OMG I’ve got chills. Haven’t seen this performance in ages. So easy to forget just how brilliant Queen are. Freddie’s vocals and the harmonies. Everything.
Glad your giving John Deacon the bass player his due. He was also an amazing electrical engineer and made the Deacy amp which the guitarist Brian May still uses to this day. John wrote great songs check them out! John was close to Freddie and retired after Freddie died.
YESSSS - The Highlander movie is definitely worth a watch!! You should react to PRINCES OF THE UNIVERSE (also from the film) and make sure you do the official video that contains film clips!! Each member of Queen wrote a song for the movie soundtrack!
It occurred to me as i watched this that since all of them had college degrees-- Brian I think already had his masters in physics. That all speaks not only to the breadth and depth that education contributes to artistic creation but also to the maturity and discipline they brought to it.
Not only SHOULD you watch The Highlander movie but do a reaction video to it as well. I'd love to see it. Sean Connery as an Egyptian/Spaniard and Christopher Lambert as a Scot...not to be missed lol. If you want to see Queen at their best you should seek out their set at Live Aid in 1985. It didn't so much create Queen fans as remind everyone that they already were Queen fans. It's widely regarded as the best rock set in rock history. And looking at who else was in the bill for Live Aid you'll appreciate how big a statement that is.
SUGGESTION: "WHO WANTS TO LIVE FOREVER" live at Wembley... FRIDAY, JULY 11, 1986 (I specified the date because Queen actually performed TWO consecutive-night concerts here in 1986: Friday, July 11 and Saturday, July 12. For this particular song, the FRIDAY, JULY 11... IS. THE. BEST. FREDDIE WILL POSSIBLY MAKE YOU CRY. P.S. Queen performed two consecutive concerts at Wembley in July 1986 because when they announced the first concert date, it sold out SO FAST they added the second night... Then, that second date sold out SO FAST, they added an additional concert venue also in London for a month later at the tail end of their 1986 tour, at Knebworth Park. The Knebworth concert has become (in)famous among Queen fans, as it was the LAST ever live Queen concert that Freddie performed. (He told the band after the show that he couldn't do live concerts anymore... They thought it was just because he was tired, but it was actually due to health problems he'd been starting to have from HIV AIDs onset.)
This is a long comment but will give you some context: The Wembley Concert (in England) was just one of many concerts on Queen's Magic Tour, 1986 which took Queen throughout Europe for many months in the summer of 1986 (June through August). The band decided that they would ONLY perform in stadiums throughout Europe. In total, they preformed 26 SOLD OUT concerts with one, two and, in some cases, three concerts in each country - France, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, West Germany (the Berlin Wall still existed so the band was prohibited by East Germany to go into that partitioned land), Ireland, Sweden, Austria, and Hungary. (Hungary was still under communist control at the time. Queen was the FIRST ROCK BAND to perform behind what was then called the "Iron Curtain" which separated the countries under communist regimes from the rest of democratic free Europe.). In England, The Wembley Concert sold out so quickly that they had to perform another night at Wembley to meet the demand. The second Wembley concert sold out so quickly that the band held yet another concert at the end of the tour at Knebworth where 120,000 people were in the audience! Europe had never seen anything like this. In Budapest (Hungary), Queen performed to 82,000 people inside the stadium and an additional 45,000 outside the stadium. People traveled from all over the Iron Curtain countries to see the band perform in Budapest. It was so popular, that the concert in Budapest is often referred to as the Hungarian Rhapsody. I think it has some of the best music of Queen's tour. A favorite of mine from that concert is "Who wants to Live Forever" which is another of Brian May's compositions for the movie, Highlander.
Actually Iron Maiden were behind the Iron Curtains before Queen. Queen was the first commercially successful western band playing in a stadium (IM played not in but next to the Népstadium - if I am not mistaken in the parking lot...
@@andreavoros-marky4203 Thank you for that information...I was unaware that IM played there prior to Queen. I'll make a note so that I'm not providing incorrect info.
