PEOPLE OFTEN MISJUDGE RATTIES AND LOOK PAST THE TRULY AMAZING PETS THAT THEY ARE. THEY ARE SO SMART, DON’T USUALLY BITE, AND ARE SUPER CLEAN CREATURES! YOU CAN EVEN TRAIN THEM TO USE A LITTER BOX! RATS ARE THE MOST AFFECTIONATE RODENTS I'VE EVER OWNED AND ARE SOOOO WORTH THE TIME & HARD WORK PUT INTO GIVING THEM THEIR BEST LIVES!
I purchased 2 identical cages and did some cutting and bending to the wires to stack them on top of one another. I really wanted to get them a larger cage but didn't really have the space or money to buy a large cage. So instead of that, I just built upwards! It works out perfectly because my girls looooove to climb!

I LOVE THAT YOU UNDERSTAND THAT THEY NEED A BIG CAGE AND NEED TO BE IN PAIRS. Drives me nuts that so many ppl don't do these two basic things. You are a great rat momma. I've had a few pairs of rats and I just adore them, they're lovely creatures.

I love how big the Cage is!
My mom makes my rat hammocks, she makes them super sturdy so they don’t break with little rings in the corners that are safe for my rats. She does this so I can put shower rings through them and I’m able to easily take off the hammocks and wash them
Never heard of a Siamese rat before. Didn’t know they had different types of rats. So cool the cage arrangement of two cases together love it

My rats organise their cage to how they like it and if I put things back they wait until I'm not looking and put it where they want it 😆

I would recommend getting one or two more of those cages and connect the two the opposite way so they have a lot of height and a lot of floor space!!!

Really helpful video for new rat owners or helpful options for already rat owners. Very cute. I wish you would have showed us more of the cuties and showed off your new baby but I get it. This was more about the cage set up.

Okay I was gonna yell coz of how narrow it is but then I saw the hight no nvm 😹 also that toilet roll thing!! Awesome idea!! ^^ I’ll need to do that for my 6! Also I like you keep to a colour theme I gave up 😹 I will say tho try to scatter feed and use foraging toys instead of bowls. ^^

We've actually upgraded from our two side by side rat manors to buying one big critter nation cage. Then we might even buy a second critter nation later on

I'm totally struggling to find a white, two story cage that isn't too much taller than it is wide, trying to fill a wider space rather than a narrow space. I've been trying to find a perfect cage so I can get some rat babies because ive been looking for so long!! trying to reach out to multiple rat mamas but no one has seemed to contact me back :(

This was filmed just minutes after I cleaned the cage. But don’t be fooled! They love to shred things and make a huge mess! Haha! My girls are potty trained as far as poo goes. They will poo in their litter trays, but they pee everywhere. It’s near impossible to train rats to only pee in a litter tray unfortunately. But it definitely helps and is a bit less messy since they do poo in the trays.
Potty training is actually quite simple! Get a litter tray or two similar to what I have in the video. I use the Oxbow pellets for the litter. Stay far away from wood shavings & care fresh! They are dusty and can affect the ratties poor little Respiratory systems. Once you have the litter tray(s) set up. Everytime they poo somewhere in the cage, carefully pick it up (with gloves or tissue of some sort), and place it in the litter tray. Do this everytime you see there is a poo out of place. Soon enough, they will get the hint and start only pooing in the trays. All the rats I’ve had have been potty trained in less than three days with this technique ☺️ Good luck!

do you know if you can feed rats like gluten free bread or pasta or does there diet contain all wheat?
Yes ☺️ with the bread it should only be given sparingly. And My girls actually love raw/hard pasta noodles. It’s actually part of their daily food mix. I do give them cooked occaisionally though without any seasonings or sauce.

You should try a c&c cage you can build it yourself and however big you want it
I don’t have space for one and the one I made now works wonders so there’s no need to change it up now. Also, with one of those, it wouldn’t be stable enough since I would have to build upwards since I don’t have enough floor space

Hamsters actually do better kept alone not in pairs. They tend to fight for dominance often.
@@Manda31409 thank you for the knowledge actually someone told me that dwarf hamsters can be kept in pairs but thank you will get a single one only asap
I’ve had several dwarf hamsters. I only got one from a pet store, but it turned out she was a pregnant female and she had about 9 babies! I kept 2 of them them, but as soon as they were old enough to be weened, they were all put in separate cages. Half of the reason was because it is really hard to tell the sex of them until they have matured more and I didn’t want MORE babies. 😂 But the males also become VERY dominant and can end up possibly killing their cage mates.

honestly just stop, males need vertical cages, they need LOTS of toys like females, and they’re just as active as them til they’re a year old on most occasions, they aren’t different species, so they don’t have different needs
