I am not in a confrontational mood as such, but to me you gave in to this guy. He sort of made it conditional for the pair of you to leave the site. Interesting site or not, I think that you should have put the drone up. On a point of principle.....and not a criticism of yourself. However I do think that this man will now see this encounter as being an empowering exercise.......for himself.
