The Wing-T is a must so thank you! We were a smaller school in a Connecticut conference with massive schools that were 2-3 times the size. All of best platers played both ways, BUT we conditioned like no other, we were physical like no other, we ran the Option and ironically the pass was wide open because teams were so worried about the run and so confused because week to week they never saw an actual option.
My brothers high school just finished a season running the wing T, state champs, and broken state record of points scored in a season. 14-0, average score of 58 points, 823 total points scored, and like 123 rushing touchdowns this season. Very strong offense for the running game
I learned the Wing-T as a young assistant coach at my Alma Mater HS in CA from a coach who in his older age, had returned to coach the HS where he started his career prior to coaching at the Pros. Yes folks, from Pro football. I then moved west to San Diego and started coaching at a HS that ran the identical offense from another outstanding head coach. I learned every small detail of how to run the Wing-T and of course added my own wrinkles later on as I became a HC/OC. I could never run any other offense cause honestly, I would not know how. The Wing-T is automatic for me and in my worst season, we lost 4 games (once). I met a young HC (in his 30’s) who had told his team prior to playing us, he had never lost to a team who ran a Wing-T offense. We hung 53 on him that night. We became good friends after that as he wanted to pick my brain and learn what we had just done to his “outstanding defense.” There is just so much detail to learn about this offense. It took me years to “Master” it and I say that, not knowing if I actually have. I watch NFL games and when I see a successful run, I almost always see Wing-T blocking schemes. Love the WingT offense!!!
I was a product out of the wing t offense. I played QB from 7th-9th grade. There is a toughness that comes with this offense. After my sophomore season, our coach gets fired. New coach comes in & install this offense. I went from being a QB in that system to going to a spread offense then going back to the Wing-T my junior year. I loved it.
YES on Double Wing T. I coached the Freshman Sophomore teams for the Great Don M. at Bloomington high school. I attended the clinics where he would educate coaches to run it, and against him. I thought this is crazy he likes them to run it against him. He always seen that they would change the system and run combinations off it. Yet, he would run up the score because he only had 26 team member and no reserves.
Assistant coach for 5 seasons coaching every position in the wing-T…currently in contention for the OC spot at another school and if I get it going to install the wing-T.
It will be interesting to see if the new college football video game coming out brings this offense and the flexbone to a new generation. Because they are both in the game so a lot of people will be uncovering it for the first time soon.
Yes, if you want to use a Wing-T series to add more running options to an air raid offense, a Gun T series does indeed fit better than the Delaware Wing T from under center or a Pistol Wing T. OTOH, if you have a Pistol Wing T, it's straightforward to switch into an air raid set with the strong side receivers moving from tight end and strong side wingback and your quick side slot receiver moving from quick side wingback, so you can also start in a Pistol Wing T and add an air raid series to get a more varied pass attack.
Great job you explain so well and makes it easy to understand. I see coaches make it so difficult. Can you do one on the run & shoot. My son is learning that offense which I ran in high school going undefeated
Cathedral Catholic is in San diego. They run wing T and they are always real good. When I was in high school they were 9 or 6 in the nation when we played them. We beat em but still 6/9 in the nation is crazy. Wing T works
Hey its orks for some and it doesn't for others, we've gone 40-6 running it its fun and just works for us but hey I love the attitude you have e cause I know so many T coaches that say these things lol
The only reason you score from air raid is because you get far more possessions. Throwing the ball stops the clock and prolongs the game. You get 15 possessions instead of 7 but that means you have to stop the other team 15x as well. It’s only good if your team has more talent because the longer a more talented team has to play the game the better odds they will win. Longest win streak ever? De la salle- veer. 162 games. Who beat them? Bellevue - wing t. Both teams are running teams. Most points in a single season- wing t. Most points ever in a college season - wing t. And btw, wing t is NOT 3 yards and a cloud of dust. It scores as much or more then any passing team but in half the possessions. I run a willamette style fly, and broke the single season league scoring record 2 years ago and broke that record this year. We throw the ball 3-6 times a game. And yes, you are a weenie. Air raid sucks
When you can stay in the pocket with 5 receivers out, an OLine that can’t block and the blitz is coming, all while waiting for your 5.0/40 WR to get open, then you’ll know you’re tough.
Hopefully by next April 1st we will convert Coach McKie to the cult of the Single Wing. 🤣 He can go balanced line, shift , and motion players into more open sets and throw Air Raid pass concepts.
But you could. It's basically Urban Meyer's offense based off the Notre Dame Box. It's compressed sets or some of Leo "Dutch" Meyer's TCU "Spread". You'd have a fun system with or without a mobile QB/TB
I don't understand why anyone would bully someone or call them soft over what style of offense they run. The spread has made passing a lot more prolific in the high school game and has given guys so many more reps coming into college and the nfl. Every coaches results are in their record and on film and anyone who is serious about coaching would not call an offense soft. I love almost every offensive style. I have ran Eihnhor whatever its called, spread option, air raid, flexbone, Sean McVay before I heard of McVay hilariously cuz i like shannahan and PA Flood concepts on NCAA and Madden. Tbh I think certain styles of offense work better against certain defensive personnel depending on where a team has advantages and disadvantages. People look down on air raid and spread teams because those teams would get killed by the powerhouse teams because they just had so much better players not the style of offense they were using and now that teams with those great players use those plays a lot of people have shut up about it but there are still people who are just stuck in their opinion i guess. I'm just saying dont worry about what people online say as long as u can lead the team as a coach and the players and other coaches believe in u thats all that matters.
COUNTER OPINION to your Satire.....Many an old guy poured his heart out. Many of them Wing T guys. Nowadays, they are a minority because football has "evolved". Personally, I think any kind of triple option under center are the best plays IV, MT, OV. On the other hand, without a doubt, there is nothing more beautiful than a well blocked under center trap with buck flow behind it. These offenses are considered "dinosaurs" by many and for the most part are seen less and less. Here in Texas the "spread Kool Aide" can't be kept on the shelf. Those days of hellacious defense and run the ball are almost gone. That tough minded work ethic from ranching, farming, and rough neck work still exists, but we are spread crazy here. If 90% of the teams run spread and you can't keep up with the track meet its foolish to run. 4 coaches realized this at our state championships this year. We had a split back, a True I, and two slot Ts win 🏆 out of 10 state championships for 11 man football...I agree kids want to have fun but football is too dang hard to lose
Actually checked the wiki on Bruce Lee to see if Coach snuck something in there about the Wing T and he totally could have edited that in there! Lots of mention of Wing Chun
If my tic toc comments hurt your feeling coach I apologize! 🤣🤣 video is great though every wing t coach presents it like you gotta be the toughest kids alive to run it.
Played in a “Wing T” and it only had two of the plays mentioned and never utilized the different formations. Needless to say we were predictable and averaged 2 wins a season the five years that coach was there
Fyffe out of Alabama always runs a gun double wing. Two tight ends. RB to the side of the QB and both wing backs line up in 3 point stance on the same side one behind the tight end the other behind the guard. If they don’t win state they’re there every year. Everybody thought it was because they were 2A so they asked the state to move them up to 3A. Won state their first year and lost their 2nd year but they still made it then got moved back down to 2A where they currently are. Scottsboro out of Alabama is 5A and this is their 2nd year running the flexbone triple option. So far undefeated scoring 50 points per game and running a 3-4 defense shutting down the opposing spread offenses. Old school running attack is where it’s at. Defenses especially at the HS level have a hard time shutting down these offenses
As a wing-T guy this made me Laugh out literally loud at the roast of my fellow coaches that get all arrogant. Don't get me wrong I love the Wing-T and know HOW to pass out of it. The Orthodox Church of the Wing does tend to punish you Chuck n Duck heretics with massive trolling. Oh, and I needed to clean my screen off from spraying coffee after the catching the STD in a whorehouse line!
I take kids from my church to high school football games. I don't want to be alone with kids that are not mine in today's world. So my girls went to games too. Now the girls come back from college and they want to go to games now. they say Oakdale always run the same plays! Belly, buck !
It hurt every fiber of my being hearing you diss Tubby Raymond (not Smith) like that. Put some respect on his name, the man was a legend for the sport of football!
New OC here. I was about to install the Air Raid until I came across this video. Thank you for showing me the light. Merica!
Glad I showed you the way brother. Wing T for life.

