Apple do not make life easy for ease of use of their products. I didn't see anywhere in the box when I bought the Apple TV, a leaflet telling us how to charge the remote. In fact, until it registered low battery, I hadn't given a minute's thought as to whether a battery was in it or not. Uff...what a relief...Bless you..

Right now I was trying to pry open the bottom of this remote with my finger nail I thought the slot was there for that reason and after a few failed attempts, I just decided to stop and look up “how to change the battery in my Apple TV remote” and I’m sooo thankful I found your video to discover that I just need to plug-in my lightning charge cable! I am so glad I saw this. I have had an Apple TV4K for several years and, each month, I have been throwing away the remote control as the battery was getting low. Who knew you could recharge these? Will save me a fortune moving forward. If only they would introduce something like this on my iPhone so I’m not having to replace that 4 Xmas week...
Great! Now everyone can make the most of the Lightning to USB Cable that came with the device. Charge every two three month. Mind you there is a battery inside the Apple TV box though.

Thought it took a CR2032 battery, was looking how to pop the front off, and came across this. I had no clue it could be charged, haha.
I saw a little icon on my tv showing my newer apple Tv remote was low on battery.'d. I have been trying to figure out how to change the battery. THUMBS UP for this video. TNUMBS DOWN TO APPLE for no instruction on how to power up the battery and after this video was a video on tips how to use this remote which has been more than frustration to my husband and me. I have an older apple Tv on another tv and the remote seems so much easier to use than this one. So many tips and instructions on the next video--I can't remember all of them. Will have to-bring a pencil and paper to try to write it all down and then hopefully I'll remember where I put my notes!! Technology is getting way to technical and complicated for me. I'd prefer the older remote to this one any day
you should've mentioned you go to the apple tv settings to see the charge level. You also didn't mention where you connect the other end of the charging cable. apple tv box or wall outlet, or apple computer, etc.

There is no signal that it’s charging. Probably a pretty small battery in there, should charge quick. Yours sounds broken.

WhoDatBe Dare not really. However, If you plug it in while the Apple TV is on, the Apple TV will acknowledge it on-screen.

It DOES have a battery. The sad part is, it is NOT user replaceable. So after 3 or 4 years you'll have throw it in the trash.
