Ha-ha-ha! I know those birds! They're the flock of wild parrots that come to my house to eat (steal) my loquats! 😂LOL! I grew up in the South, so collard greens have always been a part of the menu, for me. I stew mine (in a clay pot) and add salt, pepper, and cider vinegar (or balsamic, if you want it a bit sweeter). I also use them as wraps. I did NOT know about taking the sticks to make new plants. Thanks for that tip! 👍 And I will attempt to make some chips! 👍Compared to kale chips, I would easily eat that whole bowl you had in your hand.
I share the same love of collards with you can't go wrong with them. I will most definitely be trying the chips out. 😋
I just received not too long ago two colored tree cuttings and both of them are starting to root. I also ordered a purple colored tree and it was already rooted and growing when I got it. Praise the Lord can't wait to get these growing and get them big. Thank you for sharing your videos with me God bless you😊
I've had mine for years.and it grows super fast by cuttings.i think I'm gonna start selling cuttings. thanks for the vid
It just grows faster as plant gets bigger! Happy gardening!
I planted one of these this spring and it’s amazing! A nice purple-green variety. I’m in zone 8b (Seattle) and as far as I know, they generally survive our winters.
Mine did immediately fall over the edge of the raised bed so it does have an “S” shaped base. 😬 It’s grown enough now that I can start using it and trying chips.
I just found your website recently while looking for rare seeds, I'm so glad I did! Thanks for the seeds and for the card with your information, it's so awesome to see your UA-cam channel! You're a delightful person! God bless! 🥰
Love this! Now I'm working on making my big collard plant into a tree. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for your knowledge.
Amazing, thanks for your leafy passion!!!
thanks for the chip idea!!!! 😊
Mmmm interesting. Looks Yummielius 😋
Great videos going back to the one in Hawaii.
Think those are parrots making the racket.
Good cheers
THANKU GOD BLESS YOU
The purple one grows well in cooler seasons. When will you have the green variety for sale?
I just found your channel and now I am going crazy trying to learn so much . I'm in zone 6b and 7 a, so I don't think I can grow this one but I wish... I love collards. Thanks for your videos. Please keep posting. Maybe one day I'll realize my dream of having a yard like yours or even a little homestead.
Welcome! There are some plants (smaller) that’s easier to overwinter inside. Happy Gardening!
@@wendiland Thank you! I'll check on that.
The green one’s called Purple tree also
I just got Homesteader kaleidoscope perennial kale seedlings coming up!! (Seed grex (mix) is from Experimental farm network) ...
I'm in Oregon, zone 8, so excited to get these growing!
Just got those exact seeds yesterday!
@@heidirexin5141 yay!! Enjoy!! The new batch is supposed to be Eben better - I love mine from last year!
I love kale chips or just baked in general with Olive Oil , garlic, salt and Parmesan. Omg they are amazing. Can’t wait to try collards this way. I never thought I would like kale but it is just so good! I’m planting very soon!
Is eco a spice?
@@bl4643 sorry. That was a typo. I was trying to spell EVOO. Or Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
@@Sparkysings2 thank you!
mine died within couple of months. I am thinking to buy and try to grow again.
Will it grow in tropics? My only edible tree at this moment is moringa. Shipping to my country will be expensive but it looks worth it, I think I can make kimchee out of it
I’d like to purchase some cuttings from your friends verity I’m in the Bay Area. How May I do that?
Wow! You sold out Fast.
I added more. Please check again. :) wendiland.com/products/tree-collard-ruffle
Thank You.
Hello, if you don’t mind me asking what fertilizer you use for your purple tree collards
Umm yummy..!!!!!!!
How can we get this plant in the caribbean
Hey, thanks for the tips. Do they go to seed when it gets too hot?
They might. What you can do is cut off the flowers. I’ve seen Tree Collards that keep growing even after flowering though.
@@wendiland Okay thanks!
Hi Iam from Philippines and i want that merrit collard be nny research study. Can you help me . Thnk you.
Do you know where I can get the cuttings . I live in Texas.
Ebay
Hey I got a stupid question for ya can you just grow regular collards and let them get tall or do you have to buy a certain tree collard plant or seeds?
Genetics of regular collards won’t grow as tall and abundant, but you can grow more of them to makeup for the volume. :)
Does the dreaded cabbage moth eat this?
Anything is possible, but luckily they seem to leave mine alone.
What's the name of the special variety?
Don’t know it since it is a new variety my buddy bred. It’s such a beautiful “tree!”
@@wendiland could you send me some pics of it or put up some new video? You on Instagram?
I bet she is going to make bird soup in her next video.
🤣🤣
Wendi you make those chips look so tasty. Up to now I have just used my tree collards in smoothies. I have to try making chips now!