@@lindamaclellan4899 no problem. Not many knos this. They had quite a big tour in '84. Went to several countries like Poland and Hungary. 😁 They were not a mainstream band back then, so did not have that big of a impact on the communist ideology I suppose. At least the political elit did not think so. 😛
Breaks my heart every time that he is no longer with us. So thankful that we have such wonderful video. Itotally recommend "Now I'm here" live from Wemble 1986. Amazing! Wembley was an awesome concert!
Wembley was an incredible concert start to finish. I missed out on seeing them live but this whole concert was amazing. The opening number Now I'm here is spectacular if you want to see the magic that starts off this concert. I found you through Home Free reactions but love your Queen reactions as well.
Hey April, just a little FYI: The opening number during this whole tour was "One Vision". ("Now I'm Here" is somewhere along the way during the show; I forget what number it was in the setlist... I absolutely LOVE "Now I'm Here", too!)😉
The other ones you should check out most of this concert; it sold out in less than an hour before computers so they had to do a two night concert. My fave from this concert was Who Wants To Live Forever and One Vision..............anything from Wembley and Queen is must watch.
Queen is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! Maybe you could react to songs early in their careers just to see how they evolved! I love the whimsical songs "Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon" and "Seaside Rendezvous". Also, drummer Roger Taylor wrote and performed "I'm in love with my car" which I promise you won't be disappointed!!! Always love your reactions and your approach! Love from Texas!!!
Weird that my 21 year old self in 86 would have thought-wow cool, so many people but my current 58 year old self worries about crowd crushes . The music remains the same even as I've changed, thank goodness !
Yay! More Queen. Go down the rabbit hole Salvo. You won’t be sorry! Try Spread Your Wings. Such an underrated song. Love Queen! Btw John Deacon was a great bass player and anchored many of their songs. Freddie’s voice was definitely a kind of Magic. That’s a concert a Wembley. Under Pressure at Wembley is great.
Absolutely loved this one, the look of enjoyment on your face was 👌🏻 Freddie was and still is the best, taken way to soon 😢! 100% recommend watching highlander! And did I mention it stars Sean Connery, what’s not to love? X
Wow 🥰 beautiful sweet Freddie ❤️ this song was my first time hearing dearest Freddie and queen 🤩 I loved the Highlander movie because of Queen's amazing songs 🤩
Check out Dragon Attack (you’ll love it) and the live version of Somebody to Love both at Montreal 1981. The whole concert is eargasmic! Lol❤Love your reactions-I watch you because you make smart observations and the music moves you. Please more Queen. Thank you!

Highlander is a great movie... only the first... great history and OST... the TV series is good too... I see as a child and my love for sword and fencing beginning 😍. Freddy are one of the best frontman... he eat the stage with charisma, voice and performs... Wembley is a example from this-.
Hi Salvo, I love your Queen reactions and look forward to more. I know you started with some of their official recordings, but you have seen just how amazing they are live. The best live band IMO. Freddie felt that we could listen to the official album recordings anytime, so they made a point of making the performances different. No two songs are exactly the same in the live shows. Freddie always finds something to do like throw in a high note etc. I know you reacted to the official recording of Somebody To Love, but would you please react to the live version from the Montreal show in 1981 please. Freddie is wearing the Superman tank top that he wore in the Save Me reaction. Here is a list of other Queen songs There are a few from this same concert at Wembley with Freddie in that yellow jacket and white pants. - Somebody To Love - Live 1981 Montreal and Official video - Bohemian Rhapsody Official video and live - Under Pressure - live at Wembley - Now I’m Here - live at Wembley - Stone Cold Crazy - live at the Rainbow) - In The Lap of the Gods live at the Rainbow - Fat Bottom Girls live at Milton Keynes - Liar - You’re My Best Friend (Official Video) - Cool Cat - One Vision live at Wembley - One Vision 20 minute documentary showing the band in the studio recording the song - We Are The Champions Live - We Will Rock You live - Play The Game live at Montreal 1981 - Doin’ Alright - live Earls Court 1977 - Who wants to live forever - live at Wembley and Official video (with choir) - Don’t Stop me Now Official video - I Want it All Official video - A Kind Of Magic live at Wembley - Live Aid Charity concert 1985 - Love of My Life live at Wembley or Rock in Rio with 350,000 + Brazilians singing the song to Freddie (each version is different but so good) - Spread Your Wings Official video - Seven Seas of Rhye - The Show Must Go On - Seaside Rendezvous (30th anniversary video) - Good Old Fashioned lover boy - Killer Queen - Headlong (Official video) - Innuendo - White Queen live 1974 Hammersmith - I’m In Love With My Car live - The Days Of Our Lives - Thank God it’s Christmas (Official video) - Keep Yourself Alive - live at the Rainbow - It’s Late (Official video) - The Miracle (Official Video) - Princes of the Universe - I’m Going Slightly Mad - One year of love - No One But You (Brian wrote this as a tribute after Freddie passed. thank you for acknowleding John's bass riffs . This is one of three last live concerts - they sold out the 2 at Wembley - so they held a third one at Knepworth park. They were the only band - for 2 - 2,5 hours. Their largest audience was 300.000 in South America. They made the whole soundtrack to the movie - which I can recommend. Another song was written by Brian May in the car on his way home from the studio where the band had seen clips from the movie - it's called "Who want's to live forever?". I can recommend the movie Highlander.
Highlander was my favourite film for a long time (First saw it when I was about 15). It's a total classic and quite unique in it's concept. A rather-daft concept maybe - but pure good fun fantasy. It still stands up very well today and Queen did the whole soundtrack - all VERY good songs with 'Who Wants to Live Forever' probably being the best and most successful song in the film (or maybe Hammer to Fall). A Kind of Magic is far from the best song on the soundtrack imo. Anyway the film is 'a kind of magic' and also has one of the most iconic villains in all film history. Darth Vader has nothing on this Antagonist! Just wait for the Church scene! Just don't go near the terrible sequels. I consider the film a one-and-done masterpiece and ignore the existence of any supporting material. Queen also did the Flash Gordon soundtrack, which has goofy fun tunes - but not in the same league as this soundtrack. Looking forward to your Highlander and Who Want to Live Forever reactions (Fingers crossed :). I very much enjoy your style of reaction btw. Especially nice is your bit of research at the beginning. But please don't let the pauses take over too much (only seen that happen a bit so far).
Fascinating movie and made more enthralling due to each Queen song. I wish Freddie had lived and they could have done more movie soundtracks since they were such geniuses at it.
Your reactions are so sincere and insightful and fun. Thx. So many outstanding performances to react to. WRT Highlander, react to Princes of the Universe and Kurgan's Theme. You can't go wrong listening to the entire 1986 Wembley concert in sections, because song by song isn't as good as experiencing the concert as the excitement builds as they transition from song to song. There are other great concerts too of course.
I was obsessed with Highlander for a long time. And Queen, of course ... I lived in the UK when it was #1 over there, so while it didn't catch as much air here, I loved it. Well, I loved just about everything by Queen anyway, but the constant radio play helped. :) I was heartbroken when Freddie died.
For other live Queen reactions - Dragon Attack and Another One Bites the Dust - both in Montreal. Then definitely one (or more) of the live 'Love of My Life' performances (maybe the one in Brazil). Stone Cold Crazy - Live at the Rainbow (This is Queen's Trash Metal song before it was even a genre), and of course reacting to the Live Aid set is an absolute necessity.
I love watching Queen at Wembley 1986. Freddie gives me chills when he performs live. The band itself is so tight and exciting too. The two concerts at Wembley in 86 are the best entertainment I ever saw. I watch it in it’s entirety very often on UA-cam. Thanks for doing this one.
Freddie and queen take you on a journey. Yeah ,i still struggle with idea of Freddie no longer being of this earthy plain. But he has a voice of an angel for sure.
