Estates were all converted saloons (hence the odd bulkhead arrangement) - converted by a coach building company called Abbott's of Farnham - they were sometimes known as Ford Zodiac Farnham's
Remember seeing one parked near primary school. Always wanted a ford Executive such as the Corsair 2000E in white or a Cortina 1600 E in gold or an Escort 1300 E in purple velvet.Loved the wood dash and all the guages.
Around 30 years ago I had an admiration for these mark 4 Zodiacs and Zephyrs. It perhaps was the `set square' styling with it`s long bonnet and relatively short boot that I liked about it. So much so that I bought a 1971 Zodiac and Executive brochure from a stall at a Classic Car Auction event. By this time the automatic models had the floor mounted gear lever in chrome that is commonly seen in 1970s Fords. Sold the brochure on eBay around 16/17 years ago. I also have an A4 sized advert of an Executive taken from an issue of Motor magazine from 1966! I had framed it and I still have it to this day. Currently moved to a flat that I bought recently and this framed advert will be hung on the living wall once I get around to it. The actual advert is of a silver saloon photographed in front of a brown background in a, studio. Also bought this at a stall at a classic car auction around the same time as the brochure.
I remember seeing an early one in Altrincham in 1995, SMA465D, obviously a cheaper Zephyr than a Zodiac. This one had a good innings most were dead before 1980, but didn't last much longer, scrapped by 1997.

The metal fanblade unusually positioned on the crankshaft took no prisoners when using a strobe light
