      @Русское море What do you mean?Did not come to war at full strength?Still it was bloody war with many battles, for example the last large battle which cavalry was used as such and not as mounted infantry: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Komar%C3%B3w

    "First ruler" was not a first ruler but first christian ruler (at least 3 of his predecessors are known by name). His name is read in English something like Mieshko and he had title of a duke.
    About Pączki people usually eat few of them. So with population of ~38mln 100mln eaten is more reasonable estimate.

      Mieszko actually was first ruler because he has united tribes of Poland. He also became Christian so as to gain respect from other "civilized" countries.

    • @SatrapaWr
      @SatrapaWr 5 років тому +1

      @@niddhoggr Conquered to be more precise. The name of the country came from the name of the tribe he was ruling over not from a trait (applicable at that point in time) of many tribes or region that hold a single name at that point in time. If you derive a name for a country from a single tribe then the existence of the country is connected to the tribe itself not its subjugation of neighbors. By that logic the country existed before (Rome existed before they took control over Italia or wider later Roman Empire). It could have not been recognized as a part of the community by the Christian countries but if it was organized it existed. If the logic of existence would be moved to being recognized in writing by Christian chroniclers then the ancient kingdoms were non-existent because there was no one to recognize them at that time. If you attach the existence to adopting Christianity then well... a lot of countries in the UN are non-existent. A date attributed to creation of a state had to be picked somehow and in the years past when the discussion belonged to the Church they attributed it to adopting of this religion. The date is arbitrary and the justification for it is only the convenience of the power that stayed behind the throne for centuries. If you would take any universal standards for the existence of a country it is unlikely that the beginning would be the rule of Mieszko the 1st.

      To be clear all my statements above are just for the sake of having in mind definitions from political science and archaeological (and historical) evidence. 966 is fine for symbolical starting point but it is worth to remember it is symbolical point and arbitrary one.
      Historical ignorants spammed the internet with pseudohistorical jibberish so I can't find the sources but I read an article investigating archaeological evidence for the creation of the country of Piasts. Small initial area and growth over few decades before the baptism (with some old settlements abandoned and other built which match the policy of early Piasts with forced resettlement of enslaved, conquered peoples). For me this is a proof of organization and I believe we can easily assume it was continuous to the the baptism. I would call this a growing country.

    Battle of Vienna stopped Ottomans invading all of Europe, battle of Monte Cassino, free education with high level of education leading to high unemployment rate and high migration, BIG, really BIG pressure on culture, tradition and immigration, Poland is one of or maybe only country that “de legalized “ Muslim refugees migration, one of safeties country’s in Europe, one of the biggest countries I think in the world , which have the best export good as “people “, Poland stopped Red Army March in 1919-1921 preventing communism spreading, maybe Germany would never go fascist or today all of countries in Europe would be still communist