I emphasize that you have to watch the movie, Queen put together an amazing soundtrack for this movie that was my younger brother's favorite. RIP. no longer with us . Just like Mercury. By the way the words you spoke about Freddy where honest and true. He was amazing performer. There can be only one..
Check out the opening song One Vision this song was inspired by the Martin Luther King's speech I have a dream. This Wembley 86 concert was I believe around 2 hours long brilliant atmosphere and of course Freddie Mercury's usual mesmerising performance. X
A MUST-SEE WEMBLEY PERFORMANCE.... "UNDER PRESSURE"!! When Queen put tickets on sale for this Wembley Stadium venue for this 1986 concert tour, the first date sold out SO FAST, they added a second date. (So, there were TWO Wembley concerts back-to-back on consecutive dates.) The stadium capacity was approx. 78,000. THEN... since those two dates sold out SO FAST, they also added a THIRD venue in London to the end of the tour, which was a month later in Knebworth Park; the ticket sales for that venue were 125,000. (Although there's conjecture that the actually attendance may have been MORE. Being a more-open park setting, it must've been harder to control "sneak-ins" than in the controlled stadium setting.) ...That puts TOTAL attendance for all three sold-out London shows at - at least - 281,000!
Thank you, Salvo! This is a "magical" performance... I remember when the album came out and I listened to that album version and thought "meh" .. but when I saw it live, it was a whole new experience! (p.s. the Highlander movie is total fun, and has several Queen songs you may know..)
This was a Queen concert, but they had a few back up groups performing too. I was at the next concert following this Wembley concert. It was held about a month later at Knebworth and it was truly amazing. I was so fortunate to be there, as it was the last concert Queen ever played with Freddie. ❤️
Awesome reaction! The Highlander is a very popular movie, (they are thinking of remaking it, I hope they don't). The main theme song from the movie was Princes Of The Universe, you should really check out the video for Princes Of The Universe, it is full of clips from the movie and Princes Of The Universe is an amazing hard rock song from Queen.
Highlander (1986) is really worth watching. Despite being a mid-budget film, the direction, script and music (Queen and Michael Kamen - orchestral music) are far above average. The film is considered cult nowadays. It spawned some uninspired movie sequels, but a good TV series. Queen collaborated on the first movie's songs, almost all of which were inspired by an unfinished edit of the film presented to the band. The love theme Who Wants to Live Forever was composed by Brian May in the car on the way back home. Out of curiosity, previously Queen had also been invited to compose the soundtrack for Flash Gordon (1980). The work result is an atypical album by the band, almost entirely instrumental, with only two sung tracks.
In the movie, the protagonist Conner Mac!eod finds out that he’s immortal when he doesn’t die from a sword wound in battle. Decades later, during WW2, he saves a little girl from a Nazi. She asks him why he isn’t dead and he tells her “it’s a kind of Magic” Roger Taylor took that line as inspiration for the song. Who Wants to Live Forever, Hammer to Fall, Give Me the Prize, Princes of the Universe and One Year of Love are all Queen songs that are in the movie.
Ahh, Brian May rock guitarist Jedi, he actually built his instrument from scratch with his father when he was a teen. Now Dr. Sir Brian May, a genuine astrophysicist and recently knighted 😊
Definitely check out Princes of the Universe official video and Who wants to live forever live at Wembley also from The Highlander. Queen performed 2 live shows at Wembley on Friday and Saturday. ✌
You need to watch the entire show! They sold out the Friday show so quickly that they scheduled a second show on Saturday night. Only one more live show following this one at Knebworth for Queen. “Who wants to Live Forever” will rip a bit of your soul!
