The opening line always grabs me because it's what happens to all of us, whether we recognize it or not. "Welcome to your life, there's no turning back".
No doubt about it... you are ready for two of their other big hits... "SHOUT" and "SOWING THE SEEDS OF LOVE"!!! Watching the official videos is necessary to fully capture the entire mind trip of both songs.
Tears for Fears are an English pop rock band formed in 80's. Their 2 biggest hits are "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" & "Shout". They had other songs such as "Mad World", "Change", "Pale Shelter", "The Way You Are", "Mothers Talk", "Head Over Heels", "I Believe", "Sowing The Seeds Of Love", "Woman In Chains" etc.
I heard you say people probably had this song on repeat. Remember, this came out before CD's and digital music. So, if you wanted to rewind your cassette player.... haha! Otherwise, you heard it on the radio or your stereo system.
Songs like this are why I love reaction videos. This song was so incredibly massive at the time that even though I loved it it was on constantly. You sort of lose sight of how great something is when you hear it on the radio or see it on MTV every five minutes, which was definitely the case with this song. I've always loved it but it sort of faded into a general "the 80s were great" fog. Especially as this is one of the ones that still gets played a lot now. It's very cool seeing someone hear it for the first time. It lets me hear it in a new way and realize how genuinely great this song is. Anyway Tears for Fears are a great band. My personal favorite from them was Head Over Heels.
This "was" my sons music when he was growing up, little did he know that Mom loved it too, in fact I was the one that bought albums by them and many others during the eighties, but I'm a fifties, sixties and seventies girl at heart! My favorite during that time was Twisted Sister! You should check them out sometime! "We're Not Going to Take It" is a good place to start!
Oh, this takes me right back to my 16 year-old self! I loved this band. Now you should react to "Shout". That one is actually my favorite song of theirs, but this is definitely right up there too. This album was MASSIVE! New Wave/Pop/ Techno was so popular in the 80's.
One of the best bands of the 80s and 90s. They recently returned with a new album in 2022 which showed they have lost none of their brilliance. Check out the title track ‘The Tipping point’
Their album "Songs From The Big Chair" is one of the best albums of the 1980s. A complete work of art, every song is great, and the whole album works together better then any pop album in the decade.
I do believe this song is one of the very best to come out of the 80s, and that's saying a lot because there were so many! I never get tired of hearing it. Great reaction. ✌️😎☘️
Tears for Fears are a FANTASTIC band all their songs are worth listening to. It would be great to see you reacting to more from them . Head over Heels is such a good song so is Pale Shelter , Shout, Mad world. your reaction was great, I could tell you enjoyed the song !
Me too! Good music is good music. Just saw TFF last year in San Diego with opening band, Garbage. Pretty much sold out the amphitheater. Amazing show, they still got it!
An other band you should check out I thought of when you started checking out synth-pop is Pet Shop Boys. They had some hits right around the same time as this band. West End Girls is probably the biggest one.
Been a favorite of mine since I was 12 when it was released and the video was in heavy rotation on MTV. The album was fire! On the cover, are the two members, Roland Orzabal on the left and Curt Smith on the right. Roland was on the guitar and backing vocals for this track, and Curt was on the main vocals. "Head Over Heels" and "Shout" are also great singles from the album.
I sometimes share this story when someone reacts to this song. In 1985, when this came out we did not have cable in the city yet, just the county, so I had to go to friend's house to view MTV. However, there was a show on Saturday night, Saturday Night Videos, that played music videos. I was in labor with my forever 32 year- old son and of course, with the opening lines being," welcome to your life, there's no turning back", well it was the perfect soundtrack for his birth! Plus, he was definitely the type of soul befitting of the song! Badman's Song live is a really awesome song and performance!
Tears For Fears is one of the best bands from the 1980s!! I've seen them several times in concert, and they are excellent! Great band!! Please go down the TFF rabbit hole! You will love them!
Would definitely recommend you follow-up with them listening to "Mad World" for more new-wavey sound, or "Sowing the Seeds of Love" for more big sounds and feel good vibes
I liked Tears for Fears on my teens on the 80s but just finally saw them in concert last year and they still sound amazing! They have so many great songs and are very talented! Their new album 'The Tipping Point' has a lot of good songs. Some of my fave TFT songs: "Sowing the Seeds of Love", "Head over Heals", "Woman in Chain", "Mad World", "Advice for the Young at Heart", "The Working Hour".... Their first album "The Hurting" is so experimental for the time...so good!
Great band! Saw them in the UK a couple of years ago on tour. Still sounded amazing. Released a new album in 2022. Fantastic. Plenty of great tracks to review. Woman in Chains is epic!
yes! this is my absolute favorite Tears for Fears song! you should definitely listen to more of them: Shout and Mad World to start and then just keep going. they never miss! I have to say that this was one of my favorite reactions from you; I could tell you were having a blast haha ❤
Oh man, Probably one of my all time faves, now check out more of their stuff! (Pentatonix covered "Mad World" ) These guys were (are) world class genius. Love your channel😎
Every album has it’s own feel and flavor. Songs From The Big Chair, and it’s follow up Sowing The Seeds of Love are masterpieces in their own right. Tracks to check out; Shout, Badman’s Song, Mad World, Head Over Heels
Very good songs from a band that was, actually, very ignored after the years. I think their best song is THE BEATLE'S SONG THAT THE BEATLES NEVER WROTE: "Sowing The Seeds Of Love".
