    You may find this weird but I cant even begin to explain how useful your channel is to Orc LARPers as well

    If you are in the U.S. you can use old stop signs for aluminum plating (show the back side)

    You can get 2mm Aluminium at most stores specialized on metal long- and sheet-goods, in Germany those are called "Baubeschlag- und Metallhandel" most of the time, i know there was one in Dortmund from which i bought my aluminium perfboards.
    Also a tipp for cutting it, unles its hardened or high grade alloy composition like "aircraft grade aluminium", a circular saw for wood can also cut up to 3mm aluminium, so if you have one with a miter slide its a good idea to get straight edges. Ofc a cheap blade with a high tooth counts is the best idea for this as you wont have to worry about a cheap one as much as youd worry about an expensive one. And yes also a router with cheap bits works if you dont have an CnC or dont want to spend the money on NoFe Bits, just be carefull to not take of to much material at once or it might stall or lock in.

      thanks ,good and economical advice there, didnt think of using cheap bits OR wood sawblade. does the latter really work on regular AlMg3?
      and thanks for the advice where to get alu IRL, i always ordered online ,since Baumarkt doesnt have it thicker than 1mm :S
      where is that place in Dortmund? cuz i am from Dortmund.. :D

    May I make a suggestion? I really love your videos, I've been watching them for a long time. My favorite one so far is your workshop video, I've watched it several times and I pick up something new each time. The reason I love that video so much is that it's very hands on, and you're interacting directly with all your stuff. It was very engaging and continues to be very informative. I feel like the videos you set up where you're scrolling through images on your PC aren't as engaging. Still incredibly informative, and I utilize or note all the information given, but I don't feel as excited, it's like sitting through a PowerPoint presentation in class. Again, I hope you don't take this too personally, or as some sort of aggressive criticism, I just wanted to express my opinion a little. Keep up the great work, I've learned a lot from you and I value the information!

    • @NuclearSnailStudios
      @NuclearSnailStudios  7 років тому

      you are correct :) the ones with video are also waaay harder and more time-consuming to make thou :/ and my video camera is shit compared to my photo camera, so.. but yeah i get it, ppl wanna watch a guy work on stuff :D

    • @NuclearSnailStudios
      @NuclearSnailStudios  7 років тому +4

      thanks. but whats there to amke? you take the bycicle tire, cut it up, and attach it how you want it to your base. same as with drawing an owl, really i2.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/facebook/000/572/078/d6d.jpg

    Thank you for the great and inspiring videos. can you also recommend another metal that is as easy to work with as aluminum? I don't really want to work with aluminum because of the health hazards.

    Welding gloves will work great for sanding your metal just a little advice from a welder but otherwise I agree gloves do get in the way and can grab the belt sander and I would advise doing that outside if possible aluminum dust is toxic

      @jacobshort6528 4 роки тому +1

      Aluminum dust is also flammable. It is used by NASA in their solid rocket boosters.

    great video! I've used some of your techniques for the new DR:OK chapter. Question on possible materials: how do you feel about using 2mm ABS plastic sheets to heat up and shape for the armor plates?

    I think jagged edges looked nice! Perfect symmetry in the apokalypse seems unlikely ;)

    • @NuclearSnailStudios
      @NuclearSnailStudios  7 років тому +2

      depends on the apocalypse. and more on the art genre ur going for. but anyway, u can make jagged edges too, but then u need to sand them safe afterwards, just leaving a burred edge is recipe for disaster

    What size screws do you for the attachment? I have some #10 screws that are 4.826mm but they look too large for this purpose. I guess it doesn't really matter with the finished product, but still curious as to what you use.