HIghlander is a great movie, well worth watching. Without giving any spoilers it's about a group of immortals living on Earth, the only way they can be killed is to have their head cut-off and it's said that the last one alive will inherit a huge power. So they go around armed with swords trying to kill each other! Features a couple of great Queen songs including this one and "Who want to live forever" written by Brian May for this movie. Worth noting that this performance is from Live Aid, there were 1.9 Billion (yes, Billion) people watching! 😮 And I was just one of them 🤩
Hey Salvo... Yes, "Who Wants to Live Forever" is another fan favorite from the Wembley stadium concerts in '86, there were two on consecutive nights... BUT, you also need to check out the official music video of this song, with it's 'roger rabbit' vibes and animation magic... don't know if they won any awards for this video like they did for "Innuendo", but they should have... always look forward to your reactions... also, love your other channel too, very calming after a hard day. rest in peace Jeff Beck... blessings.
A lawyer never asks a question they don’t know the answer too. Queen never played a note without knowing the outcome. Queen, Budapest 86 is a great show with some interviews
"There can be only one" and Freddie was the one! 🥰❤❤❤

Actually told them at a previous show, Marbella Spain, where the band had a huge fight.

John's bass riffs . This is one of three last live concerts - they sold out the 2 at Wembley - so they held a third one at Knepworth park. They were the only band - for 2 - 2,5 hours.
Outstanding!!! 💜
Whatever song you play by Queen will knock your socks off!!!! Truly the greatest ever❤👏👏👏👏👏
Being a more-open park setting, it must've been harder to control "sneak-ins" than in the controlled stadium setting.)
...That puts TOTAL attendance for all three sold-out London shows at - at least - 281,000!
Freddie was the ultimate front man! 🤩😍
Thank you, Salvo! This is a "magical" performance... I remember when the album came out and I listened to that album version and thought "meh" .. but when I saw it live, it was a whole new experience! (p.s. the Highlander movie is total fun, and has several Queen songs you may know..)
Great reaction ! Feel exactly the same thx
more queen pls!!
“Who wants to live forever” either live from Wembley 1986 or Budapest 1986! Amazing song, amazing voice and written for the movie Highlander.
This is magic..🔥🔥🔥🔥♥️
THAT is stage presence........
Great reaction. Now you should check out WHO WANTS TO LIVE FOREVER same concert. It is also from the Highlander movie
You are a very beautiful person, mr salvo, and Highlander is great.
This is a great concert and this song is one of my favorite Queen performances ever!
Thankyou salvo 100% everything you said it all, thankyou for my Freddie Fix, loved it
There is something so sweet about this song. The older I get the more I love it
Ahh, Brian May rock guitarist Jedi, he actually built his instrument from scratch with his father when he was a teen.
Now Dr. Sir Brian May, a genuine astrophysicist and recently knighted 😊
Great song great movie about immortals.
Great song, I love it! Highlander is a movie that a lot like but for me, I like the music better than the movie.
check out the official video of "Who wants to live forever" they outdo themselves
Go Decky go
HIghlander is a great movie, well worth watching.
BUT, you also need to check out the official music video of this song, with it's 'roger rabbit' vibes and animation magic... don't know if they won any awards for this video like they did for "Innuendo", but they should have... always look forward to your reactions... also, love your other channel too, very calming after a hard day. rest in peace Jeff Beck... blessings.
I love the new format!!
Freddie is Magic ❤
also check out Millionaire Waltz and Back Chat
This was the last year they toured. They continued to record until ‘91 when Freddie died.
A lawyer never asks a question they don’t know the answer too. Queen never played a note without knowing the outcome.
Queen, Budapest 86 is a great show with some interviews
It's bitter sweet.❤ Highlander is an Excellent movie! Who Wants to Live Forever from the movie gets me Every time💔
The audience saying it all❤
Long live the best of the best.
Fun fact: the baseline used to be halftime....that was until Freddie intervened 😅
Queen ❤
Te whole concert is on youtube, from 1986, under pressure is a good one.
They also did the soundtrack for the movie Flash Gordon and some of the songs for the movie Iron Eagle with Louis Gossett Jr
Good reaction. I suggest ‘Now I’m here’ and One Vision’ from this concert, though the whole concert is good.
Being from Michigan you should listen to a song called Dancing in Lansing by Danny Hernandez and the Ones. It's from the 70's .