'Women in Chains' is certainly worth a listen and from the movie of the same name. An odd bit of fact: Phil Collins played drums on this hit, though he is not featured on their video. (not surprised you love this.....they are so good) Now check out Phil's solo work. You will LOVE it!
Growing up in the hood it wasn't hip to listen to pop music but I loved this group when first hearing it especially as it was the ending song in one of my fav movies -Real Genius...I remember my bro friend who was heavily in rap heard me listening to it and told me to turn it up, I was shocked and happy to have his acceptance 😁
Tears for Fears are a British synthpop, new wave and alternative rock band, some songs even have a bit of indie rock. The best albums are, of course, 1983,1985 and 1989, the years of the group's activity, there is a good album in 1993, but there Roland performs alone
LOVE this!! I fell in love with this IMMEDIATELY when it came out!🤩 I also think Roland Orzabal is very underrated as a guitarist. Sowing the Seeds of Love AND Pale shelter are two other favs for me. Thanks you for this, Sal!! 😀
Thank You... Good Sir, the absolute next things you NEED TO LISTEN TO from them: "Head Over Heels", "The Working Hour", "Pale Shelter", "Mad World", "Seeds Of Love", "Advice For The Young At Heart"; and, from their brand new album (released in 2022), "Break The Man", "My Demons". Happy New Year.
Ciao, Paisano! Thanks for all your reactions. I've totally enjoyed them all. Boston was so cool! Glad to see you enjoying this amazing 1980's anthemic tune by TFF! Their music just flooded the airwaves then! Try, "Sowing the Seeds of Love" for great an unapologetic Beatle-esque tune. I was younger than you are today when this band hit the charts. So happy to see you loving and sharing it with us all! Shalom!!
It was a wonderful time to young. The music was amazing! This group and their albums ruled my playlist for many many many years. Shout was big off of this album, but I feel The Working Hour was a track as good as Rule was but didn’t get the air time. You should check it out.
I just realized when you said everybody must’ve had it on repeat, that "on repeat" was first available to the masses around the time this song came out (via the burgeoning CD format).
Album title came from the movie “Sybil”. It’s a reference to the chair Sybil (suffering with multiple personalities) would sit in at her therapist’s. One personality was a little girl and called it the “big chair” where she would sit and tell her stories. TFF took the name as their songs on the album were a confession of their feelings at the time.
...and now you need to watch the official video. I still love it. I played this on my cassette player in my car driving home after college graduation in 1986. So the first line sung was exactly fitting for me at the time.
Still killing it after controlling the 80’s….the video to this is interesting to say the least. They have many hits you should check out…..Shout,Head Over Heels, Elemental, etc. A great one is “ Woman in Chains” with the great Oleta Adams.
You should check out one of there more recent singles "The Tipping Point', released last year. It has a video but if you prefer they have a live performance of the song of them singing on SiriusXM
I was mowing lawns of rich folk in Tulsa, OK the summer of this song. I would hear it on my Walkman all the time. Whenever I hear it, it still makes me think of that summer mowing lawns and this one hot rich girl that always laid out by her pool. lol Crazy how memories work.
I grew up with Matt and Mimi Moog. Same class as Mimi from 3rd grade thru senior in high school. At the time I had no understanding of how their Fathers invention the MOOG synthesizer would influence the new music of the 80s and the worlds musical history.
Not sure how I missed this reaction of yours, this IS my personal all-time favorite song from the 80's! I remember hearing it for the first time when it released and seeing the video on MTV (good times) and something about it just hit me in a certain way that I couldn't describe at the time but whenever I think back to the 80's, I think of this song and anytime I hear the song, I am back in the 80's. Tears for Fears has a wonderful catalogue of music outside of their released songs, you should really check them out, they are extremely talented and they do not overcomplicate their music. Also, this song was used in the movie Real Genius, also a wonderful movie!
This came out my junior year in high school. Still as high on my rotation as it was in 1985. Check out anything from their 1983 The Hurting album! You won't be disappointed.
The opening line always grabs me because it's what happens to all of us, whether we recognize it or not. "Welcome to your life, there's no turning back".
God speed ahead
No doubt about it... you are ready for two of their other big hits... "SHOUT" and "SOWING THE SEEDS OF LOVE"!!! Watching the official videos is necessary to fully capture the entire mind trip of both songs.
Entirely agree, the ‘Sowing the Seeds of Love’ video really does enhance the song and you are missing out big time if you just listen to the audio.
@@Young_Jim Most 80's trash needs the video for help. :)
@@rickwelch8464 - yes there certainly was a lot of trash around in those days but there were a few ‘diamonds in the rough’ lol.
@@Young_Jim yep, a few. Most were by this band lol
Their song Mad World has been covered by SO many artists in so many different genres.
God, I love 80s music. And I love younger people discovering it for the first time!
"Head Over Heels", " Shout", "Sowing the Seeds of " Love", "Mad World". Those two guys were geniuses in their own right.
Era y lo siguen siendo con The Tipping Point!
"Head over heals" is my favorite
I also love their song “ Head Over Heals”
The music video to this song is Unforgettable
“Woman in Chains” is a spectacular song of theirs
You might also like their songs "Shout" and "Mad World" and "Head Over Heels."
Back a century ago, when MTV actually played music videos, pretty much whenever you turned it on this would be playing. This or Shout.
I saw them a few years ago (touring with Hall & Oates) and they were incredible.

