There is so much more to women's self defense but I have to say the groin kick just sums up empowerment! Putting an assailant in excruciating pain--I guess it's just the idea of using our strength (legs/feet) against his weakness-- to stop an attack is just so refreshing! Any time you want to put up a short compilation of women practicing the technique, I'm all for it. And yes it does hurt us too, but I've seen a guy get kicked there and in general I'd say it's more effective on males. Also, great video! I thought if a guy wore a cup it didn't hurt them at all :-)
Do you have any idea why the groin strike is so effective against some people and not on others? I am a 6'3 190 lbs guy my twin sister is 6'0.5 190 lbs but growing up she was always significantly bigger than me. We used to fight occasionally as kids sometimes do, and I probably tried kicking her in the groin a good half dozen times over the years and I'm not sure if she ever even flinched. Where as the couple of times she hit my groin I was in *severe* pain.
Great informative video! The disadvantages of being a male...we can try to protect them and still risk getting serious hurt or injured which makes the balls (testicles) such an excellent prime target in self-defense!
Do you have a specific cup brand or setup that would work for my bf so I can practice self defense full force on him? I love him and don't want to rupture his testicles and want him protected but still want to practice.
I wish I did! At IMPACT our instructors wear a cup and a specially designed groin protector made out of several inches of foam to protect them. A cup alone is not enough.
I wish I had a cup on when a girl kicked my testicles and sent me to the hospital😅 I was too embarrassed to buy one because even though I'm an adult I need a smaller cup because of my lack of size down there😳 what brand is the foam cup that these instructors use?
Wearing a cup won't stop a groin kick from doing damage or causing pain. Our instructors use a specially designed suit (in addition to wearing a cup) to be able allow students to do full force groin strikes in classes.
@@Nicole_Snell well I guess I need to make sure I don't get kicked again haha. She did some damage. Normally my testicles are the size of blueberries but they swelled up to the size of grapes😣
As a guy I fully acknowledge that our testicles are weak. It's a key target in self defense. No matter how physically capable a guy is we can't strengthen our groin. It's pretty embarrassing and humiliating that a woman's soft, delicate, pretty feet can always make the toughest man cry like a baby with a swift kick to the balls. You're a great woman, person and teacher. You're awesome keep up the great work 👍 👏 💪.
Could you make a self defense video for me? It’s actually for my little sister. She’s 13 and getting picked on by older girls, and there isn’t much on here about self defense against other females! Besides the face, what strikes or target areas should be focused on??
Hi Blake, I'm sorry to hear about your little sister getting bullied by older girls. Someone messaged me on IG a few months back with a little sister that was having the same problem. The same strikes that would work against a male assailant will work on a female assailant...including the groin strikes! If she's interested in doing a virtual class, I'd be happy to share info!
Thanks for the video! I practice Krav Maga and can attest even with a cup, a solid kick will drop us to our knees. I do have a question, from the female perspective, if a sparring situation in class, is there an expectation for a guy to be able to able to handle a solid strike with the cup? I’m also a lot bigger and stronger than most of the women in my class, so I feel Iike they might think I’m tougher
In our classes, our padded instructors wear a cup and a 5" foam cup on top to be able to take full force knees and kicks. They never take hits with just an athletic cup. I do think there's a lot of misinformation out there about how effective a cup is at protecting the groin. I think many women (and men) have the expectation that a cup means someone can take a full force strike. That's why it's important to educate others in your class about the limitations of the cup and the type of protection it's designed to offer so their expectations aren't unrealistic. :)
Thanks for the reply! During sparring drills, we are only allowed to use 40% force so I think everyone understands that full force is not okay. I guess since I’m a bigger and younger guy and have gotten paired with older and smaller women, they may expect I can take more force than a guy in worse shape. The women always aim for the bottom of the cup as opposed to the front of the cup which is way harder to handle, is that some secret women know about?
No, I don't know her! My self-defense training is based on IMPACT Personal Safety training which was established almost 40years ago (I'm also a lead instructor) and my company Girls Fight Back that is celebrating it's 20th year this year!
A large cup bigger than your junk.. is need to fully protect your nuts. If the cup is too small then the nuts are pressed up against the cup and boy oh boy a swift kick will felt let me tell you. I made the mistake of wearing a cup to small once. Also testes can slip out the cup and easily get crushed and severed... It's important to have a good cup. Also if you kick with hard tip boots or pointy shoes with the tip driving up into the sack right behind the nuts that few inches is very sensitive and has lots of nerves with a pointy or hard tip shoe driving straight up there is a K.O.. jet leg strength and technique with those foot wear is definitely putting an unconscious or writhering in the fetal position vomiting...
How do you make your knees drives so powerful certain women do knee drives and a guy could probably take it with no protection but yours look like they so hard and sharp with such a power drive I'm even surprised that suit works an unexpected guy gets a knee like that his bits be crushed so bad that the shock would probably leave him dead on arrival, that is a lot of power to your knee you deliver it looks natural to you.

I'm not sure what you mean? A woman could certainly wear a cup if she wants, however, it is not going to protect against a full force strike to her groin either.
Friend of mine got hit by a lacrosse ball while wearing a cup, and ended up losing a testicle. I once got kicked in the balls while wearing a cup, and I went down for ~10 minutes. So yeah, it's definitely still very effective.
@@butchmccain1771 I know several martial artists & pro fighters who have seen guys go to the hospital after a misplaced strike that landed in the groin during a tournament/competition. It's even happened to women.

Yep. I've been kicked HARD wearing a cup and it still resulted me in collapsing to the floor in the foetal position for the next 15 minutes
