I am a Gohan fan but even I find the current humor involving him more mean spirited than back in Z. You should read the fan Manga Dragonball Z Elsewhere. Yamcha was a character in the series I had nothing against TBH. I haven't watched DB yet so I haven't seen what he had done yet. It wasn't til BT3 I started to really respect the guy. And then Arc decided to make this guy just great. My respect for the guy grew to the point he became a character I really grew to like. Not my favorite character (that belongs to Piccolo), but he's up there now.
Kinda want to make a petition to Toriyama to give this guy a character arc...

Am currently binge watching DBZ, completed DB before this. Seen plenty of Yamcha joke around all the time, and as I'm watching the show, I find that the character is kinda cool. May not be among the strongest but he did contribute to the team with the best of his capabilities. Beginning of DB till DB Frieza saga, he seems to be a real go getter. Always eager to train and fight despite knowing that the upcoming enemy gonna be really strong. Until somewhere before the Android saga that determination seems to start falling already. Sad to see though. And he looks best with the long hair too.

I have played through the whole story and I don't want to spoil it for you but, I'll just say he only had one line of diaologe that briefly mentioned her other than that I have not seen any interaction with Him and Android 21, I just said Yamcha x Android 21 because she's single and Yamcha said wanted to get married.

Yamcha over estimates Vegeta because all Vegeta ever does is brag and act cocky when in fact he's lost more fights than he's won. Vegeta is also a narcissistic sociopath, which is not something to be proud of. Hell, even Piccolo has made a complete 180 degrees change from being literally the Devil (of Earth) to being completely redeemed. Vegeta on the other hand remains the arrogant, egocentric megalomaniac he's always been, just slightly tamed.
