    Absolutely one of the most indepth explanations for swimbait rods and reels out there! Also greatly appreciated you showcase rods and reels the average Joe can afford! Thanks

    I own multiple Calcutta’s and have two Tranx 300 & two Tranx 400’s (one in low and high gear for both). The Tranx are just amazing and I even use them for flipping & pitching on top of using them for big snook, redfish and grouper. Only complaint I have about Tranx is I wish reel came with paddle and power handles since I am constantly swapping mine out based on application (I prefer paddle for freshwater, but power handle for salt). Great vid.

    I'm a shimano guy but picked up the newest Daiwa lexa HD 300 size and it is a badass reel. Internally it's very similar to a tranx in the way its built, 22lbs of drag they stand up to big calicos, yellowtail, and smaller tuna. I just bought 2 swimbait rods recently, always finesse fished for largemouth so hopefully some trophy size bass are coming up this year. I love your channel, keep up the content and good luck with your jon boat project.

    This was my 3rd season, and that Diawa always caught my eye. I throw my Curado 200k mostly. In Massachusetts we throw alot of wakes.Just got a used once 1st gen silver 200 Calcutta from my uncle and gonna use it for Wakes also and have a kastking Kapstan 300 for larger baits. Bad rap on the Kast king. This real feels really solid and casts a mile!

    My KastKing Rover 40 is an amazing round baitcaster-easy to cast, holds a ton of 40lb braid, almost never backlashes, and it’s a good size for inshore and freshwater fishing. I only buy KastKing reels now, have three and they are the best combo of quality, features and price point.

    Nice informative video. I use Calcutta b 400 for soft baits and Lexa 300 with my hardbaits. I fish a lot of saltwater calico bass which techniques are very very similar, fluoro for big jerkbaits, hard swimbaits either 25lb mono or 65lb braid then topwater weedless baits straight 65lb braid

    How important are the breaks when casting a swimbait? The reason I ask is because I have a curado 300 type J, which doesn't have breaks, and is going to start throwing larger swimbaits. Right now I have the tension knob pretty tight and just wondering what it would like if my curado had breaks. Would it go further? or do you even bother with it?

    nice video, question: i fish for snakeheads a lot, i've cought at least 400 fish just this season (spring-fall), some of them are big up to 30", they fight hard, i crank hard. i've been using so many different low-profile bait casters (kastking, Picifun, daiwa, abu, pfluger,,,price range 40$-200$). after a season or 2 my low profile reel is no longer smooth any more no matter how i clean n oil them. i think it's just because i abuse them, crank them hard, fight hard with the fish. or may be because it's low profile designe. i blame chinese brands ,,, but it happens to my daiwa $170 reel also, it just abit longer about 2 seasons before i feel rough retrieve. My question is: have you ever abuse (crank hard, fight hard with the fish) your $500 round reel? will it last A LOT longer than the 200$ low-pro reel?

    On the round reel would it be better to use braid to mono or braid to fluorocarbon instead of just mono or fluorocarbon alone? I’m just wondering about how often the line has to be changed? You just commented about the low profile reels and the consideration of various applications. Good point I wanna keep application in mind when purchasing my next reels.

    • @crazybassfisher
      @crazybassfisher  5 років тому

      David Williams Depends on the person, I go straight floro or mono on all of my reels, you burn through more line but I’m willing to do it for the overall feel of nothing but one type of line. It’s all personal preference though

    Do you prefers to work your hinkle aggressive or just do a steady retrieve I am trying to decide between a 5.8 tranx or a 7.6 tranx for my hinkle

    • @crazybassfisher
      @crazybassfisher  5 років тому +1

      Nolan Madden I fish my hinkles fast, almost like a 250, whenever I throw glides, I’m throwing them to get that reaction bite, so most of the time it’s a faster retrieve but every now n than I’ll slow it down and just reel it slow

    • @hotramen5952
      @hotramen5952 5 років тому

      a fast reel like a 6:3:1 lexa, abu beast, or a fast tranx are going to burn a bait, take up slack super fast on big glides, and slow roll a bait when you want them to. they realistically can do everything a slow reel can and more.

      crazybassfisher i have, i thought you might have had a opinion on them since you're deeper into the swimbait game then i am lol.
      apparently the kapstan has over 35 lbs of drag,it can also be used for trophy catfish,stripers, and as huge swimbait reel. built in the reel is a Audible micro click tension adjustment,Strike alert spool clicker as well. it's a 300 size low profile reel, which the spool is braid ready. the price tag is $130 in amazon. i'm thinking of getting it as my main swimbait reel.also can be used to target giant muskies.

    • @mynameisnotcory
      @mynameisnotcory 5 років тому +1

      Omar Ortega ty pigpatrol used the kapistan on arapaima and 20lb peas in guyana with no issue at all. I think most of kastkings are trash though unless you keep them extra clean
