Elk Hunting With An Alpaca PACKRAFT

This last Fall I was able to use an Alpacka packraft on one of my elk hunts. In turned out to be a phenomenal tool for backcountry hunts. Once you understand how easy they are to use and how to rig them up for hunting, you can access a lot more country in many big game areas across the West.
In this video, I go over my review of the raft, the setup process, how two or more hunters can use just one raft to cross rivers, and rigging the raft for the hunting application.

Good vdeo.. consider using a locking carabiner to avoid the danger of entrapment that a regular carabiner imposes.

Alpacca Rafts are popular among DIY Public Land hunters. Sometimes getting across a major portion of a river, pond, reservoir, etc to hunt endless amounts of public ground on the other side is worth the $1k(+/- a few bucks) investment. The Caribou or Mule style of boat is about perfect for someone who spends weeks at a time in the wilderness. Good info in this video, don’t forget you’re life vest😉

These boats are amazing and a Alpacka is a fantastic Colorado based company. Been using them for years to explore remote whitewater. River running is one of the best ways to enjoy nature and without a doubt unbelievably fun. If you lean forward at the waist while paddling you’ll be much more stable & won’t look like a total newbie. Thanks for the videos, I’ve learned a lot here:)

Great video, great tips! One safety point, coming from a swiftwater safety tech - make sure you're using a life jacket and don't ever use non-locking caribiners on moving water!

I just ordered an Alpacka Raft Mule. Way heavier than your scout, but if you can run it like a canoe hunt…Compared to the e cost of a fly-in, this is hard to beat. Love the idea of a scout or caribou for river crossings