They had other songs such as "Mad World", "Change", "Pale Shelter", "The Way You Are", "Mothers Talk", "Head Over Heels", "I Believe", "Sowing The Seeds Of Love", "Woman In Chains" etc.
Loved your 'etc' at the end of an extensive list. :)
For me, this song is THE quintessential song of the '80s. When you hear those opening cords, you're immediately transported back in time.
This song is in the movie “Real Genius” and I affectionately call it the “Popcorn Song.” It always makes me smile.
This was pretty much THE ballad of the 1980's
Such a typical 80s song. Great music arrangement, positive vibes. I recommend "Head over Heels"
My favorite!
I heard you say people probably had this song on repeat. Remember, this came out before CD's and digital music. So, if you wanted to rewind your cassette player.... haha! Otherwise, you heard it on the radio or your stereo system.

Yes! @SalvoG Please, listen to “Shout” - even catchier than this one IMO. Takes me right back to high school 😊❤️
One of the best bands of the 80s and 90s. They recently returned with a new album in 2022 which showed they have lost none of their brilliance. Check out the title track ‘The Tipping point’
My favorite band growing up!
Please please check out they’re smash hit SHOUT! You will absolutely luv it Salvo.
Their album "Songs From The Big Chair" is one of the best albums of the 1980s. A complete work of art, every song is great, and the whole album works together better then any pop album in the decade.

Tears for Fears "HEAD OVER HEALS" is my favorite! ❤️ Original video
Mad World which PTX did as well, Head Over Heels and Shout. They are all great!
They reunited and put out a new album last year too. Pretty sure there are some 2022 live versions on UA-cam, they sound pretty much the same tbh.
Good road trip music
Oh yeah. Drive on down the highway
SO TRUE!!!!
Tears for Fears are a FANTASTIC band all their songs are worth listening to. It would be great to see you reacting to more from them . Head over Heels is such a good song so is Pale Shelter , Shout, Mad world. your reaction was great, I could tell you enjoyed the song !
Despite being an avid Rush fan, I do love the songs of this band as well. They capture the hope that we had for a better world in the 80s.
Me too! Good music is good music. Just saw TFF last year in San Diego with opening band, Garbage. Pretty much sold out the amphitheater. Amazing show, they still got it!
I'm so pleased you did Tears for Fears !! Head over Heels , Mad World , Pale Shelter are also fantastic songs! Brilliant reaction as always!
TFF are whole-album stuff. In fact ALL their albums are spot-on ❤❤
An other band you should check out I thought of when you started checking out synth-pop is Pet Shop Boys. They had some hits right around the same time as this band. West End Girls is probably the biggest one.
SalvoG!! Now it's time to listen to their song called "Shout"!! It's SO ANTHEMIC! They are the real deal, brother!

