Jenna Rainey l viewed some of your videos today. I enjoyed them. I haven’t painted in watercolors in 14 years and I would like to start again but every time I get in the studio i become discouraged with the application of the pigments you’re videos may help me.
I used this for one of my high school art classes- we're learning color theory/analogous colors- and it is thoroughly done, and clear, but not excessively thorough. Thorough demonstration, which is a great addition to what I, as the teacher, am telling my students. Engaging and friendly-feeling explanation which seemed to hold their attention for a to-be-expected range of time. Thanks for putting in the time to share your gifting of creativity (from our creative God)! Nice looking book too. Considering getting it for use at school.
This was very informative and relaxing to watch at the same time. I have your book, I purchased paints and paper, but I have yet to begin actually practicing. I think it’s the fact that I don’t feel well enough to paint after radiation treatments.I recently, read art is used for healing and I decided to try watercolor. Thank you, for your awesome tutorials and your funny comments at times, make me smile.
The one thing I notice of all the teachers on the UA-cam :when they're showing going from the deep color to the lighter they never show the work done at the water cup. You showed it at the very beginning , ❤ which is commendable, but only a few times again. It's one of the most important things. Also, none of the paint mixing is shown. Its maddening. These techniques are paramount. Arrg.
Hi Jenna. As always your videos are full of information and I am soaking it all up. Thank you. I always had a hard time which colours combinations would be easy on the eyes and not make the viewer look away. I also learned something from your palette.. you have 2 yellows.. 1 to mix with cool colours and 1 for warm colours... very smart. Thank you.
Hello friend...... this was soooo helpful! I’m only two weeks in and I have already bought most of the supply list! Btw. I have to say, I love to see how relaxed you have become over your videos, it is so refreshing to be able to feel like you are learning from your friend.... I just need to order your book now 👍
Aw Lesley, I LOVE hearing that you are really getting into watercolor and painting along with me!!!! That makes me so happy! Thanks so much for watching and supporting, friend! ❤️❤️❤️
My biggest challenge so far is my own inconsistency. I know I need to make time for it every day but it’s often my last priority which makes me sad because painting brings me so much joy.
I know! It can be so hard to find time for it... But it does bring so much joy, I hope you can find more and more time for painting in the future!! xoxo
as beginner I watched your video an was very excited bc of your offering of the booklet download. so after finished the video, which is a nice tip to start your first watercolor painting, I tried to download. so sad the download is not possible anymore. this rainbow really has two possibilities of use. first to learn to mix your colors and second to make your walls much more interesting. every range of colors could be made. every red to every blue. it is a beautiful possibility instead of square swatches. 🌸
Check the description of a newer video, you'll find a proper link for the download!! The earlier videos have a dead link and I can't go back to fix them all.
Love your videos! You're a great teacher! Thanks for the generous download of your e-book. I have your Everyday Watercolor book, and loving the daily, step-by-step instruction. It really breaks it all down so you can enjoy the peace and enjoyment of painting with watercolors. Looking forward to layering and glazing with colors.
You're very welcome!! I am so glad it's helpful and I do hope you enjoy the book as well! More videos will be coming on color theory series (hopefully) soon! xoxo
Thanks for all you tutorials during thus stay at home time. I have not been able to download your email book on color, when I click link it goes to floral e book.
Thanks so much Barb!! I’m so sorry to hear you can’t get Princeton... not even order online?? That’s really my go-to I’ve been using for so long, not sure of what else may be comparable level. Sorry to be so unhelpful. 😔
I know you talk about your paints in most of your videos but when I was on amazon looking I got confused.. is what’s in your palette tubed paint? Thank you!❤️
Yes, I take pigments from tubes, put them in my palette, let them dry, then re-activate them with water when I want to paint. It helps the pigments last longer. Here's my full paint list that I use: - Winsor & Newton Professional Level Paint. Colors I use: - Mars Black: amzn.to/2GFS2sl - Burnt Umber (brown): amzn.to/2ZzEi9X - Ultramarine Violet: amzn.to/2XGwemf - Prussian Blue: amzn.to/2DtyUvR - Phthalo Turquoise: amzn.to/2Q0Xp8t - Cobalt Blue: amzn.to/2Hef8GP - Permanent Sap Green: amzn.to/2ZyS7ph - Lemon Yellow Deep: amzn.to/2Gxcjzc - Yellow Ochre: amzn.to/2DCvbvX - Scarlet Lake (red): amzn.to/2DxEo8E - Opera Rose (pink): amzn.to/2IVVxfL - Cadmium Orange: amzn.to/2XCtK8q
To answer your question... Is hard for me to combine colors, in my mind they look good, but not so much in paper. I also would like to know the concepts when it comes to color theory... I'll be diving in to the freebie!!

I find colour very challenging. I don't have a natural eye for it so I struggle to find compatible colour schemes.
