Yes! New Guru video. I only watched “final score” and “tier placement” cause I wanna go in fresh. Finishing Souldiers now and can’t wait to get that over with (what a waste of what could have been an amazing game); so I can start this one. Thanks Guru.
Nice review! The bow absolutely does work, you just aim and click the attack button. The dev recommends changing back to default settings when the buttons don’t work right. The only buttons I swapped were R1 & L1, which seem to always work for me. Then I disable L3 and map L3 to R3, which also always works me. The bosses are meant to be brutally difficult. You may not believe it, but they have actually already been significantly balanced from the 1st 2 times I play tested it. It used to be much much more difficult lol. As far as ether regeneration you wanna pump spirit up for that. I shoot for 15 (since the sword of mirror requires that). Then there is a ring that also gives 30 mana that helps with the end game bosses. The blade knowledge points in the knowledge tree further reduce mana used for that weapon class. The weapons also do scale with the appropriate leveling, but it is also seems very minimal to me, so I just aim for the weapon requirements. My last play through looked like this. With these stats you can use any weapon and armor in the game. Strength 17 Dex 20 Spirit 15 Endurance 15 Vigor 15
Just beat this game. Man, the backbone of this game is so solid , with a hefty 24~ hrs-ish solid experience with some challenging boss fight and interesting biome. Deep down i really like the world/ exploration / boss fight of this game. However, there's so many things that prevent this game from being truly great, and also a hard recommendation for most normal players. I put my detail thought in the steam review section (because youtube is auto-deleting my comment cuz it's too long i guess..)
You're so damn right about that asshole boss and his flying chicken. Fuck that boss, literally took me over an hour to beat lol. I executed his ass when i got the chance and it was oh so sweet 😊There were some annoying other bosses like the ogre duo arena fight and that magic spamming chick you also struggled with. But now i'm stuck fighting like a mirrored version of myself at the end and it's so damn difficult. If i wanna use the big sword with high damage then i'm too squishy because that thing has a weigth of 70 making me equip low deffence gear to compensate. It sucks to hit a wall again right at the end, and i don't wanna replay the whole thing on lower difficulty. Gonna try for half an hour more before i give up and just watch the ending on UA-cam. The game definitely has major balancing issues and some bosses have no windup at all. I did love the visuals and music though and exploration was fun. For a game made by one person it's highly impressive, B tier is very much deserved in that regard
Hey man, found your channel and it will improve my metroidvania radar. Btw would you take a look at Song of the Deep? A submarine metroidvania i remember being pretty good? Need more exposition imo. Also the Strider 3d metroidvania remake.
Great review, as always! I'll skip this one, mainly for two reasons: First, I absolutely despise having shit in the foreground obstructing enemies, which this game seems to have in abunfance on every screen. Secondly, everything looks super spongy, even the smaller enemies.
I play on switch and had the same problem with my bow not shooting....then as im about half way through the game my switch updated and then i could shoot my bow. I thought i was an idiot but my game just had a glitch🤷♂️
I wonder how you manage to love average and bad games and how you get through them at all. Going through the S and A tier games is cool, but the rest... It's amazing that you go through even terrible games and give your analysis.
In the bottom left of the equipment screen, when you have a weapon highlighted, it will show you the stats needed for that weapon. The stats are represented by icons, however.
I'm not the biggest fan of "Souls" mechanics but that still doesn't stop me from appreciating what seems like decently fun games. I wouldn't mind trying this myself if it ever ends up in my preference of console + physical. Oh, and good to see that "Not a Metroidvania" tier getting some work.
@@MetroidvaniaGuru Well what true metroidvania fan wouldnt have enjoyed last faith or blasphemous? There the only 2 true metroidvanias of today...lol But it has to be of the same quality & caliber..if its not as good I dont want to mess with it..Also a 7 out of 10 is a bit rough...
@@peterc504 I would not say Skelethrone is of the same calibur of Last Faith or Blasphemous, but that's to be expected. Those games had large budgets and much bigger teams than Skelethrone, which was developed by one person. Skelethrone is a good game, and it's impressive that one person created it.
@@shfhsvomvolakis2318 ahahahaha that's so sweet, this game was made by 1 person, music, art, code , all in it, with no money, all by their own hands, and B1 had a kickstarter with a shitload of freaking money, B2 had a million buck budget.

Thanks for covering this one Guru! I'll definitely pick it up once I've finished Crypt Custodian and Rusted Moss.
Just finished Crypt Custodian 👀

Yes! This game is pretty different. I like it a lot.
Yes, this is a baby of all mentioned games, thank you. 100%.

THis is what worries me...I want it to be as good as last faith & blaspmeous but i dont think it will be
Im really starting to love your comedy style 😂
GREAT VIDEO! I would like a The Last Case of Benedict Fox review pls
I heard that wasnt too good...reviews werent too great.
Hope you review Pampas and Selene, seems to have flown under the radar for some reason.
I have it scheduled for October 😎
Looks quite cool.
I like the idea to play as a seketon.
Interesting, skeleton!?

You probably already have it on the list, but definitely check out Crypt Custodian. It's in contention for best MV of the year IMO.
👀

Your damage output is pretty lackluster in the first half of the game, for sure

I just love MVs so much 😆
How do you meet the stats to weapons? I been playing for 12 hours and still have that dumb slow ax. I have like 6 swords but can’t use none of them.

@@MetroidvaniaGuru I found it! Thanks! I need more dexterity not power lol
Metroid guy huh? I guess my next rabbit hole has found me.

How does this compare to the last faith or blasphemous 2?
If you enjoyed those 2 games, there’s a great chance you’ll like Skelethrone.

This game looks different, and that's great, you're used to the same-old pixel clones, of each other. And HK style shit. Skelethrone looks great!