I love how he knocks the fullback not being good enough for other spots but 9/10 it’s the best ball carrier on wing T teams 😭😂
Great stuff coach. I'm a visual learner and was hoping to see a sample of the play ideas that you discussed.
Coach great job. That’s an argument I had with our OC and head coach many times. You can if then any offense, you can create a system for any offense.
Thanks coach
Pure Gold. Seriously considering this approach, it's so simple!
Heck yeah it’s simple.
@@CoachMcKie you should definitely make this into a book titled, The King T: One Offense To Rule Them All.

Just got done showing this to my dad 😂 He thought you finally came to you, senses 😂 Then I say you posted on April 1st 😂 He did think it's funny.
bc he knows the wing t is the truth

Just run counter
This is great! Thanks for sharing coach!
Thanks for watching. Now go forth and run the T
Tubby would be proud.
“Fun”?
OL runs backwards, 5 guys run sprints all while two guys play catch.
Much like trick plays, these are mostly fun for the coaches.
I’m 8 minutes in and this feels like a weird fever dream.
Soak it all in.
I started crying laughing after hearing the sarcasm in this video.

Most average High schools would do well to run the Wing-t, the double wing, or triple option.
What if they stack the box?
Came back to this video a second time already

Not at all coach. You’ve helped me see the light!
I've never met a successful coach who cared what anybody thinks of philosophy.. you can tweak the double wing into the run and shoot easily.
