    100% WFP me, no way am i risking getting a life in wheel chair or my leg pointing the wrong way for the sake of a £10 window clean. Simply, I don't even have a set of ladders on the van no more, so the option is not there. Only had two customers pull me on this when quoting or take the piss, out of 100s of quotes "a window cleaner without a ladder that's stupid". I just reply saying insurance, Health & Safety, better tools avaiable using WFP etc. If it cant get done from the ground with a pole it doesn't get done. Don't offer the option of traditional cleaning at all. The window over the garage, its doesn't get done. Make it clear from the outset to customer what gets done and what will be missed if ladder access would be needed. Customer moans or twists face , no worries probably best you find someone else. For the one pain in the ass job, you soon pick up and easier and better job down the line. There is glass and work everywhere. I want the easiest & simplest jobs for the most reward & least hassles. I am in this business for ME, to make the most ££ cash i can for the least amount of efforts. give me x10 ex-council 2 bed semis with all round gated access for a tenner each, than a £100 footballers 'sandbanks' All glass McMansion. Is this looking after ALL customers needs? probably not. But for those customers that DO fit my work profile, they get the very best service. Fair play to those who make the extra effort to accommodate and accept ALL customers, but that aint for me.

      I had a window cleaner, but couldn't do rear bedroom window cos decking wudnt take ladder due to being dangerously slippery. I've fell over on decking cos really slippery. He done it cheeper but weren't worth his while all the hag. So I do them myself with long pole as I'm petrified of heights I cling on tight on a step ladder lol. By the way I'm self taught only a year ago. But won't be doing it full time as I've worked it out my job will always pay more. Shame cos I get great satisfaction walking away knowing windows are perfectly clean. I get the odd job now and then at work as I'm a caretaker, we have a team of WFP but they get lots of complaints of streaks. So ground floor flats ask me to do them. I charge a pound its only 3 windows and a glazed garden door. My point is with the WFP guys they are using really hot water everyday. It leaves streaks drys terrible but they won't listen. I worked last summer to give them extra help doing all the schools in holidays it cleaned frames lovely, but windows na bad job I felt embarrassed as school caretaker called us back to squeegee the reachable one's as he wasn't happy. Can't blame him. It's not the water by the way as I requested to check it and it was spot on. When they weren't looking I turned the heater off, straight away much better job.

    Spot on Pete man. Nose to glass is the only way, whether you’re up high or at arms length. Ladders are a great tool to have in all sorts of jobs. I use them all the time, sometimes with the combination of using a wfp. Never trust using a wfp alone, unless it’s a regular clean and you know the results at the end. Trad all the way.

    A wise man once said, 'You can't clean windows from a wheelchair'. Ditch those ladders! I was on them for 4 years. 100% WFP now.

    • @TradMan
      @TradMan  4 роки тому +3

      Did that wise man know how to use ladders properly and safely. If he ended in a wheel chair the answer would be no.
      Nothing wrong with wfp though.
      Problem is it won't remove some things from window panes and frames, so unless you go up a ladder then you'd have to leave those things attached, ie paint, silicone, cement, hard water stains, tree sap etc etc.
      If you use ladders correctly, set them up in safe locations then they are perfectly fine to use so long as safety is in your mind you will go up and down in a safe way.

    Often the desire to achieve speed in window cleaning overshadows the need for safety. In Australia, a lot of new homes are built so close to the neighbors that there is no room to safely use a ladder.

    • @TradMan
      @TradMan  4 роки тому

      As far as I know there is no restrictions about the window being able to turn in, as I've seen new builds with sash & case styled windows recently. Good question though! I wouldn't be able to say for 100% sure what the law is on fitting windows that pivot but just from what I've seen I don't think it's a law. Worth a Google 👍🏻
