  • The much-loved British TV presenter and health expert Michael Mosley tragically died on the Greek island of Symi last week after going for a walk in high temperatures. He was found after an intensive search, having seemingly fallen down a steep slope. Mosley was known for his health advice on dieting, sleep and exercise.
As well as a moving statement by his wife, Mosley’s death has sparked huge numbers of tributes from his fans. Ex-Labour deputy leader Tom Watson said Mosley helped him lose seven stone and regulate his type 2 diabetes. Others said Mosley’s advice had helped them to lower their cholesterol levels. Here are some of his most recognised contributions to health guidance.

And then you will become old, your body slowly will stop work correctly and you will be surviving only bc of the pharmacists. I am infinitely grateful for their work ❤

Can't understand why an intelligent medical man would go walking in that searing heat. Just saying it just does not make sense. 43 temperature. Such a normal thing to consider before even sitting on the beach in that extreme. Very sad really

      His wife.
      She's also a Doctor?
Surely she could see the madness of going off walking in that furnace hot sun.
If he had lost his marbles, she hadn't, why didn't she stop him?
He'd only arrived on the Island the day before, no time for his body to acclimatise to the temperature.
He hadn't even got his phone.
She says ,"he nearly made it"
The whole thing is so bizarre, brainless & utter MADNESS...

I started the 5:2 diet immediately after watching Dr M's documentary and found that not only did it help me to lose weught, it boosted my immune system to the point whereby I never caught a cold. I feel so terribly sad, almost as if I have lost a friend. R.I.P. Dr Mosley and god bless your wife and children.

    • @AndrewLakeUK
      @AndrewLakeUK 3 місяці тому

" it boosted my immune system to the point whereby I never caught a cold" This is why the liars and charlatans who invent "alternative medicines" keep making stuff up. It's impossible to say that changing to a 5:2 diet did anything to your immune system, you may not have had any colds, but it's impossible to know how many you would have had if you didn't, plus the symptoms of a cold are your immune system working to fight the cold, raising your body temperature, increasing mucus flow etc, , if it didn't work you wouldn't have the symptoms. Even if you could prove it improved your immune system that would still not prove anything on a global scale, it would be one data point, you have no way of telling if your immune system would regress to the mean at a later point, or that you have a confounding factor you haven't accounted for.
Humans are terrible at telling what works and what doesn't, so we invented methods to tell if what we're seeing is likely to be chance or an actual change. That's called science.

I'm sorry for the Mosley family's loss. What was he thinking walking into a blinding hot wilderness without his phone? And if as CCTV footage showed he had an umbrella why didn't it give him some protection from the heat...?
Is the 5:2 or 800 calorie/day diet he advocated for people who are overweight? Only, if I were to follow it it would make me look anorexic as I am already quite skinny. I don't count calories, but being on a very low income I can't afford to over-eat.

I liked him. Pain, Puss and Poison was amazing. But this 'eat for 5 days and don't for 2' is such a construct. I don't think the metabolism bases itself around a 7 day cycle.
    Anyway, RIP.
'The family are taking solace in the fact that it was a very arduous climb and he very nearly made it', said his wife (??!) and he was found by the town mayor not far away from a hotel, where lots of people and helicopters had been searching for two days before and it was ludicrous that they hadn't found him there, prior to when he was, eventually, found.
Greek 'police' have announced the death as 'natural causes', after a 'preliminary examination' (!!!!!) and a toxicology report has been requested.
How can you announce the cause of death as 'natural causes' before a toxicology report, just because there's no outwardly signs of bruising or trauma?