My 18yr old Grandson Loves this Song! He has looped it. My daughter wants me to make him stop. I'm like..My job is done!

LOL! Repeat didn't exist back in those days. Back then it was called "rewind" LOL
I think Tears for Fears was every hard rocker and metal guys guilty pleasure back in this day 😂 Great album 💿🙌🏼🎸🎼🥁😀

One of my top favorites. I’ll stop to listen to this song anytime, anywhere it’s playing.
Just saw them in concert this past summer. Touring supporting their new album which is fantastic. Very gifted musicians and composers.
Saw them this summer also, phenomenal!!
yes! this is my absolute favorite Tears for Fears song! you should definitely listen to more of them: Shout and Mad World to start and then just keep going. they never miss! I have to say that this was one of my favorite reactions from you; I could tell you were having a blast haha ❤

You should do their song shout, then disturbeds version of it
Play "SHOUT" by them. KILLER song!
I certainly remember when this album came out. It's extraordinary!
This song is always going to sound like a drive on a sunny day with the top down.
'Women in Chains' is certainly worth a listen and from the movie of the same name. An odd bit of fact: Phil Collins played drums on this hit, though he is not featured on their video.

"Songs from the Big Chair" should be listened to in it's entirety, if you get the chance.
I watch a LOT of your videos and I can't help myself anymore. YOU are the cutest damn cub I've seen in a long time. Thanks for being on here.
Actually their other hit from this album "Shout" was the one on repeat. but this one has aged much better.
The official music video of this song in 85 was and still is one of my favorites
The video of is as awesome. Must watch to appreciate & apply the sound of the different instruments.
My Jam! They just started touring again. Sound just as good as in the 80’s! Love your reactions.
Great tune, vocals excellent! Definitely a road trip song. The two leads are the guitarist and bass player. Shout will be an anthem for you.

Please listen to Head Over Heels
Gary Jules - Mad World
a Tears for Fears cover
He may have reacted to the Pentatonix cover of Mad World. Idon’t recall
Other than shout, other 2 songs that I love from TFT are, Head Over Heals & Seeds Of Love.
They dont have a bad song. Love them all.
This whole album is amazing! You’re gonna love it!

Love love love this album!
Love their new song the tipping point
Songs and bands like this made for some really fun film sound tracks back in the day (1985 Real Genius starring Val Kilmer).
I love this song, but always think of that movie when I hear it as well!!
Still killing it after controlling the 80’s….the video to this is interesting to say the least. They have many hits you should check out…..Shout,Head Over Heels, Elemental, etc. A great one is “ Woman in Chains” with the great Oleta Adams.

Do yourself a favor and watch the music video. It’s how we all experienced this song. It’s so good! 😁❤️
Every time I hear this song, I think of the movie Real Genius & popcorn. Lol
Not sure how I missed this reaction of yours, this IS my personal all-time favorite song from the 80's! The 80s a great time for music IMO the songs and lyrics were much more than just shaking one of our body parts all night! ❤ the 80s!
This is such an Iconic song of the 80's right along with Shout. ❤❤
It was soooo popular when it came out, and it still is. It’s catchy, but not too pop rocky. Fun song, and nice reaction to it.
From what I understand they got back together during lockdown and are now touring again. Enjoy
I remember this being used in the movie "Real Genius" about youth rebelling against military exploitation of intellect.
My favourite band in my teens in England, used to listen to them a lot. Awesome!
They have so many great songs. I Love "Break It Down Again". I hope you eventualy do the video for "Everybody Wants...", it's cool.
Me driving with the top down in Los Cabos. This is one of my all-time favorite 80's songs!
i was just five when i used to listen this song at my parents house. my old brothers were hooked on this song in the eightees 😄
This came out my junior year in high school. Still as high on my rotation as it was in 1985. Check out anything from their 1983 The Hurting album! You won't be disappointed.
