    We started watching your channel from the beginning. Loved watching you and Maybelle. We understand that maybelle is a mom now, but how about showing maybelle.. I am a mum of 3 grown kids but dont understand why maybelle can't be in your vlogs. It is getting repetitive now with you just showcasing your business. How about showing interesting things in phuket.

    Richie, you have a family now. The dream of retirement and running a restaurant are over my friend. Unless you came to Thailand with a boat load of money, and still have some left over. It's highly unlikely you and your family will ever live much above poverty.
    There are dreams and then there is reality. I can only assume you want to take care of your family and especially your little one ensuring they have the best future possible. Based on what has been shown, you would need to hit a multi-million-dollar lottery to make that happen. There just isn't enough cash flow running a nice restaurant to make all those things come true.
    It's a retirement job in Thailand, it's not a family man job unless you just don't care about the long-term future. Many don't and that's okay - I'm retired in Thailand, if we had kids, we wouldn't be here as there would be no real equitable future for my kids in Thailand compared to the opportunities available in my home country. It's just facts we have to live with - consider this, we don't need the money, nor ever will need money. But I would never raise my children in a place with little to no opportunity - we would return home, good schools, great trade craft training, etc. Yes, you can have all that in Thailand - you just need to bring a big western filled bank account which 99%+ don't have... The rules of have cash or don't have any apply everywhere, even here in Thailand.
    Private school for my wife's niece, which I pay, cost me over 100K BAHT a year - that's just the school and doesn't include anything else - double it for activities, transportation, etc. If I could get her back to my home country I would, but not possible so I do what I can for the family given we have no children and family is important to me.
    Its life, sometimes we just have to put the big boy pants on and do the right thing. It sucks most of the time, but right is right. In the end all we have is family, friends come and go.
    FYI - We have dined at your place several times in the past. Love the food and atmosphere!
    All this is being said with your best interest for family at heart. Hope you will take it that way. Tip my hat at your good run to date - best of luck moving forward!!!
    My last thought - imagine if you go back home, get your wife and child with you after a time. AND put all the energy you put into Thailand into your business at home - YOU would kill it, you have the experience and drive, there is more money and traffic in the UK. Visit Thailand, make a 15-year plan, come back and retire when the little one grows up. Win-Win!!!

    • @sandrabentley8111
      @sandrabentley8111 Місяць тому +1

      $2,800 a year! That's really nothing for private school fees. He's doing so well, not easy running several businesses. He's still young and having the time of his life!

    • @commanderbishop
      @commanderbishop Місяць тому

      @@sandrabentley8111 Yes, agreed, the private school is cheap compared to western schools - most in Thailand can't afford that. The average Thai family brings home 26k BAHT a month. Most car payments are more than that.
      I know Thai's that make 100k BAHT a month and they live in a 5M BAHT house - why, well life - car payment, kids aren't cheap payments, ever day life payments. And that is a very high salary in Thailand.
      So, after all that, how do you save money? If you're in your 40-50's or older, you have no savings, you die working the rest of your life if you don't go broke trying.
      This is why so many foreigners in Thailand live here - retire here also. They didn't save anything, they live in a cheap rental, waiting on the government pension check to clear so they can go back to the bar and talk about the good old days with the rest of the poor people.
      You want to raise a family, give your children a chance at a better life, you need more than that - most of raising a family is providing an example for your children to follow and opportunities; both of which typically cost money.
      When you have kids, it's not about you anymore or having a great time. Unless you just don't care which, I will admit, many don't, they are too busy thinking about themselves or chasing dreams that can typically never result in a reality.

    • @commanderbishop
      @commanderbishop Місяць тому

      @@andyv7368 It's the price you pay - in the end it's family, sacrifice is part of everything worth having... Took a year to get my Thai wife to my home country and over 10K in legal fees. Took 7 years for her to become a citizen all the time while I worked crappy jobs then spent 7 years building a business and selling it before returning to Thailand retired.
      It can be done. Results are different for everyone - we had a 15-year plan to always return to Thailand and retire, we made it happen together in 14 years. We haven't even hit 54 years of age yet.
      Again, your mileage/experience may vary - but you must have a realistic plan and stick with it.

    Hey Richie! Stay the course Richie; I'm with you Brother! Keep on keeping on! OMG! I commented before you repeated my thoughts. Being a former restauranteur, I mentioned the same thing to Dee, the Thai owner of Asiati;que Eatery in Ventura, CA where I had lunch yesterday July 5th planning my visit to Thailand with my buddy Doug. It's uncanny but food delivery services in California charge 30% too, is why Dee doesn't subscribe to their services. She said she would have to increase her takeout prices to absorb the delivery costs and chose not to. You're going about it the right way. Most people don't mind a nominal delivery fee. Westerners are accustomed to this additional charge in their countries. I admire your vision for the business and your family's future security. Good fortune, health, fun and happiness. Above all stay safe!

    When it comes to a business approaching a VAT threshold, it is important to make sure that you don't nudge over it, but sprint straight past it. You need to take the sting out of, in your case, 7% being taken off your revenue. BUT do make sure to work the system the other way too. Get the best advice you can from your accountant. In the UK for example, if you now have to play the VAT game, it isn't all one sided as it means that the VAT on every thing you buy for the business, is offset against VAT from your takings, except in the UK instead of 7% it's 20% and the difference is a bit more stark.

    He had a great little business but his head swelled to much. Starts a motorbike rental, fails. One coffee shops thinks he will start a franchise, -non starter. Now going to be a real estate tycoon. Stop dreaming and putting videos out where you lecture and brag. Maybelle was main reason visitors supported you.
