed the Armistice Agreement of Springville with Chief Black Hawk of the Ute Nation to end the war between the Utah Pioneers and the Ute Nation. Does this agreement still continue today between the Utah Utes and those who built BYU? Oh, Evan Greene also served as a delegate at the Utah Constitutional Convention as a member of the House of Representatives. Incidentally, my wife's great grandparents include Joseph Kingsbury who started University of Utah and his son-in-law Marriner Wood Merrill who started Utah State University.
Native American refers to the indigenous peoples of North, Central and South America, who were the original human inhabitants. However, Aztecs and their descendants do not call themselves Native American. They prefer the term Mexica to describe their culture. The Aztecs are central to the cultural heritage of Mexico.
Very cool stuff
